Though I am a registered Democrat, I have voted Republican in my local elections. As I get older my social views have gotten a lot more conservative and I have always been a fiscal conservative. I find myself shut out by the democratic party because of it's turn to the left. I haven't seen a candidate from the them that is moderate in a long time so I don't think I will remain a Democrat.

How many of your are Ebay buyers?
arbitrage replied to ChvyKc's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Most of my clubs are from e-bay. The problem is that I am the "kid in a candy store" when I have all this high end items in front of me going for lower prices then the OEM's at a retail golf store. I use the retail stores only to try out new heads but it doesn't do me any good because they don't have the shafts I want to try and they play games with the launch monitor to make more sales. -

My wife got me a Tumi cart bag so I have to use it...

I use gametracker as part of my Amateur Tour membership. Some of the course ratings/slopes are a bit off and they sometimes don't have all the tees. I haven't used any of the other functions. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

FWIW, in the NY Metro-Long Island tour the $199 membership fee is only good for 1 calender year.

The first tape I ever bought was Beastie Boys - License to Ill. I was in 6th grade, and the bus driver popped in the tape on our senior class trip to Lancaster, PA. The whole bus was singing along to every song. Ah, the memories. Anyways, to my best of: Hip - Hop: Beastie Boys - Paul Revere (Can still recite the lyrics word for word to this day) Tribe Called Quest - Check the Rhime (Low End Theory is one of my favorite albums De La Soul - Buddy (the best ensemble rap of all time next too.....) Marley Marl - The Symphony Gangstarr- Dwyck BDP - Material Love Rock: Pantera: Cowboys from Hell Metallica: For Whom the Bell Tolls Tesla: Love Song Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody The Doors: People Are Strange Steve Miller Band: The Joker Motley Crue: Same Ol' Situation Pop/Other: Depeche Mode: Shake the Disease New Order: Regret Louis Prima: Just a Gigalo Frank Sinatra: The Way You Look Tonight Frank Sinatra: Fly Me to the Moon

I technically have 5 wedges right now. My R7XD PW is 44 deg and the AW is 49. I also carry three not-set wedges (52, 56, 60). My home course is short, even from the tips (6300 yds). Edit: I have a 50 degree on the way so I will be moving the 49 and 52 out of the bag.

I just joined the tour in my area (NY Metro - Long Island) toward the end of this past season. I didn't play in the actual point events. I played in the two modified stableford events that were meant to introduce new players to the league. The events are fun and you do normally play with the same people. There is a pull-down in the registration for each event where you can request your preferred partners. I have met a great bunch of guys that I would love to play with more often. Also, you get to play some courses that you don't normally have a chance to play (at least in my case). My problem so far has been the cost of the events. I've heard the costs vary depending on location. For us, each event costs between $130-$160 and most do not include any food or beverages. I've heard that other locations only charge $80-$100 due to lower local costs. One benefit of the tour is that you can sign up for events out of your area. For example, if you are on vacation in Florida you can register for their events. All in all, it has been great so far except for the cost.

Is it a problem when everyone in the store knows you by name, even the noobs? Multiply that by four stores, and that is my situation. Do I have a problem? Is there a Golf Store Anonymous?

Andy, I have taken lessons from two instructors in the NYC area. 1. Andrew Lim - Future Golf - (718)591-7701 - Located on Union Tpke in Flushing. Car or bus. - He teaches in his store in a indoor stall. - You can not get a visual of your ball flight. - He teaches the best technique - Very hands on. He will grab your arm to put it in the right slot. 2. Dan Orlik- Spring Rock Driving Range (516)330-5207 - Located in New Hyde Park on Long Island - Hitting off driving range mat - Adjusts his training to your level of comfort Here is the link to Spring Rock: http://www.springrockgolf.com/golflesson.htm

This one is easy: Anna Natalie's face is busted, she has no hind quarters (I am a hind quarters man) and she talks like she has marbles in her mouth.

Depends if you are playing single or a foursome. If you are a foursome then you should get to Bethpage around 7pm-8pm the night before. If you are a single you can probably get there in the morning and probably get on in 2-4 hours. NYS Resident is $50 week/$60 weekend or non- NYS resident is $100-$120. If you registered on the phone system (NYS license) you can sometimes get lucky. You get a lot of cancellations on Thursday or Friday. Last Thursday, around midnight, there was a Saturday 9:07am on Black open. Then again, I play single 90% of the time so I usually never have problems.

Here in New York City it is $42.50 (with reservation fees) on weekends and maybe $5 cheaper on weekdays for all the muni's. If you head out to Long Island the fees start at $45 for Bethpage (not black) and can go up into the $200-$300 range. The most expensive place I actually play is Lido Beach as a non-resident and that is $52. All of these rates do not include carts which are in the $26-$33 range.

Paula all the way. Natalie is good from afar but far from good.

For me, my experiences with customer service, and my own personal testing shape my opinion of manufacturers. These are just my observations: Ping: I had a bad experience with Ping corporate (not the clubs) and for this reason I refuse to spend a single dime on their products. Callaway: Too much game improvement for my taste, drivers are as light as a feather to me. Nike: I used to have Nike CPR hybrids and they worked pretty well for me but the products that they have now are too flashy. When I hear the sound of the Sumo 2 I feel that the user is someone who wants attention drawn to themselves, imho. Cleveland: Good for wedges not much else. I did notice that Vijay went back to his Launcher after trying the HiBore last year. Dropped a lot of staff this year. Are they in trouble? Are they going out of business? Will they be around in a couple of years? Titleist: I love their wedges and balls. Based on testing the drivers and irons I do agree somewhat with the stereotype that the clubs are for better players. Mizuno: Best irons. Something for everyone. Woods are for advanced players. Taylormade: While I agree that they do put out too much product, I still go back to them when it is time to update. Why? Because they work for me. I love the woods and irons are perfect for me. I also started using the TP Red ball and for me they are the best balls I have ever tried. Bridgestone & Srixon: Sorry for lumping. Great balls. The E6 is the best value out there by far.

Plastic or Wood Tees? Something Else?
arbitrage replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Sorry, been away for a bit. I stopped using them because I could never figure out the exact angle to point them to get optimal ball flight. There were too many variables and got too complicated to think about during the round. -
Plastic or Wood Tees? Something Else?

I have been using velocitee's for the past season. Once I got the R7460 I moved on and started using the 4" wood tees. -
Check out his negative/neutral feedback on toolhaus.org: http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?Use...rn=Received+by It looks like the common theme is that he has poor communication.

A few US vendors by fakes in bulk from China and sell for a low profit margin. If you see new clubs for 40% or above off of the retail I would be very careful.
-
I usually go for used clubs on E-Bay. I found the fakes of the R7 460's and I didn't even bother to call because they were so obvious. It appears that they are finally being removed after many months. There are many reputable dealers on E-bay that I have bought from. Use http://www.toolhaus.org/ and enter the user id and you will see what negative/ neutral comments buyers/sellers have for the seller. When you do your search also specify items only in the US and items listed with paypal.
