  1. Nothing wrong with that, in my book! 😄
  2. Vokey wedges have their fan-boys, as do Cleveland, Callaway, Ping, et.al. I really think any of the major players, which would include a couple of the boutique companies, such as Edel and Sub70, all make great wedges. Everyone has different swings and needs, but there is a wedge out there for everyone!
  3. Struggled on the front with 2 doubles, one caused by an OB the other just not focused, along with just poor ball striking, shooting a 44 for the front 9. My CH for this course is a 5, so I'm behind the 8 ball with my scoring big time. Found my stride on the back and started hitting the ball better, as well as draining some nice putts. 37 on the back 9 to come in with an 81. Not great, but I was just glad that I was able to right the ship and bring home a better back 9.
  4. After a horrendous front 9 (shooting +3 over my 18 hole course handicap), I got it going on the back with a 37 that included 2 birdies on holes that I had not previously recorded since beginning this challenge. #15 hole is a shortish par 4, Driver in the fairway, wedge 9 feet to the right of the pin, and a one putt. #18 I hit a decent drive again in the fairway, then hit a 9 iron pin high to the right for a 3 foot putt to close the day with an 81.
  5. Slept poorly last night and got up around 3:30 am after tossing and turning and being unable to get back to sleep ... 9:40 tee time. I wasn't sleepy so much as just physically lackluster. As a result, I played poorly. This is the second time that I can recall recently where I didn't sleep well and subsequently played much worse than normal. I started off okay, but as the round wore on, my ball striking was increasingly less crisp, I was not focused, and my tempo was off. Physically and mentally diminished -- perfect recipe for poor play. Shot 15 strokes over my course handicap.
  6. The ball was still in play. The putt is deemed as holed and the score would be 3. Player B's concession of the 4th stroke has no bearing.
  7. Wasn't pleased with my round today, but the one birdie that I made was one not previously checked off...so there's that!
  8. Lack of greens in regulation and a poor putting day led to a disappointing 82. Drove the ball fairly well, but the GIR escaped me.
  9. Not yet, but TY .... 27th
  10. I don't remember what my first score was. But I do know now that whenever I complain to my wife about not playing well, she remarks "I remember when you couldn't break a hundred!" So, now when I shoot worse than I think I should have and she asks how it went, I simply say "great!" 🙂.
  11. Picked up a birdie on #14 yesterday. Short par 4, protected by a large oak tree on the right side that will block your approach. I hit my drive center left side of the fairway with 75 yards to the pin. Hit a 3/4 sand wedge into the front edge and it trickled toward the hole to come within 4 feet from the pin. Made the putt for the bird.
  12. Lessons that improved my ball striking and led to hitting more fairways and greens.
  13. LOL....my bad....I was reading "Schauffele"....duh!
  14. I'd guess either Reed or Na. Not sure how bad Brooks' injury is, but I hope he can make a call early enough, one way or the other.
  15. Olympics likely had some strong bonus points for him.
  16. Loved playing Stallion Mountain! And, yep, it can get pretty windy in Vegas. I lived in Fargo, ND for a couple of years and the wind there was pretty much always a major factor. But, it did force me to learn how to keep a lower flight on the ball.
  17. I hope not. I'm turning 70 in a few days.
  18. I can save you the ones that I pull out of the pond or find in the weeds 😄.
  19. Played a course that I haven't played for at least a year. It has huge greens that were rolling fast and well. Played from tees that are a bit longer than I typically play from on my home course. Shot an 80 and am not unhappy with it. I did struggle with a wet sand trap that resulted with my only double bogey, but answered it on the next hole with a nice birdie on a par 3.
  20. DJ sporting a new look
  21. How the body reacts to pressure, even at the elite level, is interesting. It's not something that I want to see shown as a matter of routine on the television broadcasts week after week, however.
  22. For me, it's a toss between the dribbled driver and the chunked chip/pitch that falls short of the green. I do more of the latter, but both are equally frustrating.
  23. By that logic, it's okay to continue doing something that's blatantly wrong simply because it's not unique and been going on for decades? "That's the way we always did it" is the worst reason to continue doing things. If you take Bryson out of the equation, is the anti-bullying stance from the PGA still a bad idea?
  24. Whether or not respect should be earned, disrespect should never be acceptable.
