  1. My experiences with Hybrids have been inconsistant. I find that most really promote a hook. I'm yet to have one I felt confortable with. Fairway woods, I've had some I really loved. They seem to hit it higher and farther than anything else with similar loft. Out of the rough they are no good, but when I'm in a situation where I can't reach the green with an iron and i'm in the rough it doesn't matter. I'm not that good. I just look to get myself in a good place that I have a chance at hitting my next one close. But this is all preference. The fairway wood will be longer because it is longer.
  2. Number 10 Kenton County Willows. It has so much slope it isn't fair. The ball will roll back to your feet.
  3. I don't know Erik. I used to work with a guy who was on UC track team who ran bare footed. I understand that our feet were built well but I'm not exactly an athlete. My arches kill without "support" shoes. I kind of think I was made to not run. Is it less correct to run heel first? That is how I feel the least impact and least effort, particularly on the long runs.
  4. Well yeah. Research, be smart. So many good retailers on ebay why not.
  5. This week was challenging. I went to spokane WA for the week for work. So I had to make myself do the training. I ran M,Tues, Wed. Did 3,3,4 then pushed back my long run till Sun of 5 miles. Overall felt good. I'm just trying to stick to my routine. I'm doing the haligon novice marathon training and this is my third week completed. I'm pretty proud that I didn't miss a run. It was hard when I was travelling. Feel good, weight is coming down a bit, my legs are changing.
  6. Haven't posted in a while. I started an 18 week novice marathon training program. I'm on week two. What the program consist of are running, Tues Wed Thurs, long saturday run then cross training sunday. First week is 3,3,3 6 then hiked on sunday for cross training, Then this week is 3,3,3, 7 I'm up to date on my schedule. Stretching a ton. Icing my left knee.
  7. I thinking your pitching motion is perfect Erik. That is what I try to feel and picture. Is there really another way? There is so much room for error in contact and still get ok results. You can get enough speed to hit it soft and high. All stiff using the leading edge is inconsistant with not enough speed.
  8. I'd have a lot of good ones being left handed. It is hard to find what you want at the golf stores. I'd say my best is my putter. I have a Mizuno Bettinardi C-05 and love it. Payed 50 bucks shipped. I really don't see how I could like it any more. Other mentionables are my Titleist 775CBs I got for 220 shipped in good condition, and my 5 and 7 wood G5 pings. I had the 3 so it wasn't totally blind.
  9. I had an issue when I used a push cart with the legs opening up. If I was going to use my push cart I'd get a lightwieght cart bag. It is nice having the 14 way divider and extra pockets.
  10. Merry Christmas all!!! Workouts. Thursday. I did a bunch of millitary presses. Maybe 6 sets. Then did back to back to back things on the cables. All kinds of stuff. Pull downs using the back, tri extensions, rotating stuff using the core, rotating using the back of the shoulder, curls. Shoulder started barking this week so I'm going to back off my lifting starting my new year. Then did a run on Saturday. Short, maybe 2 or 3 miles. Had milk and cereal before. DO not eat dairy before excercise. I felt terrible. Then Sunday did a 1.5 mile run just to get out and enjoy the weather.
  11. I think they are very useful in learning how far I actually hit the ball, particularly wedges. If I see a 150 stick and I'm 10 yards back, that is good enough for my skill level. But when I get into my strength I can dial it in. Then if I hit a really quality shot I know that is what a 78 yards wedge shot felt like in those particular conditions. Outside of 140, I'm just trying to get around the green. And fourputt, every local event I've looked at all let you use a range finder. I haven't seen one that it was banned that I could ever dream of playing in.
  12. joined the tour
  13. Lifted last night. Did chest and Tris. Then tons of streches and ab stuff. I've got some shoulder problems so I can't do much with my chest. I do flat bench with my elbows really close to my body, close grip DB flat bench, decline, and then a whole bunch of tri stuff. Overall, I'm happy with my strength gains in the past two months. I can see and feel the changes.
  14. I like him alot. I like the way he conducts himself and shows others respect on the field. I remember watching a game and another player got hurt on the opposing team. They had to bring out the cart and all that. He clapped with the fans as the other player was being carted off. I think he is a great role model for our children. But in terms of skill, he is pretty freaky combo. To be built like a RB and be able to throw at all is impressive. I want to see what happens when he works with Elway in the off season and gets some better targets. They need a really good recieving TE and a WR that can beat a team over the top. I personally think he is going to win a superbowl. Not because he is so great, but rather just a winner.
  15. For me its a combination of power, length of backswing, open face. You have to be really confident and good with a wedge to be able to open the face and hit a good shot consistantly. I've practiced my wedges for years and feel confortable doing that. I rarely try to hit a wedge really hard. It seems to go just as far at 80%
  16. Is this a real question? Are you winning your club championship and everything you play in? Focus on school.
  17. Did spinning class and a little heavy lifting today. Did 4 excercises for my back. Two variations of pull downs, bent over dumb bell rows, and flys. Time was limited becuase of spinning class. Got a good workout.
  18. Unreadable by others. I only scrible down things in meetings at work or when I'm taking notes on something while I'm on the phone. Great choice in education Jamo. We need more engineers. A great profession if you have the mind for it.
  19. Ran 6 miles yesterday in 1:15 with the dog so that included the stops and short walk to through his poop in the trash can. I'm not jogging with sh$t in my hand. Stretched before and after. I'm getting some achelles tendinitous I think. Both are sore and ache a little. Kind of sucks but being so heavy right now can't be good for them. But anyway, going to sign up in a marathon in May to do something different so going to quit lifting heavy and drinking. Hopefully my tendons feel better. I'm stretching like crazy but just going to work through it until it becomes painful. I wouldn't descibe it as pain, just annoying.
  20. If the ground is frozen I don't like to play. I played today and it was 43-45 and I was fine. But it is much different than real rounds. This time of year I am just practicing. Dressing well is the key to being able to swing and not being cold. Wind really doesn't feel very nice under 50.
  21. The difference in winners and losers is so small at that high of a level as someone else indicated. But those small differences add up to a few shots a round. I don't believe that scatch golfers hit the ball as well or as consistantly as the PGA tour pros. Then if they are off a little, they can hack it around for a 72. A bad round for a good scratch player is 76-77. A bad one for a pro on a hard course is 74. They aren't the same animal.
  22. Worked out Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Monday. Legs. Did a lung variation on the smith machine, 4 sets, standard squats 7 sets of 6, Deadlifts, 5 sets of 6, calf raises 4 sets of 12. then lots of little stretches and ab stuff. Tuesday. Chest and Back flat bench, 6 sets of 6, close grip pull downs, one arm bent over rows, wide grip pull downs, close grip dumb bell presses, Then did a spinning class for 45 minutes. stretched Wednesday: Arms and shoulders. 3 or 4 variations of curls, tri extensions couple varieties, dips, front raises, military presses. Overall great week. Now going to drink too much and stay fat.
  23. Reverse overlap. Thumbs straight down the shaft. My left thumb may point a bit towards the target. Club is in the palm of both hands. It seems pretty standard.
  24. I think it is kind of stupid. So unless you played on either the PGA tour or Nationwide you have no shot at making the big show? I also don't like that the top 25 don't get automatically in from the nationwide tour. They obviously played well all year. It has to be draining on them to play 30 events then have to perform well in these 3 or there out. They aren't flying around on private jets have tricks at every stop. I can't imagine life on the nationwide tour being glamorous. I think they earned there break before they step on the big stage. I like Q school.
  25. Thanks for that. I haven't done the test in a long time so I will do both the Pelz and this. This doesn't seem easy and I like how it punishes bad shots.
