I would hate to hear what you would have to say about some of my on course antics. That barely scratches the surface of rude.

I could argue about everything and anything. I may have some pivot, but it definitely isn't what I'm thinking about. Putting more weight on your leading foot actually decreases your ability to pivot. It puts you in the impact position before you even take a back swing. You probably flubbed your shots because you decelerated before impact... Finish high if you want the ball to go high. Finish low if you want the ball to go low. My bro, a 2 time club champ, uses his 8 with great success when he is on the frog hair. I have better luck with my 52* or 56*. I need some practice on the 8. I got up and down 10 times on Sunday and 8 times on Saturday. All of my chips were within 10'. My playing partners told me that they were salivating over my short game... My golf instructors best attribute is his short game...

slice due to shaft flex or bad swing mechanics
ted dibiase replied to golfnuub's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
you probably aren't finishing your swing. Make sure that in your follow through pose your right elbow and shoulder are the closest things to the target. That is a pretty good indicator that you have actually gotten your torso through the impact zone. -
Obviously there are a million different ways to get the club face to make contact with the ball. I only offered up what you could do to eliminate shanking it. I would still argue that there shouldn't be a pivot on a chip. Maybe a pitch, but definitely not a chip. By "setting the angle" you are just insuring that you are keeping your hands in front of the club face. That is definitely a key to chipping. I think it would be really hard to pivot when I am chipping... You don't need the extra power. You don't need the additional moving parts. I'm not sure how a pivot would help.

there really isn't much of a pivot when you are chipping. Are you talking about pitching? When you chip try to eliminate as much movement out of your body as possible. That in turn eliminates many things that could go wrong. Try to swing with only your arms, keep the club face pointed at the target the whole time, keep your lower body silent, and don't try to get too cute.

What irons would you recommend for a 90s shooter?

I'm partial to the AP2's but I also liked the Mizuno MP-52's. Find a demo day somewhere and attend. -
I use my 60* all over the place. I hit it about 60 yards, I like to pitch with it around the greens and in deep rough, I can chip with it around the greens and keep it really low. I use it so much that I wonder sometimes if I'm missing out by not using my 56* or my 52* around the greens.

the suckers are to blame just as much as the people selling them.

Are you related to Tom Sizemore? Not the actor but a dude in his late 30's that now lives in the Ville? -
trust me, I'm a 5.4 handicap, it matters.

I think I need to see a pic of this girl before I can give any sound advice.

100 yards and in is where the majority of golf strokes occur. It really doesn't matter much what you do before that unless you are incurring a lot of penalties. Surely you guys can hit your longer clubs inside 100 yards of the green... When you say your short game is solid, I'm guessing it really isn't. If you have a solid short game, you are chipping/pitching within 10' of the hole and then sinking the majority of those putts. If you aren't doing that, your short game isn't solid.

I'll take one Gulbis with a side of Creamer. Wait, what are we talking about?

New Mizuno irons spy photos!!

They look beautiful! One thing I don't like about my ap2's is that there is too much going on on the back of the club. These are simple but it appears that they have weight in the right places and probably have a thin top line. I want! Send them to me!!! -
I had to hit one yesterday. I was behind a couple of trees, so I needed to hit a low hook about 150 yards. I used my 5 iron, but probably should have hit a 7 or 6. I lined up so that I would miss the trees, but turned the club in my hands so that it was aimed at the target. I then swung normally for a punch shot. The ball came out of the rough nice and low, then hooked around the obstructions. Unfortunately the ball went a little too far and my chip wasn't good enough to 1 putt, but I was very pleased that the ball did essentially what I wanted it to do.

That is a really good article about legs. In the beginning of the year that is almost solely what I worked on. Before too long I was hitting it long and straight. My cap dropped to it's lowest point ever, a 5. Recently I haven't been hitting the ball as purely and have been coming out of my swing. I can almost guarantee it is because my legs are getting crazy and I'm straightening my right leg. I have a lesson today. I will definitely discuss working on my legs and it will be my focus for the next month in preparation for my club championship.

If you could emotionally seperate yourself but keep the physical contact that would be the best of both worlds. Tell her that you want to see her once a month during the school year and then in the summer time. In between times just bang lots of chicks.

that will help, but your short game is where the majority of a golfer's storkes occur. On every par 4 a 17.9 handicapper isn't likely to get on the green in 2. They probably get around it in 2 and then start messing up chips/putts. If you could chip close and one putt you could shave so many strokes off of the card it is ridiculous. I know that when I was a 20+ the slicing/hooking hurt, but didn't account for the majority of my strokes. The majority came from chipping it back and forth across the green and then 3 putting...

Easiest to hit Hybrid for a High Handicapper
ted dibiase replied to Knockglock's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've only played with one hybrid, a cobra 20* with a baffler pro shaft. It is easy to hit when I make a good pass at the ball. -
chipping. If you chip close you don't have to hit good approach shots, good drives, or good putts. I guess the same could be said about putting, but there is more luck involved with rolling in a 20 footer.

get your shoulders parallel with the ground and then play the ball back in your stance. How far back in your stance typically is determined by the steepness of the hill. Your ball is typically in line with your spine. As you adjust your shoulders to be parallel with the ground your spine angle moves. Make sure your ball position moves in relation to the movement of your spine angle. There was a tidbit about these shots on the golf fix a few weeks ago. It is probably on the golf fix website if there is one.

bought one last year. it is too expensive and your glove isn't the problem... I'll stick with the footjoy weather sof. They last a long time and give me adequate grip.
-
I have been in a slump for a few weeks. I think I am coming out of it though. I forgot to turn back and turn through. I was quitting at impact and/or not making a good/full torso turn. It took a few hours pounding my 7 iron to get it back together.
-
turn back and turn through. If you are slicing you are probably forgetting to complete your swing and turn through. On your finish your hands should be high above your left shoulder and your sternum should be pointing at the target. You might also pay attention to the basics...grip, ball position, posture, etc.
