1. I enjoyed reading your review! As I use TM drivers, it was interesting to see how the G30 compared to your SLDR. Glad that your G30 won out in the end though. It was really neat hearing about the fitting process, and glad it's not so scary if you aren't necessarily a very low handicap. Thanks for writing your review -- enjoy that super shiny new driver on the course.
2. Absolutely need to get new video up. I've been to the driving range twice in the past week, which isn't as much as I usually go, but both times I'd have to say trying to do this drill I've not hit a single good shot. At all. I've buried the club into the ground an awful lot though, even on short shots. It it definitely feels different, but it hasn't been the kind of different I am used to when I change something. It has been very uncomfortable different. Just st have to get another video and see what's going on I guess.
3. Great, thanks. Will check it out after the move then. : )
4. Just wondering if this is still something that we can do? Or when it will be available to sign up again?
5. Whoa, definitely wasn't expecting my own video! That's pretty awesome. Thanks so much for this. Can't wait to get trying these things.
6. Fantastic posts. Thank you very much. I'll definitely take a look at those more in depth in the meantime. I feel like a carbon copy of some of those pictures. Definitely good to see the good camera angle as well. Thanks for all of your help again. :) look forward to hearing what else you have for me soon! (P.S. Question -- camera angle was okay? Think I got it right but want to know if there's anything else I could adjust.)
7. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out. When mvmac checks back on my elbow work (since he's the one who suggested that work in the first place), I can search for something else to work on, too. But would like to see how I'm doing on that first. I really don't feel like I have an issue with weight transfer, but I guess I can take a look. I only say that because I'm already off my right heel at impact, but maybe that doesn't mean anything at all. I'm not an expert
8. That looks like a funky drill -- I don't discredit it, but what is it supposed to do? I'd guess it would be a weight transfer drill, but I don't feel like I have any trouble with that (feel ain't real, perhaps) but it'd be good to know what it's meant for. I've never seen it before, but certainly looks interesting.
9. I come bearing beautiful DTL video! : ) (That would be the video, itself, is beautiful, and none of the content within. LOL). Sorry for all the previous bad videos. As I said no excuse with my profession really. Anyway, hope this helps a little bit and also I've been given lots more insight into what's going on too, I think. Darn, who knew about the camera angle thing. (No excuse for not seeing that, either. :) ) So I have a host of issues I'm sure, and if you ask me what I wanted to fix/change, I'd say "everything,", so instead I'll just see what advice I get here and what I should attack first.
10. Agree. And as a professional photographer it's quite sad I need to be told that. Oops. : ) Anyway, once I get a different tool for my tripod I'll be able to get my right camera set up at the correct height. Right now it has a screw that won't fit the bottom of my camera. Thanks for the article though. Will be sure to find a better way to sort that out. It's a bit tough because the driving range is by no means flat, but I'm sure I'll be able to get something sorted.
11. Also, the bane of my golf existence was a tommy armour driver that was some solid brick of I don't know what loft uniflex thing that I wanted to throw into the pond. It had a classic black crown with a silver face, and to this day I can't use drivers that look so similar to that. Which is too bad really. Wish I could get over myself because I get Srixon stuff at a discount and I hear good stuff about their drivers. Just brings back bad memories. : )
12. No, it's not a big advantage and it doesn't make my ball go any farther, but I've always just liked it. And I suppose you grow accustomed to something. Dunno, just the white with the black face is something I really like. *shrug*
13. Maybe I'm the odd one out here but I've always absolutely loved the white drivers. It's nice looking down and not seeing a giant sunspot, to me at least. I'm kind of upset the M1 isn't completely white because on some test videos I see the sunspot running back again. A bit irritating because I never see sun on the white part of the M1, it's always on the back. Especially when TM touts it as a big feature -- and I think it is. Guess I could get used to it. For what it's worth, R15 compared to SLDR is much more forgiving. If the M1 works for me better than the R15, I'll definitely grab it. In any case, the golf store nearby is getting some demos this weekend I believe so it'll be fun to try it out at least.
14. Was able to get a DTL video today, woo hoo! YouTube might still be processing it but I'll post it anyway Anyway, I don't think my elbow is getting so bad anymore. But maybe my feel was right and it's getting a little too much to the point of a flying elbow. Also, it definitely looks like I'm coming majorly out to in. So odd, because it doesn't feel like that. Ah well. Who knows how I get anything going straight. You'd think I'd be slicing it with how it looks like on the video but oddly enough I'm not. Most of my flights seem fairly straight with some fades. Still, with how the courses around me play I'd love to hit a draw someday. That's for another day I suppose though. :) Feedback, etc., as always, very appreciated.
15. Thanks both for the replies. As I said, thankfully I'm not playing this time around! But since it is a tournament, I assume everyone would play from the same (likely the back?) tees? Unless I don't know about that either! :) Good thoughts, both of you! I'm definitely in no hurry to go out and play that sort of long course. Someday. Someday I'll get longer yardages too, even if it kills me.
16. Maybe this is a non-issue, but mostly I'm just curious for myself and maybe I'll have a couple of tips to pass along to my fellow club teammates at school. :) Being relatively new to golf, is there anything special to adjust in playing longer courses? Do you have any general tips for playing a really long course? Any personal anecdotes about a long course you've played yourself? The guys on the club team have an important tournament coming up in awhile, and the course 'we' (thank heavens I'm not playing in this tournament). Even though we have altitude helping us along a bit, the back tees from the course measure just almost at 8,100 yards. Includes a 538 par 4, and a 230 something par three over water. I'm sure some of massive yardages is to get players putting thinking caps on and partial plain intimidation. But if in a couple of years I'd like to try and join the tournaments with the team too... I just don't even think I can fathom that kind of yardage. If I'm lucky I might be able to get a driver to 230 with a bunch of roll on it? (Hoping that extra length off the tee comes with experience, and I won't be stuck at 230 with altitude on a driver forever, heh.) But anyway -- yeah. Like I said. Thoughts, advice, personal stories all welcomed.
17. Take my non expert advice for what it's worth, but just from looking it looks like your right hand may be creeping under the grip. I know at least from me personally it's something I fight, and if I let that right hand get too much under I start missing everywhere. Also, just an off topic comment but your follow through hurts my back. :P - that doesn't give you any issues? Just curious.
18. Definitely -- run through it a few times now. Just a matter of continuing to integrate it through good practice. Appreciate all of the help
19. Yeah, I'm looking to get a DTL video soon -- the range I go to makes it harder to get DTL than face on, but probably a good idea to just stick with the one thing for now. Still, sometimes, when I am working on the elbow, I feel like I get almost a Nicklaus-esque flying right elbow, which I guess isn't a bad thing in itself, but all the same -- any advice, then, on how to reconcile that feeling?
20. Had a lesson with my pro the other day. Went pretty good, and still working on a few things. I like him as a teacher, but I just think sometimes he's not great at explaining things. Haha. Anyway, was wondering if I could get some help with a couple of things. He agreed with my elbow issue, so I'm continuing to work on that pretty hard. I think it's gotten a lot better as I keep focusing on it. I know this is not a great place to be in, and I feel like these two photos are probably connected. Also, I feel like my distance issue might be related to these images as well. Is there something I can practice that can stop me from dumping the club so early? I've seen so many causes and reasons for it posted around the internet that I have no idea why I, specifically, am even doing it, let alone how to fix it. I feel like this is still a flip, though not nearly as bad as I used to be. I was able to fix my severe flip to here fairly easily, but now I'm not sure from here what's going wrong. Obviously, I'm hitting ground before ball here, so that's definitely not ideal for distance and power, either. What I have noticed is that right after impact it's pretty much a "flip" again, but then my forearms cross, etc. and I seem to do a normal follow through, so not sure if the post impact flip is an issue, or just a thing. Or, if these two images are results and not causes, I'm open to whatever either way. Would just like to improve the picture here. Downswing looks way too out and wide. In any case, appreciate anyone's thoughts.
21. Was next to a guy on the driving range the other day, whose buddy was with him. Every single swing, 'whoops, you lifted your head up.' Had my eye twitching.
22. As I continue to work on things I hope to get a couple new videos up soon. I did have a question however And before I am tarred and feathered, I am aware this question is near blasphemous on TST :P Would there be any benefit to my squaring my feet back at address, even temporarily -- or even maybe squaring back my trail foot? I know the benefits of flaring my feet, but I've noticed a few things -- flaring my feet helps me turn more fully, but one of my issues right now is over rotating my hips. Also, my left knee has started popping because of some reason. No idea if it is because of my feet but it didn't used to happen golfing. Anyway, I just wasn't sure if for anybody flaring the feet may ever be a hindrance to things. Some people have a magical story about when they first flared their feet they hit the ball much better but I haven't found that to be the case with me. It doesn't feel like it makes a huge difference, but I could be wrong I suppose. Just wanted to collect some opinions on this.
23. Hey now! I have a TM driver and I like it. I don't cave the thing in, either. :D
24. Yeah... Might help to see what exactly happened with it? What did Ping tell you?
25. Not sure how much it might help you, but I always find if I do a slow motion swing (like, really slow) and do what I need to do, or what I'm trying to do, over and over again, that it helps me. It has helped my flipping issue quite a bit. :)
