  1. I owned them for approximately 3 weeks, worst iron I've ever placed in my bag. CMM was a disaster for Cleveland Golf, and you'll notice that based on how quickly they were replaced by their current line up. My suggestion? Avoid them at all costs.
  2. The mat is thinner than the carpet in my office lobby. As I mentioned in my initial post, the net doesn't open as advertised, not even close. Someone mentioned a cage? Can you link me to what you're using?
  3. The instructions suggest that you just toss it out 6 feet and it opens up. LMFAO!! After at least an hour of tinkering, and another 20 minutes of folding it back up, I'm tossing it back on the store counter for a complete refund. Oh, and their mat is a joke as well, at 80.00 and 149.00 I expect better quality that what I got here...
  4. So you're inferring that if a golfer doesn't break 90, he doesn't deserve new clubs? In my mind, once I've lost confidence in a club, it's gone, that's it. Doesn't matter your score, confidence is the name of the game and if a new club inspires confidence at address and it's fit to the player, it's not going to hurt his game and could possibly help. Actually it seems like you are trying to say that you're a better player because of your equipment or lackthereof. It's either that, or you have bag envy. People have hobbys, some have a quite a few, I have one really and it's golf. As an American consumer, I have every right to buy whatever I like. Now... Off to put batteries in my new rangefinder :)
  5. I think in most cases, Winn would probably be more expensive actually. In my mind, I've always been a firm believer in you get what you pay for, I paid for the multi-compounds, put them on everything other than my putter, and I love them. That being said, there are plenty of grips that aren't quite as much that are still great in their own right. The Lamkin Crossline and Golfpride Tour Velvet are both excellent, time tested grips, that are available corded.
  6. Being a father of two, let me correct this for you... "Thanks dad, you didn't have to buy me clubs at all, but you picked a set that do most things reasonably well."
  7. Love my Burner TP! I've got the Graphite Design 65g stock TP shaft in stiff, the ball flight is flatter; guessing thats attributed to less spin for me. My HiBore would balloon fairly frequently, and it had a bit of a hook face; the Burner TP seems to be perfectly square. My miss is a hook, so it's nice to see that turn over less. As for looks, well, it aint the promqueen at address. But then again, if it costs 600.00 to take the promqueen out and play, I'm not interested. And if ugly is long and straight, I'm all about ugly. Besides, the crown graphics grow on you after a while and so far, I'm the only one that I've met in person that thinks it's ugly. But hey, that's why there are so many drivers on the market, different strokes for different folks.
  8. I'm sure some people will disagree with this, but in my opinion, putting is a completely different part of the game than full swing, pitch, and even chip shots. That being said, while there are some best methods out there, it is widely acknowledged that if a putting stroke works and it isn't "fundamentally sound" it still works. Also, it's more understood that if you find a putter that feels good, and you roll the ball really well, it doesn't matter if it's a mallet, a blade, anser, belly putter, etc. So if you've found what you honestly believe is... "The One" BUY IT AND KEEP IT AS LONG AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN. I used to play with an anser style putter a long time ago, it was an older Odessey model with a black insert. My putting started to slip and I ditched it for a mallet. That mallet didn't work so I went to a Futura, that didn't work so I finally removed my head from my hindquarters, and went back to an anser style putter. My putting has improved DRAMATICALLY. The only person who knows if this putter is the right one is you. The only words of advice I have is to never ever sell a putter. Even if you buy a new one, even if you end up with a room full of them, keep the old ones because you never know when you'll wanna go back on lean the, "The One"
  9. Just went and looked at pics of them... Meh, they don't appear to be anything special, just a rebadged i5 with the toe weighting technology from the Rapture irons added in. Ping's players cavity back really haven't changed since the i3 blade IMO. Although if you love Ping, this one will appeal to you as well.
  10. You are misinformed, Srixon makes excellent clubs. The I-503 and I506 are excellent forged irons, a lot of players would tell you they both have the feel of a Mizuno forging with a little bit more fogiveness than the MP60. The new 701's look to be some of the nicest irons coming out this season. You put those alongside the new MP-57's, and I only pick Mizuno because Srixon isn't offering the 701 Left-handed right away. I guess my point is, it doesn't have to say Taylormade or Titleist to be solid brand name. Are they the right clubs for this particular player? Only his golf pro, a ceritifed club fitter, or himself would know the answer to that question.
  11. I don't think you can go wrong with either... I hit and loved the Superquad, I prefered the Burner, but not the standard version as the face felt more closed than the Superquad; the Burner TP was perfection for me. Get on a launch monitor and buy the one that gives you the best numbers :)
  12. Love my 60* it's my greenside sand wedge and most flexible club inside of 50 yards. Although I couldn't even imagine taking a full swing with it, longest I ever take is a 3/4, but that's the same for my 54 too. I've never thought of any wedge as a club that should be swung at even 80% at a full swing. They've always been more about feel strokes, inside 100 yards
  13. All my friends wish I was right-handed, because I've been going through clubs like boxer shorts the last two years... Drivers: Cleveland Launcher Comp Cleveland Hibore Currently playing a Taylormade Burner TP 3W: Nike T40 Cleveland HiBore Currently playing a Titleist 904F Hybrids: Added two Cleveland HALO's to the bag last year replaciing the 5W and 3I Irons: Callaway BigBertha's (2004) Cleveland CG4 Currently playing: Taylormade RAC Lt2's Wedges: Callaway BigBertha 56 - 60 Cleveland CG11's in 52, 56, 60 Cleveland 588 Gunmetal in 53, 60 Currently playing: Titleist Vokey Design Spin Milled 54, 60 Putters: Oddessy White-Hot Rossi Mallet Scotty Cameron Futura Scotty Cameron Newport Oilcan, Custom Shop restoration Currently playing: Scotty Cameron Studio Style Newport 2 If my wife only knew...
  14. I can't tell exactly how short the tee is, but I've seen shorter tees with markings on them to ensure consistent height at Golf Galaxy. I would imagine you've probably looked there though...
  15. Voted hybrid as well. The 3i from my current set has not seen the light of day. It came out of the box and went right into the "Bag of misfit clubs". I've also never considered either a 2i or 5w because of how easy a hybrid is to use. If you look hard enough, the right hybrid is out there, regardless of player type. I found mine in the HALO, and it's made the long game a hell of a lot more enjoyable to me. Nothing like addressing the ball and just KNOWING it's going to go where you want it to... Every time.
  16. I had the NV in one (HiBore) and it was alright, I've got a friend who plays the V2 in it and likes it a lot. So I'd probably suggest the V2 :)
  17. Divots are the result of a swing, plain and simple. Good swings can create divots, so can bad swings. Same can be said for a lack of divots, just a different result of a different swing. I think the point is that it's the end result of a process and that we should be more focused on the process itself. If you're making a fundamentally sound swing, and the ball is moving towards it's intended target, my thoughts are that a divot should be a non-issue one way or the other. Myself, I notice more divots with wedges than my irons, but there's no real consistency regarding frequency, I hit good an bad shots both with and without divots :)
  18. Different strokes for different folks. That's the beauty of golf, there's a driver for everyone...
  19. They truly are two different clubs... The Burner is longer, lighter, and has a closed face to help the most common miss in the game, a slice. The face is shallow, and the shaft is of lesser quality IMO (not that it matters, because you should be fitted for a shaft anyway). The TP version as mentioned in previous posts has a square to slightly open club face allowing someone like me (who's miss is a draw that turns into a pull hook) to swing more freely without concerns of a closed face grabbing the ball. The club face is also much deeper than the Non-TP variety, and the stock 65g (not 50) Graphite Designs shaft put up great numbers for me, extremely good quality shaft for a stock offering. This club has been a rocket for me, and the HiBore that it replaced, which was an excellent club in it's own right, is a distant memory...
  20. I hit it today alongside the Burner TP, both in stiff and both in 9.5. It seemed like a higher spinning head to me, launched higher as well. I'm sure a different shaft would have helped a little, but overall it was just a little too much for me; it was carrying about 8-12 yards shorter and a lot less roll. Nothing wrong with it overall though, great look at address, perfectly balanced throughout the swing, felt stable at impact, and wasn't overly loud. I would have looked harder at it if I wasn't getting the exact results I wanted out of the Burner TP. Now I just need to unload 1 each HiBore, and HiBore fwy wood in LH to make the purchase...
  21. Honestly, I thought it would be the one thing that would make me fall in love with with over my studio style. In reality, it's nice, but I could take it or leave it...
  22. This post is funny... Seriously, it made me laugh. I'm attaching the pic from above, I putted a bit with it before but you could tell someone had leaned on it pretty hard, or just plain bent it, so it was pretty far off IMO. Straight as an arrow now... Oh, and the dot lines up, it's just that the picture was taken at an angle
  23. Love em or hate em, everyone's thinking about the Irish!! The options I selected were: Original Finish (I asked for 3x oilcan but got shot down) Custom Shop Stamp (They forgot it, but refunded my $$) Name stamped on toe Sight dot Custom Shop grip in navy Custom Shop headcover in navy Restored to original loft, length and lie Total price was 315.00 plus shipping, less 35.00 refund for the missing stamp. I know, that's complicated math for a Michigan guy, so I'll provide the answer at the bottom of the post, don't cheat though, at least try the subtraction. (joking of course, it's just healthy college rivalry) a) $280.00
  24. Shhh, you're going to wake up the echo's...
