What's the best way to practice on your own?
baal replied to Alex1's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
In the apartment I am in there's a thin moquette all over the place, it's smooth almost like a putting green. Great for practice on distances (even better than the putting carpet with the slope which I also have) -
Well I don't think any "wallstreet for dummies" will do any help. You can start reading Microeconomics and Macroeconomics university books. Those can offer you a proper basic understanding of markets. Just look at any university curriculum for economics major, and see what books they use for those 2 courses.

Two words: FASTUM GEL It's off the shelf, and super effective. Just don't overuse it as it can cause hypersensitivity. Here is a picture of it: Good luck with your back, I know that type of terrible pain, and make sure to rest and take a break from golfing for a while if the pain persists.

Warm up & Stretch: ankles, hips, shoulders, wrists. It's very very important unless you want to be broken in the end. Then I do 5 buckets, one for a club, going from open face irons until the driver. I usually go with my girlfriend, so between each two buckets, there's a cigarette break and some gossip about other club members

Well you can easily install a blog on your domain such as WordPress, which is free, easy to modify, has a lot of free third-party addons and layouts. Some hosts have it even ready for you to press one button and it installs itself automatically. Other than wordpress, you can also use Joomla, which is also free.

I use public transportation. I used to have a Nissan sunny and then a Toyota Yaris, but I decided to stop. Public Transportation here is much more effective.

I definitely hook. There are enough golf balls for everyone to play ;)

Well I don't think anyone questions anyone's faith. But take for example, when she says that the Iraq invasion is God's command (or something of the sort), being as well a governmental executive, this goes beyond personal beliefs, this goes to imposing (on her voters) her personal belief, and applying them in political judgment, which was the case since she was supporting the war.

Just by principle, a player is taken for his ability to play only. Take a look at football, players don't learn the language of the country where the club they are in is. Ronaldo didn't speak Italian. Zidane didn't speak spanish. Oleguer Presas doesn't speak Dutch. and so on..

In the index file. Go to this part (3rd line):

All I am seeing so far is that the republican ticket isn't that different than Bush-Cheney. I was completely shocked that someone running to the second office, and could be in the first, to mention torture so jokingly ("terrorists want to attack us catastrophically and they [democrats] are worried about reading their rights") along with the clapping of thousands of gun addicts and religious fundamentalists. Well, at least they're honest about it. It's almost like reading George Orwell!

Great topic!!! I'm a music composer, basically anything that ranges from classical, to experimental, rock. I'm also a guitarist, keyboardist, and play some instruments here and there. Check my youtube channel and give it some stars :P There are also some music lessons posted, so subscribe if you are interested in learning the theory from basic to advanced, step by step. http://www.youtube.com/jalalhaddad I am planning to finish my first music album (I've been saying that for some years), and who knows, maybe it can become a career =))) Here's a sample:

I agree with you 100% on the first part, however on the second part, in what concerns foreign policy. Frankly both parties have the same direction, except that McCain and the party he represents are much more rogue, and the Democrats are more of give and takers.

I never go near any idea of debt. I don't buy things I don't need (except when I have a surplus and something is not that expensive), and especially with the money I don't have. But I draw a big difference between putting yourself in debt to buy a new TV plasma screen set, and putting yourself in debt to afford healthcare or food. The latter is really sad, and should not be allowed to happen.

Hi, among all my weak links, putting is my weakest, and I am sure that most beginner golfers get frustrated with the putting. I was watching Shawn Clement's videos, and he suggests the putting swing to be done as a free pendulum, with the shoulders as the axis of rotation. The club goes forward after impact as much as you pulled it at the backswing. And all you do to increase the power is to pull it back further etc. But I usually see in other golf videos, and on TV, that putting is done differently. Basically what I see is that the ball is hit with the force of the muscles, without the pendulum effect, and the swing ending abruptly after impact. Which is a better swing in your opinion, in terms of consistency and accuracy?

How often do you practice/play?
baal replied to tampabay1414's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
you are one lucky fellow!! -
happened with my driver, the shaft snapped and the head went flying 50 meters. I Went back to Decathlon since the set has a 2 year warranty and they replaced not just the driver, but the whole set. Very nice of them. So keep those warranty papers and receipts! Good luck.

Hey thanks for the welcome!! Well to answer first about the golf situation in Hungary, well, it's not such a common sports here, so there are about 3 golf courses altogether around the capital, and not much more scattered around the country, but nothing compared to the density you see in the UK or the USA. The ones I've been into here are in very good condition, service is great, and the mood is friendly. Now about the weather, basically Hungary is a flat country surrounded by moutains from all sides, so the weather is mild, and not too much precipitation, so it's perfect for golf for at least 8 months a year! About the handicap score I put... well I haven't played 18 holes yet, so I never got any handicap calculated, and since it's not optional in the UserCP, I had to put a quite high number to represent symbollically my skills for the moment =)) cheers!
-
Hi all, I am from Hungary, might sound a bit bizarre for you since 99% of you are from North America =)) I wasn't really interested in golf (or any other sport) until a friend excited me about it, so I went and bought a cheap set, and ever since I've been golfing for 2 months at least once a week. All I can say is that golf is wonderful, and what makes it so is its versatility, its plenty little details, and the combination of physical, mental, and social activities. I just want to say that I love your forum, its friendly environment, and the great information sharing it has. Cheers!

I'm doing it all by myself. I'm doing quite well with the irons swing-wise, but still have to focus on distances, and not so consistently well with the driver, but improving.

Hey I too worked as manufacturing engineer & project manager, but now changing towards something more field engineering oriented. Traveling to customers all around Europe and doing versatile stuff are more fun than calculating MTBF and MTTR with the constant machinery sound in the background in my opinion :P

Thanks Dub! Well I usually do a routine of about 10 mins warmup and stretching, it includes the wrists. I will give it a try with the neoprene wrap. And also watch my swing finish more properly, to see if any change will come up.

As an outsider, I see that American elections take often some Hollywood effect. I look at it, and frankly I find it a battle of slogans and branding, as opposed to a battle of platforms. Are there any published platforms by the candidates? Something a bit more detailed than the mainstreams of pro-life vs. pro-choice, secular country vs. christian nation, pro-guns vs. gun control, pro-war vs. anti-war etc.?
