both days of my state tournament this year took over 6 hours. we ended up winning so it was well worth it!

i usually practice putting about 45 minutes a day. sometimes i go for more but that is my average time. i do a drill where u pick a hole and hit 5 footers from above, below, and each side of the hole. Hit 5 putts from each location which totals 20 putts if you make them all. The way i do it is that if i miss more than 3 out of the 20, it doesn't count. i do this drill about 4-5 times meaning that theoretically, if u did it 5 times, u would make 85 putts at the worst without starting over. it is really beneficial and u could also slim it down to 2-3 rounds if 4-5 is too much. the only other thing i really do for putting is 15 minutes of 10-15 footers. hope that helps

i seem to spit continuously. pretty much anywhere outdoors too. its extremely common in highschool/juinior tour golf matches haha

all i want to do is get recruited by some d1 schools in the southeast. and shoot in the 60's in tournaments. i play so many of them that im suprised it hasn't happened yet.

based on what people have been saying on here, i would say my highest swingspeed was about 120. and also based on the responses, i would say my average is about 115. also question for anybody who would know, does the diameter of your grips effect distance at all? cuz when i first got my i10s about 6 months ago, i used the teal grip which is .25 or something smaller than standard. my hands have grown and i now realize i need a standard grip

i guessed meaning that i asked some of my teammates what their swingspeeds with a driver were and then kind of compared mine to theirs. and no its not 190 i can't tell if you are joking or being really sarcastic. its honestly not that hard to hit a long drive in my opinion. you just have to be very precise with your ball striking (hit the ball in the sweet spot a lot) and your swing has to have good tempo in relation to your swing speed. i don't understand why people on here can't grasp the fact that i carry about 270 with my driver. i mean ya i swing hard and sometimes i almost come out of my shoes, but it is controlled meaning that i can hit a draw, straight, and fade when i want to at different trajectories using the same swing and i'm pretty consistent. i hit 13/14 fairways yesterday on a fairly tight course

it will definately show some signs of wear after a while. just make sure you keep it dry and wipe it down during and after your rounds

maybe my swingspeed is faster then. i have never really gotten it measured, i have just guessed. im not trying to brag but i hit the ball further compared to most kids my age i play against. i hit a ditch on the fly today that was 260 with a 3 wood. ur right my swingspeed has to be like at least 110ish. sorry for the misguidance

i shot 38 today played really bad. i hit 5 sand traps and my putting was way off. my iron shots havent been solid for the past few weeks but i have been bombing drives. i was 20 yards out on the first hole from the tips which plays about 350 if you cut the trees. no birdies tho

Why do we talk to the ball?
AK jr. replied to bigoak's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
im a pretty firery player and i like to pump some fists and make some big shots. i tend to start yelling at my ball alot when its reached the apex of the distance and starts to come down. its usually on the shots that have a slight chance of spinning way back off the green or ending up long. i have a good sense of where my ball is going right when i make impact so sometimes i just don't even look at it and see where it ends up -
Tips on drills to practice hitting down on the ball?
AK jr. replied to Zeph's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
a drill that i used to do to hit down on the ball is the towel/tee behind the ball. another thing you can do to that makes sure u are hitting the ball first before any ground is to stick a tee in the ground next to your ball. hit it and ur divot should be of reasonable length and depth, and it should start about half an inch past the tee. a swing thought i always have on the range when i warm up is to exaggerate keeping my head still and my spine angle consistent because that will lead to less variation between distances and trajectories -
swingspeed is right around 103-105. carry is about 275. i turned 16 about 3 months ago and i only weigh 155 pounds

if i am just playing by myself or with family/friends and it doesnt really matter, i don't worry about slow pace of play unless we are holding somebody up. generally when i am in this situation its just 9 holes and i have a lot of fun, so i will shoot 34-36 most of the time. playing with a slow group in a tournament is terrible though. thats like the life of a highschool/junior tour golfer haha. but i guess you learn to deal with it because there's not much you can do

highschool golfer being recruited for college hell ya

if you have a powerful turn than its ok for your hips to be a little ahead of the ball, but in your case you should be about square to the ball at impact. like i said work in front of a mirror, and get to a point where your swing looks like one fluid motion versus your lower body working against your upper body

you are correct by saying that sergio hit 3 wood a few times. but on the holes where they both hit driver, it was pretty neck to neck. sergio was also sick so he wasn't hitting with 100% of his normal power. also, his swing was a little bit off due to his sickness I would assume. I was at the Ryder Cup on Sunday and followed their match and i noticed the same thing

ust v2 65 flex recommendation
AK jr. replied to GOLFSALOT00's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
the prolaunch red didn't feel very good to me. i just didn't get that nice soft yet solid feel that i like in a driver. it felt like i was hitting a brick. if you were to get a graffalloy shaft, i reccomend the blue from personal experience. i had that shaft in an old callaway driver i used to play and absolutely loved it. i am considering going back to that shaft also in my g10 -
one thing i noticed is that from my observation, its ur hips that actually outrace ur shoulders which is causing u to play catch up with ur arms. in turn, ur hands flip at the bottom in an attempt to compensate which is causing u to hook it or pull it. what i would do is get a full length mirror and put it in ur house or garage and just practice swings in front of it. at first, keep your lower body completely still, it may feel like you are swinging a baseball bat. once you can swing fluidly with your upper body, add your lower body but at a minimal amount. a good golf swing will have a acceleration on the downswing and little lower body movement. the last thing i noticed was that you are coming up a little bit after impact. not that any of us are pros on here, but most highschool/college golfers i play with who have a good swing hit down on the ball including myself. if you keep your head down and drive through the ball versus scooping it a little, you will notice that your distance should improve and ur contact will feel much more solid

^^sounds like fun. my team did that before the season and we played well but i forgot what the points were at the end. my team just won our district tournament last tuesday and we also won our regional tournament yesterday. state will be next tuesday and wednesday. i play number 3 spot on my team. i have shot 77 so many times over the past week. its annoying me cuz i usually shoot 73-74. best of luck to everybody with state coming up or teams that plan on going to state!!!

AK jr. replied to GOLFSALOT00's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
the v2 would be a good shaft to go with. it has a medium trajectory and not much torque at the tip. i played a the v2 highlaunch for a long time in my 905R and it was a great shaft but it was a little to whippy at the bottom so i got rid of it. I now play a g10 10.5 also and swear by the orange ping shaft. my driving average was 285 and i was hitting the ball on a mid trajectory in my highschool's regional tournament yesterday so my situation might be a little bit different then yours. i reccomend the regular flex v2 because with your swing speed and distance it will likely suit you better than a stiff
