  1. Great stuff in this thread! Since moving back to Montana I have ditched the umbrella, where I live it gets windy enough where an umbrella is a pain. After reading through this it looks like I need to invest in a waterproof bucket hat and some rain gloves. I wear a light rain jacket with a hood but the tends to get in the way. When it really starts raining I ditch the glove because I would rather golf bare handed than with a soggy leather glove. One of the best purchases I have made is a pair of SunMountain rain pants. They keep out the rain plus are heavy enough to block the wind as well. I have pair of Foot Joy cold weather gloves that come in handy during early spring and fall rounds around here.
  2. Hmmm... I never thought of incorporating the "topped driver" for a 100 yd. approach. I may need to try that! I used to think my 100 yd club was a full gap wedge but I was fooling my self. So probably a choked down PW.
  3. I didn't plan on posting another video this soon but I went to the range today and was consciously making an effort to rotate my shoulder down and not around. I do believe that part is better but at the end of my back swing I still twist my head. Am I overdoing my back swing? (I realize in this video I am not quite out far enough but I thought it was good enough for what I was practicing) (I am not embedding the video properly, showing up as an attachment, when I get it figured out I'll put the video in)
  4. I finally have a tripod to set my phone on and I will try to make regular posts. I am going to be working on my driver to start with and see how it goes. I see I have not improved key #1 since I posted my first video 2 years ago. Time to get to work! I am hitting a practice ball, since this was done in the yard. I'll try to get vids at the range when I have a chance.
  5. Interesting article on the fall of Tiger... SI Article
  6. Congrats @Gipper and @Osnola!
  7. Usually nothing. Sometimes playing with friends I may have 2 or 3 beers.
  8. Great job Randy! I only had one round under 100 last year but my scores were consistently lower, so I have high hopes for multiple rounds under 100 this season. Let us know how how your Orlando golf goes Gipper....
  9. Goals for 2016: 1) Multiple rounds under 100. (I only did this once last season) 2) Get my handicap index under 26. 3) Improve my average driver distance to 220 yds. I am going to try and measure this through Game Golf. For the rounds that I had GG in 2015 my avg. driver distance was 201. My one round this year I averaged 212, so maybe I am headed in the right direction. To meet my goals I will probably take some lessons, re-read LSW, and start using the My Swing thread again(failed at this miserably last season).
  10. A little late posting to this to this thread... I tend to disappear in the fall/winter. . 1) I got my HI down to 29.5 by the end my season. So that was accomplished! 2) Unfortunately I only achieved #2 once but last season my scores were consistently lower than in the past so I was happy with that. 3) Might have been a little aggressive as a goal. I finished 2nd net in 2014 so I figured why not again? But in 2015 I finished somewhere in the middle of the pack. As far as my notes on how to achieve my goals; I did take lessons, but I did not take advantage of "My Swing". Probably the thing that helped me the most last year was reading LSW.
  11. Down .2 this revision to 29.5. Down 1.0 since I 1st posted in this thread. Down 1.3 since the start of the season. I am not happy with the pace of improvement but I am happy with steady trend down. I think I have 3 revisions left in the season. We'll see what I can do... Maybe another 1.0?
  12. Down .2 to 29.5
  13. Good advice. I shot a 95 not too long ago but the closest I have been since is 101. A little discouraging but overall my average score has been trending down.
  14. Congrants on the 91 and the hole in one! That is great!
  15. It is still that way?? I haven't been on GHIN since moving back to Montana but that always bugged me that someone could screw around with my account if they really wanted to.
  16. What @DaveP043 said...
  17. 4 strokes under your average... but what is that compared to your course handicap? You need to use your handicap index to calculate your handicap for that particular course. If you are generally shooting scores at or below your handicap then your index will be going down.
  18. Down .6 to 29.7
  19. I cannot tell a lie.... After using Game Golf, starting in mid June, I am going to post my re-evaluated distances and dish up some humble pie. Here are my Game Golf averages: Driver - 201, with a max of 236 3W - 164 with a max of 216 5W - 154 with a max of 170 ( I have left this club in the bag just because I hit my 7W just as far or farther on avg) 7W - 163 with a max of 193 4I - 113 with a max of 187 (This is going to convince me to look for a hybrid to replace this club, I never have hit a 4I very well) 5I - 157 with a max of 188 6I - 142 with a max of 172 7I - 136 with a max of 165 8I - 124 with a max of 147 9I - 114 with a max of 132 PW - 68 with a max of 112 ( The low avg on this one is due to me using this for a lot pitching and chipping) GW - 101 with a max of 113 SW - 52 with max of 103 My original guesses were fairly close to what max distances tend to be but not anything close to my averages. I am sure a lot of this is due to my crappy ball striking and I only looked at the good ones. Some of the averages that Game Golf chose I think are a little skewed like the 52 yard average on my sand wedge. Looking at my stats I believe I hit a full SW around 85. But definitely not the 90-95 yard range that originally indicated.
  20. An update on my 2015 goals; 1) My next revision I will be at 29.7, now I need to keep it there and keep it trending down. 2) I have one round under a 100 and flirted with a few others, I am pretty sure I am going to accomplish this before the year is done. 3) I failed on this one. I finished in the middle of the pack at -2 net over 36 holes. I probably would have accomplished this one barring a huge blow up on my very last hole.
  21. Agreed @rkim291968
  22. Nice! I was on my way to sub 100 round on Sunday. I wasn't play particularly great but playing fairly consistent. Nothing worse than a double, with several bogeys and and a few pars sprinkled in. Then on the last hole I hit an OK drive, but then every shot after was a disaster. Topped a 7 wood that went about 50 yards, shanked a 9 iron that probably went another 30 yards, bladed a SW that flew the green and landed in a bunker, took two shots to get out of the bunker with the second flying the green... 1 chip and 3 putts later I carded a 10 on the hole. For a 102, 101 ESC. These blow up holes are what I need to eliminate...they seem to come out of no where and I am not sure how limit the damage. Anyway I am sure I will be hanging out in this thread for quite awhile yet!
  23. My HCI will be at 29.7 tomorrow down .6 from the last revision and down .8 from when I first posted on the thread. I don't think it is realistic that I will be down to 25.5 by the end of my golf season. I have 2 months left in the official MSGA(Montana State Golf Association) season. And with my kids activities ramping up for the year I am going to have less opportunities to play. I could pull some miracle rounds out before I am finished for the year, and pigs could fly too! Here are my last 20 scores:
