You actually put a pretty good move on the ball. I would would say just time on the range and playing for improvement. To be picky, you may want to work on your leg action a little. Your feet are very square, and that has you boxed in a little (inhibiting leg action). Watch some you tube video of the top players and watch their legs. Something that is often over looked. -Beane

No Roll Collar/Long Golf Shirts
DBeane replied to bpgolferguy's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Some of the nicer shirts (Nike, Cutter and Buck, etc...) have longer tails and the collars seem to stay straiter longer. However, I found that rather than spending 100 bucks on a shirt. I just buy the shorts/pants that have rubber sewn into the waste band. The rubber gives the waste band some grip and my shirts stay in place. Great invention. -Beane -
Curing road rage? I keep it in check by simply accepting the fact that most people are un-evolved gorillas that stuff their head in their ass before they even start their cars. So, by accepting this as fact, I then expect that type of behavior and it prevents the stress. Another example would be my basset hound Manfred, he eats his own poop. I have tried all the fixes (supplements, telling him no, etc...). So, rather than getting mad at him, I just pick up the poop once a day...and everyone is happy. Happy Holidays, -Beane

I found a device similar to this in a dime bin at a Golfsmith in Austin around 7 years ago. Very helpful, I would recomend it as well, great for keeping your backswing in shape. -Beane

Lots of good advice from the crew here. A goofy 1 liner I heard from a preacher one time was "your eyes were placed on the front of your head for a reason". Now, he was just trying to say something inspirational so as to coax the viewers into sending money. A good observation none the less. I would say learn from the past, don't dwell on it. I try to not waste any time, because you cant get it back once its gone. Christmas does loose its luster over the years, lots of things do that you wouldnt think should. Thats one of the things I love about golf; every morning the course is freshly mowed and its brand new again, it cant get old. -Beane

You actually put a good move on the ball for a rookie. I would focus on keeping your head quite. However, in the second video it didnt seem to move that much. -Beane

...and still is good for golf. This little hick up in his career 20 years from now will amount to nothing more than a small paragraph in his "wiki". People that pick at Tiger for his activities off the course are no different than people that vote for politicians based on their religious beleifs. Tiger was is and will always be a great player, thats where he should be kept, on the golf course. What he does off the golf course amounts to nothing but useless information, that, in reality means nothing to anyone except that it gives idiots like John Feinstein something to talk about. -Beane

Are my days carrying 2-iron over?
DBeane replied to onthehunt526's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Good thing that "tour pro" isnt your physical therapist. I would say focus on recovering 100%, and then hit what you want to hit. Hang tough and well wishes for a speedy recovery. -Beane -
I'll put one on the WGC match play event, him and Elin will really tired of looking at each other by then.

Tiger’s Concubines… Which Strumpet Is The Hottest?
DBeane replied to Uber$winG's topic in The Grill Room
I would say its a toss up between Jamie and Rachel, but Elin rolls them all up and smokes them. -Beane -
1. Be careful with a back issue, that can be a game killer. Go to you tube and check out some different swing threories. The old Moe Norman, natural golf and the stack and tilt ideas seem to take some strain off of the back. Anything that keeps you away from a lot of lower body action into the ball can take stress off your back. 2. Try adjusting your ball position forword in your stance (I usually use the breast logo on the left side of my golf shirt as a reference), make sure you are keeping your head quiet, and that your not crowding the ball. Those are great places to start if your digging squirril graves. -Beane

Weight on the balls of your feet, hands under your chin at address and keep your head quiet. Miss hits on the face are usually set-up issues or pivot issues (you may be swaying off the ball slightly). Thats where I would start. -Beane

Glad she is OK. A scary moment I recall was the first time mine slept all through the night. I woke up in a panic thinking they must be dead...nope...just hungry and in need of a fresh diaper. I'm taking my boy to the driving range for the first time this weekend, should be fun. -Beane

Ball position, and set-up. Make sure they are consistant, if that or the previous tips dont help...post a video. I would like to see this. Good Luck, -Beane

With your shorter irons try keeping your weight on your left side through out the swing. That should move the bottom of your swing ahead of the ball. If that doesnt help then your probably raising up or "flinching" at the shot. In that case, stay down, tighten up, and work on punch shots, get your confidence back with the short clubs. Then work back into more full swings. This always helps me if my short irons misbehave, -Beane

The idea wasn’t to exaggerate the examples, more so to illustrate how celebrities/winners/champion athletes get away with things that would get normal people jailed, fired, fined etc.. The stones were not directed at Tiger, I'm just as big a fan as any. They were more so directed at the bi-polar behavior of the people who will call for a police officer to be fired for writing a celebrity a ticket for running a red light. Yet, the celebrity gets off with a warning for the pound of pot he has in the trunk. The general theme on the majority of the responses seemed to be critical of Tiger's behavior. The "people love winners" idea was more a response to the criticism. I don’t have a problem with Tigers behavior at all; he has a very explosive, emotional personality which, on the positive side (fist pumps, victory shouts, etc...) sells a lot of that junk Nike golf equipment and ad space for networks. On the negative side he can appear "hissy" at times. I would say his behavior is actually very consistent. People should expect it, not criticize it. I have to say on the positive side it was kind of cool to get my first muti-quote rebuttal from the owner. -Beane

If it was a lower ranked player, they might have DQ'ed him. When your a guy like Tiger and your making tournaments, sponsors, cities, etc... that much money just by showing up, and playing as well as he does. He could punch out a 14 year old girl wanting an autograph, and they would say "well, Tiger appears to be a bit frustrated with himself, none the less that girl shouldnt have gotten in his way, we'll have security escort her off the property" People love winners, winners get away with anything because people love winners. A-Rod used (uses) steroids, Ted Kennedy killed a chick, John Daly acts like an inbread backwoods moron, I dont even know where to start with NFL players and shooting themselves, fighting dogs, Michael Irvin and cocaine. Yet people still scream their names, and throw money at them. -Beane

Your swing plane is fine for now. Your right hip isnt doing anything that I would consider odd. If anything you seem to have a bit of a reverse pivot working. If your trying to do the stack and tilt thing, you need to keep your weight more-so on your left side throughout the entire swing. If you goal is a more traditional pivot. Get your head behind the ball at address, keep it quite, and make sure you get off your right side going through the shot. It may feel like you are "hanging" on your left side. Thats OK, you just never want your weight moving backwards. -Beane

If your a righty, typically a glove or towel under the right arm is a good drill. I sat and watched Sean O'Hair hit full drivers for 15 minuets and the glove never moved. A towel under both arms is a good 3/4 drill. I cant say I have heard of left arm only for a right handed player. However, if you were having trouble swinging the club to far out to "right field", I suppose it could help. -Beane

Left Hand Swing Video/Shanks Trouble
DBeane replied to MikeLowry5's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
First of all we do not say the "S" word. Get your weight on the balls of your feet. I prefer to see people's knees more so out over your toes. If you start on your heels, you will have to move your weight foreword to push off your left foot. I believe this can cause just enough movement to get you out on to the s word. I would start there. -Beane -
There is a blend between good mechanics and actually executing a shot. Hogan said train your swing, then trust it. I practice mechanics to engrain them into muscle memory, that may not result in a good shot. However, if what your working on is correct, you should see positive results. Keep working on it, -Beane

After a year and a half and it sounds like your studying some good material. I would say great progress so far. I believe a lot of improvement will come by your own work and study. You would be suprised at some of the doo doo's that post a video of themself in flip flops and a hoodie with their Moms 7 wood asking "what am I doing wrong?" Great work so far.. -Beane

Footjoy Classics, they cost a bit more, but they last forever. -Beane

I would say its critical, especially when we're talking about horizontal movement, you want to keep your head as still as possible. As far as virtical movement, many great ball strikers have a "squat" that will make their head drop slightly. I have always thought this was a by product of keeping your head still (horizontally), yet putting a good pivot on the ball. -Beane

Check your alignment, it may just be a tendancy of your to line up right. Shorten up your back stroke, the shorter I can move the blade back the bigger the hole looks. Also, you may try sacrificing a goat, changing religions, have Benny Hinn cast the demons out of your putter, or putt left handed. Once you are getting the ball to roll end over end, putting is all confidence and feel. You may try just camping out at golf smith amogst their thousands of putters for a day and pick you a new one. Thats what I do when my putter gets funky. I am happy to say I am currently in a long term relationship with a white hot Odyssey and things are going great. -Beane
