  2. I don't mess with them on the golf course. I have never seen one in a place where it would be a problem, like the middle of the green or a tee box. I did however run into this guy on the cart part the other day. Needless to say I didn't mess with him. I do always stop and pick them up off the road though.
  3. This is one of 3 things I focus on with my swing. I find if I think about more than these 3, I get sloppy and start miss-hitting. 1) Forward press right before I begin my backswing 2) Right elbow down to my body when starting my downswing 3) Crossing the forearms at impact to close the face and create power in the swing.
  4. http://www.golfwrx.com/329484/review-cleveland-tfi-2135-putters/ I just purchased a Cleveland TFI 1.0 to upgrade from my basic Adams Tight lies putter that came with my 5 year old set. I went to Golfsmith three different times and I tried various Odyssey, Taylormade, Nike, and PING models. I was most satisfied with the Cleveland TFI. I have used it in two different rounds since I bought it and I feel much more control over my putts and actually feel the ball more (if that makes sense) than with the heavy tight lies putter I had. The grip that comes with the TFI is very comfortable and I have no problem keeping the putter steady. I did not feel the same way about some of the other models like the Nike Method. Some reviewers said the copper face and white insert distracted them when lining up putts. I never had this issue, as you can barely see the copper and white looking straight down. I also received many compliments about it from my foursome. I was worried about the copper being too flashy but I really like it now. The alignment bar is raised to the exact radius of a golf ball, hence the 2135 name. I found lining up putts was slightly easier and had less mishits. Now I still stink at reading greens so I didn't hole all those putts, but it did go where I aimed consistently. At $129, cheaper than almost all other putters I tried, I was very satisfied with the purchase.
  5. I have a 5 year old Tightlies set. I still use the 5 hybrid that came with it. It's not a bad club, I don't know much about the new models though. I have an Adams IDEA pro hybrid as well and prefer that club over the TIghtlies model.
  6. I voted Yes and Yes. Last year I was shooting mid to high 90s. This year I started keeping a handicap for the first time and have been shooting low 90s and have shot in the 80s the last 3 times out. The big thing for me is staying with it and practicing consistently. I coach football so once that season starts I will have very little time to play. That is where I lost my momentum last year. This year I plan to practice through and hit the driving range late in the evening after practice some days.
  7. After two and a half rounds of completely losing my full iron swing I seemed to have found it at the turn of my last round. Shot a 48 on the front 9 with 4 double bogeys. After the turn I shot a 41 and started feeling much better. Broke 90 for the third time in a row now, hopefully can keep the pace up.
  8. I chip/putt before a round but really should start hitting a small bucket. I always tell myself I don't want to waste my good strokes Yesterday I adjusted the loft on my Taylormade Jetspeed driver. It was set at factory 9.5*, bumped it up to 11*. I have also been working on my grip with the driver. I used to wrap my bottom hand under with the bottom of my palm on the side of the shaft and now I have the bottom of my palm more on top of the shaft. With the added loft and change in grip I have not been slicing my drives near as much.
  9. I coach football so my golf season comes to an end in August unfortunately, besides the occasional weekend round. By then I would like to become more consistent with my driver and be breaking 90 regularly. I've done that twice so far this season, with an 87 and an 85 but with a better tee shot I think consistent mid 80s is not out of my reach.
  10. I had a similar experience yesterday at the driving range. Hit my driver well and pitched well. Then tried to hit full iron shots and didn't hit one good one out of 30 balls. I usually hit my irons well and struggle with the driver so it was a weird feeling. Going back today and we will see what happens. I always try to remember Harvey Penick's advice from his little red book. Play bad 1 day, forget it. Play bad 2 days, review your fundamentals. Play bad 3 days, talk to a pro.
  11. What camera do you use? Trying to find an affordable slo mo camera.
  12. Just found this thread. I practice every day even it is just 30-40 slow swings with a couple different clubs. Yesterday I pitched with my 52 and 56. Hit 5 balls with one club, then 5 with the other club at the same speed and amount of backswing. Trying to fine tune my distances. I just picked up the 52* last week to have a 100 yard shot. Only used a 56/14 and a pitching wedge before, so trying to figure out when to use the 52/10 other than that full swing 100 yard shot.
  13. Awesome thanks for the heads up! I appreciate that. And yeah I was absolutely amazed. If I didn't have that new Bushnell watch I wouldn't have believed it myself. Was definitely my best drive ever. I think that gave me the confidence for the rest of the hole.
  14. Just was informed of this thread.. pretty sweet reward system. I broke 90 this past month and just had my first legit eagle on a par 5 this Sunday.
  15. Mine might be borderline munching out versus snacking some rounds haha but yes I do. I find that getting hungry during a round really distract me and I start hitting bad shots. Played Southern Oaks in Easley, SC. It has become my home course lately and I really enjoy it. Especially during the week when it is $25 after 2 pm every day. I broke 90 for the second time so far, shooting a frustrating 47 on the front and a personal best 38 on the back. I contribute my better play to three main things. Purchased a Bushnell Neo GPS watch. Man was this thing sweet. Having exact yardages all around the hole was extremely helpful. Knowing I needed to hit an 80 yard shot versus guessing at a 70-90 really helped me on approach shots. I had a ton more 1-2 putts as a result. By the 3rd hole everyone in my foursome was asking for yardages. Had to cut that out quick though. I highly encourage any of you who don't have a range finder or gps to get one. $129 off Amazon. Hit my driver much more consistently, but used it less than I normally would. Wide open or dogleg rights I brought out the ol banger and hit away. Tight fairways or dogleg lefts I used my 4 hybrid to keep it in play. Had my first ever eagle on a 471 yard uphill par 5. Crushed a drive to within 160 with a huge uphill. Hit 5 hybrid to 5 feet from the pin and sunk the putt. I gave a couple tiger fist pumps after that one. Also I know I don't offer much input or help for other people. I don't think I am to qualified for that yet, but hopefully my personal experiences can help others in some way.
  16. I just bought a used Adams Golf Idea 23* and love it. $50 off 2ndswinggolf.com. I could not hit my long irons well at all, and this thing fixed that problem. I have an Adams Tightlies 5 hybrid and I prefer this new Idea hybrid over it 10x. It seems much easier to find the sweet spot and just feels like a great club. I will probably buy the 19* and the 27* as well here soon. I can hit the 23* around 200.
  17. I drive a f250 extended cab,so a little more room in the back seat than a regular half ton. I just lay mine on the back seat. I also keep them in the bed uncovered when more people are riding in the truck or if I know it will not rain and I won't be anywhere someone might be tempted to steal them. I will say though the bed of the truck has not been good for my bag with them sliding around.
  18. Shot my first legit under 90 score with an 87. Had two double bogeys on the first two holes too and came back from it. Focusing on a few tips from Harvey Penicks Little Red Book and then thinking about the swing path diagrams y'all posted when I was talking about my slice seemed to help keep me focused on the current shot and not the whole round. Also having my new 23* hybrid off the teebox really helped me out. Had a lot more manageable approach shots to the green versus hitting drives out of the woods.
  19. Been back at it and it's feeling great. My bag consists of driver, 3 wood, 5hybrid, 6i-sw. . I added an Adams Idea 23* Hybrid to fill the spot in between my 5 and 3 wood. (I strike the wood horribly so really the 5 hybrid was my longest club I can confidently hit.) I played 9 holes yesterday and shot a 43 and felt great. The 4 hybrid really added a nice touch off the teebox with a little extra distance and I actually drove well when I used my driver hitting 3 out of 4 fairways. If I can consistently do this off the tee, I feel it won't be long till I can break 90. Just bought a net and turf mat to get more practice in at home when I can't make it to the range or squeeze 9 in. The grind is on.
  20. I've posted in this a while ago and just haven't been able to get over the hump. Im 25, and started playing around 3-4 years ago. I shoot 91-95 very consistently but just can't get past playing bogey golf. I shoot a couple pars, a couple dubs, and a bunch of bogeys. I am very confident once I get to the 150 but my long irons are inconsistent and I have no drive (usually hit a 4-5 hybrid off the teebox unless its a dogleg right then I swing for the fences with the ol driver). I know what I need to work on, just haven't been able to fix my slice in my drive. Usually hitting my 3rd from my playing partners 2nd shot. I think it might be time for some lessons but I don't want to look like a fool going to the pro saying hey I need to fix my drive, just like every other above average golfer who focuses on long game instead of short.
  21. Awesome thanks for the posts and the warm welcome to the community!
  22. I have been reading posts and advice from TST for a while now and decided to finally join the other day. You guys have a great community and am glad to be a part of it! I am 24 and I started playing golf for the first time 3 years ago for fun with my college roommates but have just started to really work on my game a couple months ago. Most guys I play with shoot mid 80s or so, and have been playing for a while. Right now I shoot a consistent 98-106, some days if I am finding water it might be a little higher with drops. I have a 4 year old Tight Lies set by Adams, 6i-sw, 5h, 5w, and 3w with the Adams driver. I really feel like I need a 4-5i in the bag. I can't hit my woods or driver to save my life. I do not spend a bunch of time practicing that though as I have not found an effective method to practice that has improved my contact. 90% of my drives are slices. I just graduated college and am a 7th grade teacher, so taking lessons from a pro is out of the question now. You guys will be my pro I became a member at a little par 3 course by us for $29 a month and have found that playing there over the past 2 months has caused my iron game to improve significantly but man do I need work off the tee box. I hope over the summer I can join the bogey golfers club and break 90.
  23. My game has always struggled off the tee box. My last round I left the driver at home and did not notice a significant change in my score. I was planning on ditching the driver for a while but now feel like I might look at the length of the shaft and see if that has an influence in my swing and find some drills to help fix my awful slice. If I could hit off the tee box my game would be a lot better. Played 18 yesterday and I would say on 12/18 holes I was hitting my 3rd shot from close to everyone else's 2nd shot. I only have a fairway 3W and am not much better at hitting that off the tee than my driver.
