  1. Little bit of Treadmill and Airdyne today. I didnt have the lungs to go far due to being sick for the past week.
  2. Walked/Jogged 2.25 miles last night and found a new app called Endomondo to track my Exercise. Hopefully I can start jogging outside more.
  3. I keep seeing this thread and thinking about posting it in when I finally do workout. Well, Today was the day. I got up at 5 and did Sqauts, Bench, Deads, Rows, Curls and Calves. 12 Hours later and I am already starting to feel sore. Thanks for the thread, its motivating, Greg
  4. I am thankful for: -My wife; she knows that I am addicted to playing golf and encourages me to play more. -My Father in Law; he loaned me my first set clubs. They were ancient but, i still enjoyed playing with them. -My 4 year old son; He is constantly badgering me to go out in the back yard to hit balls. -My job; I can take 2 hour lunches and squeeze in 9 holes in the middle of the day. -Breaking my leg 2 and a half years ago; I've always seen myself as awesome (still do), but at 32yrs old and 360 pounds, I was definitely not as awesome as I thought. Breaking my leg enabled me to take a look at things and find a better place in life and on the golf course. I can now walk the course and have the stamina to play as many holes in a day as possible. Got in 45 holes a couple weeks ago. Sure as hell wouldn't have been able to do that weighing 360.
  5. My only goal for 2012 is to shoot in the 80's.
  6. Just got an '11 Sonata Limited 2.0T. SO much better than my last car, 02 Grand Prix SE
  7. Im giving some thought to getting my son his first set of clubs for christmas. He loves to get mine out in the backyard and I think next summer he may be ready to get out to the course a couple times. As for me, Ive only asked for gift cards from TGW. Im hoping to build a better swing over the next 6 months before getting fitted for something new.
  8. Id say give it a try for a couple weeks and write down how much you drank each day and how you felt. For me; i have to have my daily diet coke after lunch and then the rest of the day is water water water. I drink about a gallon spread out through the day. I think it has helped me lose wieght indirectly because its calorie restriction that makes you lose weight not water. When I dont drink enough water, im hunger all the time, i get headaches do to being dehydrated, and It helps keep my weight loss consistent due to the effect that more water equals less water retentions as long as you arent loading up on salt and booze everyday. I dont trust the chemicals in Diet pop, but i also believe everything in moderation is a good thing. Just my thoughts, Greg
  9. My swing didnt change after losing a lot of weight ~360-~240; I still shoot about 104, and my body shape is not different, just smaller. Eventhough im still not a good golfer, being more fit has certainly helped other aspects of the game. I can now walk the course and not be a hot sweaty out of breath mess. I have the stamina to finish the round and have more confidence on the course.
  10. I remember reading somewhere that when its really hot and you store your clubs in a hot car all day that it can have a degrading effect on the adhesive used to secure the head to the shaft. I have no idea how the head is attached to a shaft but that may account for it. Just a thought.
  11. Buick Enclave. Great ride, Comfy, Cooled Seats, Dvd screens, 3rd row fold down for lots of room. 24 mpg if you keep it near 65.
  12. Congratz on the new Grill. This is a good recipe. http://www.discusscooking.com/forums...oin-42957.html Also, my favorite way to make baby back ribs on my grill is to Rub them down with some rub. Let them sit for an hour to reach room temperature, if out of the fridge. Then wrap them in foil with a 1/4 cup mixture of grape, apple, and pinnapple juice. Be sure not to snag the foil on the bottom, you dont want the juice to escape from the bottom. You want the juice to rest meat side down on the grill for about an hour with indirect heat at about 400 degrees. Mix Honey and KC Masterpiece bbq sauce together, about a cup total or more. At the end of the hour, turn all of you burners up on the grill to medium high or high. take 2 pairs of tongs and unwrap the ribs on the grill. There will be flare ups at first but they will die. Your goal now is to sear the ribs while baste them with the bbq sauce turning frequently until they look too good not to eat. Sorry for being long winded, im bored at work. I even have pics of the last time i cooked them. Greg
  13. For me, when the drive from the tee goes badly everything else does too. Im still fairly inexperienced at golf. This is my first year trying to learn the game as apposed to just hacking at the ball and wondering why it didnt do what i wanted it too. I can maintain a good score on a hole once im 130yds away if im concentrating on what im doing. Its just getting inside the 130 yds thats got be baffled. The last time out on the course I lied to my playing partners and said i broke my driver just to see how i would fair. I was absolutely amazed at how well i did. I played bogey golf for the first time ever. +18 after 18 was a huge confidence booster. Ive since put the big stick in the closet away from my bag.
  14. This might be what your looking for. I've come close to buying but havent pulled the trigger. http://www.golftraxx.com/
  15. My two favorites in the Wichita area are Hidden Lakes and Auburn Hills. Both are nice courses.
  16. I simply dont keep track of my overall score during play. I know if im having a terrible day or not and i know that seeing the big number wont do anything for my confidence. At the end i like to add it up and review what i did hole by hole before leaving the course. A word of advice from the one and only lesson i have ever taken was that the only shot that matters is the one your on. Forget about the shank you just did and the 5 snowmen on the score card, concentrate only on this one shot. Hope that relates. G

    Putting

I know that my handicap isnt good but the one thing that has helped me the most is counting on the back stroke one onethousand, then starting my forward with two onethousand. I cant remember where i read it online. I think it stops me from thinking so much about the shot. Just my $0.02
  18. I wouldnt be able to just jump on a couple of holes with out paying, but if I'm behind some seriously slow people and no one is behind me I'll typically go back and re do the previous hole.
