  1. i agree that is much better. i wonder what phil is going to wear tomorrow. lol.
  2. I agree. I think it was a little overdone. I expect to see them tighten it up a little bit tomorrow.
  3. If you want to play like a champion you have to dress like a champion. Tiger normally has no problem with this. I think he is generally one of the best dressed on tour. However, today that shirt was just hideous. Call me crazy but I think his play down the stretch reflected it. Having said that, he looked a hell of a lot better than Phil, who dressed like a 19 year old from Sweden.
  4. Women do not have as much clubhead speed as men. This is of course why they do not hit the ball as far and why tee position IS important. However, nobody has mentioned that this also means women generate far less spin on the ball. This can make it harder for the average female golfer to carry the ball as compared to the average male golfer. Therefore I would say that forced carries are possibly the number one thing that make a course "unfriendly" to women. This can mean carrying it over a ravine to reach the fairway OR carrying it over a bunker or pond to reach the green. In the case of approaching a green. If the approach is almost all carry they will often have a very difficult time holding the green - even if they hit a great shot. I can see how that would be very frustrating.
  5. I can't believe I just read almost this entire thread. What a waste. To 804. I not only think you have potential, I think you could probably make a decent living within the next couple of months. My advice, drop out of school and pursue golf full time. I think you could reasonably expect to be making upwards of 250K by the year 2010. Judging by your contact on the vid and your extreme distance (170yd 9 iron - DAYUM!) you should be able to leapfrog basically the majority of amateur golfers on the planet. I wouldn't worry about the fact that you can't seem to figure out how to calculate an index because when you make it big you can pay for somebody to do that for you. Good luck, Brah @Moderators. If this were my forum I would close this thread and ban this kid. There is no possible way he can be serious.
  6. It is not difficult at all to keep it on your own. Excel makes it easier but I used to keep it just with a pen, paper and a calculator for years. Look up the formula on the USGA website. It shouldn't be difficult to find.
  7. ya. at times being a golfer in the midwest can be exceedingly frustrating. However, I think there is a special little something about coming back after a long layoff that a lot of golfers in other climates never experience. This time of year I just get so excited to play golf and about the possibilities for the upcoming season. I can't imagine that those with one or two month layoffs feel the same way. Don't get me wrong though. Sometimes I just wonder how I got so screwed location wise when I see the sun shining and green golf courses in other parts of the country.
  8. wow. you guys are pretty sensitive. You guys can keep your iron covers...I'm really not that worried about it. Sorry that I hurt your feelings.
  9. BAHAHA. I think the word you meant is SCOFF. However you were correct in saying "scuff" Because that is what people with iron covers generally do - Scuff it around the course. In all seriousness though, dude, chill out. I've never called anybody out for having iron covers. However, if anybody made me wait while I watched them fish balls out of the pond they would most certainly get an earful.
  10. This thread is hilarious. My 2 cents... If I see somebody with iron covers or a ball retriever (even more so for the ball retriever) I immediately lose respect for them. I also assume they are pretty darn bad. Sure there are exceptions but these people are going to have to work even harder to change my mind. Furthermore, for the life of me I cannot figure out why anybody would want those. I play forged irons and they look great. Any chatter can be removed by strategically positioning your golf towel among your clubheads. I guess I might be able to understand iron covers if you are taking a cart. However if you are taking a cart on a walkable course you better have a damn good reason otherwise you can also lose my respect that way.
  11. I also like to write phrases on my golf ball. They generally insult my golfing buddies. Most (ok all) should not be repeated in public.
  12. hey, knockdown. i've been eyeing TPC Deere Run for a while. Would you say it is worth the drive to the quad cities from chicago for the sole purpose of playing it? That's a pretty long day. My favorite courses I've ever played are 1. Whistling Straights (Straights Course although the Irish is really good too.) 2. Medinah #3
  13. prairie landing is a pretty nice course. I only played it once but I liked it. However, in my opinion the best RTJ jr course in chicagoland is Thunderhawk which is in Lake County. It is fantastic. I'm also surprised they didn't mention Cantigny in Wheaton, which is in my opinion as good as Cog.
