  1. I haven't posted a song here in a while. Widowspeak - Gun Shy Big Thief - Shark Smile
  2. The Glen Oaks Club, which is hosting this tournament because the Presidents Cup is being held at Liberty National in a few weeks, is not a course I'm familiar with. It has a very unique look to it, as if Augusta National was somehow transplanted onto Long Island.
  3. Remember that at the start of the season, before the California swing, Justin Thomas was the only player to finish a tournament ahead of Hideki Matsuyama.
  4. It certainly looks like Molinari will shut out Fowler and inherit the clubhouse lead at 6-under.
  5. The breaks are all going Justin Thomas' way right now.
  6. Of course, I say that, and three of the leaders immediately make bogey, and Molinari short-sides himself on 16.
  7. There's a five-way tie for the lead at 7-under, and four of them still have 14 and 15 to play. They aren't all going to drop two or more strokes coming in.
  8. It's going to come down to who avoids blowing up on the Green Mile, but the winner is going to reach at least 6-under. Rickie's not getting that close. I expect Matsuyama is going to take control, but if he doesn't, my dark horse is Francesco Molinari.
  9. At least two members of the final group are making a mess of the last hole.
  10. And then birdied three straight after that post.
  11. Except that he's pull-hooked every shot he's hit in the last six holes.
  12. They're sending players out in threesomes instead of playing off opposite nines; I don't recall seeing that before on a weekend.
  13. I play the Snell Get Sum because having confidence in your ball is worth more than the sum of its parts! 1: Rickie Fowler, -11 2: Branden Grace, -12 3: Byeong-Hun An, -13
  14. The forecast portends soft playing conditions this week. Rory McIlroy is the best golfer in the world in soft conditions, and he has a great history at Quail Hollow; there's no reason to suggest he isn't a heavy favorite to win.
  15. I play the Snell My Tour ball because it's easy to tell which ball is mine! 1: Rory McIlroy, -17 2: Bill Haas, -11 3: Tyrrell Hatton, -14
  16. There's a big difference between the expectations of a solid tour pro and that of a major champion. Willett wasn't prepared for that jump; his green jacket more or less fell into his lap.
  17. Three wins, including the HSBC Champions during the wrap-around season.
  18. I think it's very close between the two; Spieth's major victory puts him ahead, but not by much. Of course, Jordan can finish his career Grand Slam next week and wrap up all of the superlatives; or, Hideki could win and gain the upper hand. DJ or Rickie could enter the discussion with a victory, too.
  19. It needs to be asked: is Matsuyama the player of the year at this moment?
  20. Ah, the "block it so far right, it gets to the trampled-down area" strategy.
