Not quite as extreme as a drill or Willett, but I have an early wrist set -- it helps me not get my swing ridiculously long. Seems that people generally stop their swing when their wrists are set. Nothing wrong with it IMHO.

As a teacher in a non-golf area -- Teach them to enjoy golf for fun and not let it become a semi-job, ESPECIALLY at that age. There will be kids who become passionately interested in it without any extra coaxing, and a great many of them will have mom and dad "forcing" their interest in something like golf anyway, so the last thing they need is any sort of golf mentor going down that line too. When I was in middle school and younger, I still remember the fascination and excitement that I had going to the course and driving range with my grandfather, and just how cool it was to watch the ball machine fill up the bucket with balls. Now, when I practice sometimes, I put tokens in the machine like it's punishment and haul off with my buckets of balls. Yikes. Not what I want to do really. Trying to get back to that first feeling. Boils down to this: Teach fun first and hard work follows as a natural result. Teaching hard work like it's a job will not produce fun. Just my two cents.

I know how you feel when you're waiting for clubs to come in and you've paid for them -- then you wonder and pray that they'll work! Keep us updated on how you get on with them. I love the PING brand and aside from my putter and one wedge, all my clubs are PING. They make amazing things and have incredible service. Tell us how they work out!

Been awhile since I've been able to drop by TST! Guess that's what happens with school. We are most definitely cheating the weather here in CO. It was 52 degrees today, so I went to hit some balls. Still just working on smoothing out transition and improving sequence. Swing much more compact now, which lets me get my hands more forward at impact. Reasonably satisfied with how things are going though.

Hard to tell from the angle alone, but you are definitely suffering some lateral head movement toward the target during your swing. This is a must not-have. All great players keep their heads moving still or even moving backwards during the downswing (don't try to move it backwards, but it could be a good feel). That's about all I can feel confident in saying from that angle, but it's a big death move. Can't move your head toward the target, because it pushes your swing path right (as it's your body's way of trying to fix steepness), and causes you to lose your spine tilt away from the target.

For what it's worth, if you really do like PING clubs and like those clubs and can get fit, go for it. Rarely -- very rarely -- will you ever find any discounts on PING. Even places like Golfsmith and budgetgolf and other online stores always have PING exempt from sales and percentage coupons. Nice as a customer though knowing that you'll basically be paying the same price no matter what If you like PING and want new clubs and can afford it go for it

One of the first videos I've done after practicing with the new irons. Having some issues hitting things left (as is evident in this clip), but not too displeased with the swing as a whole. Driver swing is a different story

Maybe I'm just a little more tolerant than most people because I'm just thankful to be playing golf and not sitting in class, but lots of this stuff doesn't bother me. The slow play (and things that result in slow play, like going Jim Furyk on shots to top it 10 yards down the fairway) are the only things that really get at me. I'm guilty of talking to my ball here and there, and I have a PING poker chip that I got at the HQ in AZ that I've used on a couple of rounds to be fun (but I move it if asked, of course). Hopefully I don't come off as annoying to others. :/ But really, though, I'm just glad to be out on the course. As I tell playing partners, "I may suck today, but I promise I'll suck quickly. "

I find that when I try to "steer" the ball is when I lose clubface control and then driving turns into a close your eyes and hope for the best situation. In fact, I think sometimes I might hit better drives if I did close my eyes. In all seriousness, the more of a steer job you try and put on a ball the worse it's going to end up for you. I even started steering them on the driving range. Something that has helped me, at least recently, is going to the driving range and my last balls from the bucket I'll just swing as hard as I possible can in balance at them, and I don't give an ounce of care about where they end up. Slice, hook, whatever. I know, it sounds strange, but if nothing else it made me swing as fast as I could in control, and not think about so much where I'm steering the ball. It's helped quite a bit. I got it in my head that I was so afraid to lose the ball on a hole or something I could never actually just swing at one to hit it. But if I'm going to be in the trees, most always I'll take 250 out somewhere in the trees over 200 out somewhere in the trees. Just my two cents

Again I find myself here posting a huge THANK YOU to all the folks at PING in AZ. What an awesome company. I can't believe the lengths they have gone to for me, "just a customer." Now I will shout praises from all golf courses. I got to my new driver in action today, and it's definitely an adjustment to my last setup; however, it looks just so awesome that it's hard to pass up, and the shaft definitely did its thing in lowering my ball flight! I think it's funny that this setup happened to be what I was custom fit into. (And when golf works tells you the only shaft they have is pink...) Had some major time heel hits on it, just horrible shots, but that was because I hit way more golf balls than normal today, as it was a day off school so I had to make it worthwhile! It's the same mistake I always make when I'm tired, though. (After all, strike will be me all the time anyway). It's a definite heavier set up than I'm used to, but all in all very pleased with it. I am so thankful for PING and what they did to get this driver to me. Proud to represent PING at my home course, tournaments, and proud to show off the pink and the causes it supports.What was not a bad shot at all, though, was this awesome in-action picture a fellow photographer friend was able to get of me today! Keep on swingin'

But I don't need to hit my wedge 400 yards. In all seriousness, I don't know personally but from what I have heard from other folks is that they're "OK." I wouldn't skimp in the wedge department though for something just "OK." If you're searching for that price point, I would take a look at Tour Edge Exotics stuff too. My two cents

Thanks, everybody! I appreciate the kind comments. One of those clubs that you're not sure whether you want to go and play with it every day, or put it in a shadowbox and never let anyone touch it again.

For those who don't know, for my actual "job," I am a professional photographer. I recently picked up a few putters from a now out-of-business company called PLOP, and they are just gorgeous putters, so I had to photograph them and I wanted to share. I was looking for a center shafted putter, as it was what I was fit into. Unfortunately I can't stand the look of center shafted putters so every one I've ever tried was just not an option. That is, until I found an old (what would be original version) of a putter my grandfather had in his bag called a PLOP. I looked up this particular brand and found that it was no longer in business, but best of all, the owner/inventor of the putter made what he calls a CSH putter, that is Center shafted hosel, but the hosel is "floated" through the heel end of the putter, still welded and attached to the center. Even better, he was selling the rest of what he had milled on Ebay, including a few special putters. So I get to look down at what is a blade style, while still having my center shafted putter. It was a downright bargain for a milled putter, too. I have in photography what we call GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome), and sadly it translates to golf, too. I ended up buying 3 putters. One is a very wonderful black PVD finish, and the other is a nickel PVD finish that was tour-stamped, both very limited editions. I will do my best to photograph these and upload at some point, too. In any case, I wanted to share a few of the images here. Unfortunately I can't upload the full size quality files but hopefully everyone enjoys a few of these. On a side note, golf clubs are actually extremely fun photographic subjects. (Wasn't sure if this would fall under "clubs," but I thought it was more of a golf story/tidbit with the pictures. Have some awesome news and a little story (and pictures!) first of all I wanted to give a huge, massive thanks to PING for really taking care of me, putting up with requests, and doing everything they could to make me happy. Which is not always easy to do. I think I've been more or less converted . I've always wanted a set of PING clubs and now it has happened New sticks came in today! And they look awesome. Recently a close friend was diagnosed with cancer, so those close to them are trying to show our constant support in any way we can. Plus, pink is really my favorite color. And as we all know, PING is not a stranger to mixing pink with their golf equipment, so I cannot express truly how thankful I am to everyone with PING for doing this for me. The alignment line (bottom groove) is also in pink but I wasn't able to upload that as well because of file size. cant wait to hit these. Kind of. Part of me also wants to put them in a shadow box so I can drool forever

Yeah, that would be interesting to know. When I get the putter in hand with it and try it out I can report back. Seems to be a feel-related thing, but they seem interesting.

This You can't create or "hold on to lag" in this sense. Lag happens as a result of good, matching sequence and parts. Trying to hold lag and firing your hips and lower body out as fast as you can at the start is a good way to do the exact opposite of it. Work on getting your swing in sync and your body will create the requisite amount of lag -- properly. Contribute to TST and post a My Swing thread, and that'd be a good way to start improving your swing.

I have them, on my wedges only. On my other clubs I kind of faked the same effect with a NCMC grip that I put four wraps on the bottom portion. They're awesome grips, just not cheap. Awesome looking deals on the bay for them, but the cynic in me questions the legitimacy of some of them. Counterfeit grips can be a thing. The cynic in me also sees that the seller who is advertising a majority of the listings has a 96% positive feedback (whereas usually you go with 99% or better for the most part) and is based in Taiwan. Not saying it's a total deal breaker, but it makes me scratch my chin.

Clubfitters and putter experts please help! A putter I recently got my hands on that I'm very excited about (can post more, and some pictures later!) has a particular shaft that is, apparently, somewhat uncommon. I know nothing at all about putter shafts, but could someone tell me anything about this at all? -- Supposedly, the shaft in this putter is a "True Temper fluted and stepped stainless steel under black PVD finish" and I pride myself on knowing my golf lingo especially when it comes to the technical stuff that I like, but I am at a total loss here. What on earth is a fluted shaft? How does this apply to a putter? Supposedly True Temper no longer makes them, but that may be false. Did some digging online about this and that turned up nothing, so maybe I'm just not searching for the right thing. Anyway... Any help very much appreciated.
