They also may produce more spin. Or less. But seriously, this is not an easy question to answer because of the subjectivity. No swingweight performs better than another in theory, but feel is important. Do your new irons feel better than your old? Do they feel worse? Do you feel more comfortable looking at a thinner topline? Also, the playability is different, can you handle less forgiveness? What shafts did you switch from? What source told you to switch? Have you hit a few balls with the Mizuno shaft optimizer? All of these things really answer your own question.

Make it the lightest umbrella on the market and I'll buy it for a higher than average price. I find most people looking for a golf umbrella (for the golf course) are walkers. An umbrella always feels like it adds 20 lbs to the bag so I hardly play with it.

WOW. I live by the Memorial Village Golf Club where the tour visits every year and I've spoken to a few of the members during the tournament. They say that the difficulty certainly gets higher as they start to tweak the course's conditions. They use a few tees that aren't open for normal play also. I think Harmonious is right on with his comment.

I think I've seen numbers on this, and it was something like 48%/48%/4% interlock/overlap/baseball. Forgive me for not finding the source! But the moral of the story is that there is no 'better' method. People prefer one method to the others, but no style performs better than another. If baseball is what works best for you, stick with it!

New grips for 2011 and beyond...
mdrengl replied to Copaman's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have GP multicompounds corded on everything but my wedges, which have VDR midsize. When comparing, the multicompounds are much firmer than the VDR. I was actually surprised how soft the VDRs felt the first time I used them. I don't know anything about the pure pros, but when I look at pictures it looks like the NDur is similar. Personally I find that the NDur and REL seem thick; they feel almost as think in a standard as my midsize multicompounds. -
This sentiment really pisses me off. I work at a Golfsmith and I'm nothing but honest with my fittings. Also, I hit on the monitors during down times and they seem extremely accurate (minus distances). Anyway, back to the topic. I fit myself for clubs and I find launch monitors to be the best possible tool. I haven't found too many variances in numbers when comparing indoor and outdoor monitors, I think it's more of a comfort thing - It's difficult to trust the monitor when you can't see the ball.

I believe you have the wrong forum.

Trying to buy a Scotty Cameron
mdrengl replied to martymcfly21's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I'll seal the deal. I KNOW that site is fake - Had a customer come into Golfsmith with a club (TM R11) they purchased at buycheapgolf.com very recently. Pretty poor fake, ridiculously heavy, and the ASP didn't even come off. Do NOT buy anything off this site. -

I'm a fan of larger than standard putter grips, though I think there is a small challenge to get over when switching. If you have an arc'ed swingpath with your putter, it may take longer to square up the face. I've seen players switch to larger grips and push everything to the right (as a righty...) for the first few putting sessions. It may require getting used to, but IMHO it's a worthy endeavor. If you have a straight-back straight-through swingpath, that shouldn't be an issue.

There is clearly a time and a place where ball hawking is appropriate. If I'm matched with a random player, I won't ball hawk. But usually I'm with family when I'm looking for balls during the final tee time. And to repeat, the practice runs in the family ;)

I'm pretty sure most Titleist irons are .355 Taper Tip... I use golfworks to find information on this sort of stuff: http://www.golfworks.com/article.asp?ai=376&bhcd2;=1265081288

Not sure, but are you using the same grips as the demo? In the Mizuno fitting carts, the shafts have a color on the butt end - did the demo shaft have a white or yellow butt? A yellow butt is +1/2", white is standard. If all is the same, I wonder if the interchangeable heads really effect the swing weight significantly... I'll check and see tomorrow when I'm at Golfsmith.

The spin that creates your ballooned trajectory is a huge function of the loft on your driver. I would recommend getting to a golf shop and getting on a monitor. I would try three things to help fix that (in order of economics...) - lower spin ball, shaft with higher kickpoint, new driver with less loft. Does anybody agree?

I haven't done it, but one of my buddies is a GolfTec instructor and he says people don't understand the value until they go through the process. Apparently they use a program written and designed for GolfTec that the instructor throws in some inputs and the program spits out exact brands/shafts/etc that would match your swing. I'm not sure if it's worth the money with that description either, but I know a few people who have done it and they said their game has gotten better. Hope that helps...

My thoughts exactly. I'm a ball hawker (runs in the family I think...) and if you hold up play while searching, you're doing it wrong. My record number found in one round is over two dozen. I play on a private course, where the majority of balls found are of the premium variety so it's usually worth signing up for the last tee time on the tee sheet I haven't purchased golf balls in years...

DVR. When I gotta go, I pause the TV and take the laptop in the john...

The initial circuit design would probably require the help of an EE grad student (or a professor!). However, 'tuning the circuit' doesn't take much. Stabilizing a circuit has cost me at the most $30 worth of parts from Radioshack (and they're the most expensive provider, only use them in a pinch). I think $10k is an excessively high estimate, but then again i've never tried making a launch monitor... I have had some pretty sizable projects that seem subjectively as difficulty.

Which stand up bag's legs ALWAYS work?
mdrengl replied to Trader Will's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I've owned Ping bags my entire golfing career (20ish years?). Usually everything else wears out before the leg mechanism fails, so I'll keep them for 5-6 years. I just replaced my last Ping bag with a Sun Mountain (Four 5, red/black) bag and I've heard nothing but great things about their quality. And from what some people tell me, Sun Mountain was the first bag to offer legs, so I suppose that's good for something eh? The Four 5 has a little bit of a cooler pouch and a bunch of pockets, including a pocket for your watch and other scratch-able stuff lined with felt. -
Is there a low compression, high spin ball?
mdrengl replied to ASUslacker's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I agree with this as well. If you're looking for a little more of a bargain, I always suggest the Top Flite Gamer V2 ($15-$20). -

Perfect, I'm in, thanks!

This all depends on not only your physical size but also your swing and posture. In general, the length wrist to floor is a common deciding factor (read: http://www.golfdiscountcenter.com/Cu...Guide-s/47.htm ) Though it is not a hard and fast rule. I'm 6'2", +1/2" 1* up. I know guys my size who are standard length/lie. Moral? Go get fit by an experienced fitter - just the act of fitting your length/lie is 20 bucks at Golfsmith.

Just take them to an experienced club maker and you should be fine (private club, local golf shop, etc.)
