So all the press is in the fan stands snapping photos? And not in better photo taking positions around the players? Are you ••••ing serious? Man the idiocy on the internet amazes me. Hell they SAW me take my camera in and said nothing. So how is the press, you know the guys shuffling around non-stop which the players complain about, less distracting and thus in the right, than a person attending being much more discrete and respectful when taking photos? I've never seen a fan stand 10 feet from a player staring them down with a gigantic camera, constantly moving, but hey the guy with the small pocket camera outside the ropes standing/sitting still is going to really get in the way, huh? Right, no one should take their cell phone, just in case an emergency happens or something comes up? What are you, stuck in the dark ages? Do you even have one or know what one is? This is 2009(yay! you know, the information age!), even the players carry their phones. Jesus, quit being an idiot. Talking on a phone, in a concession area, no where near players, where it's already loud from people chatting, is distracting in what way? Explain that one to me, champ. Boy, these really are some selfish photo's I took, huh? O noes I snapped photos of Snoopy One and a photo of the final group approaching the 18th green! How selfish and distracting of me. Nbukrey, Seriously, just go have fun. If they didn't have these rules, then it's rather obvious that people would feel inclined to talk or take photos whenever they wanted, regardless of how untactful or distracting it may be, because it wouldn't be against the rules.

I didn't have any issues when I brought my phone and camera to the Saint Jude Classic, which was my first event. Don't worry, they aren't going to pat you down or the likes. These guys have cameras follow them around all the time and are used to the photo ops. Have you ever seen the clips where Tiger attempts a putt for the win? It looks like a lightning storm, so obviously folks are toting cameras. As long as you aren't trying to snap pics as they tee off or putt, you should be okay. I was discrete whenever I took photos, usually snapping them as they were walking down the course and never when they were by their ball. As for the phone, again just use common sense. Obviously you don't want to start talking/texting at a tee box or putting green. If I needed to make a phone call, I did it a good distance away from any of the golfers. If anything, I'd say people shuffling around the putting greens is one of the biggest distractions. So don't sweat it, just use common sense and enjoy yourself.

I'd love to be able to party as hard as JD did all those years and still turn in a half ass'd round of 88, especially on tour If anything he just needs to buckle down and not squander the talent he's been given.

Here you go ace : Sounds to me like she was most likely going to go to the party regardless whether the OP showed up. You know, the whole "really wanting to go to the party" thing. It's highly unlikely she'd opt to sit at home, alone, when she could go to a party with her brother, even if she didn't know anyone(she's a hooters waitress, interacting with strangers is no biggy). Are you that naive(you probably are) that you didn't pick up on the fact that the OP wanted to get in her panties? Again, I'll assist you since you're obviously too dumb to figure it out yourself: Please, just quit. You obviously missed the whole intent of the of this thread, again I'll sum it up for you since you aren't able to : "Would you abandon the best round you've ever had in an attempt to try get into a smoking hot girl's panties?" You probably didn't even pick up on the title of this thread : " What would you have done....girl or golf?? " That alone is an innuendo that implies hooking up with a girl. The only way you could miss all these clues is if you're a complete moron. So, would I bail on my best round ever to try and get laid? Hell no. Beautiful women are a dime a dozen - they come and go.

And I feel sorry for anyone that has to deal with your epic idiocy. Did you even read his post? He basically left to meet her at a party for the possibility of "hooking up". That's some commitment, champ. Talk about fail. Good lord did you really compare a round of golf with a friend to meeting a random girl at a party for the possibility of getting some strange as a "commitment" Since you're obviously a moron and didn't read the first post, I'll post his story here : The OP was committed to nothing. His friend's hot out-of-town sister was going to be at a party he was going to. He wanted to nail her, so he went to said party to open the door on the possibility of shagging her. He ended up nailing her, mission accomplished. I'm not sure why you and others are having difficulty comprehending those simple facts. He didn't even talk to her before running into her at the party. He was obviously just interested in nailing her, how can you consider that a commitment, a date, or let alone gentleman like? Those black dots really blow your mind, don't they?

Finish the round. The power ••••• holds over some guys blows my mind. Golf is supposedly a gentleman's sport, but these days obviously not so much.

Wait, she beat you with 170-180 yard drives?

I'd say it's borderline foolish to keep playing with heat exhaustion symptoms, you know, the signs that occur before a heat stroke. The only thing that kept you from falling over was the amount of water you were putting through your body. I also agree that the "daze"(I've been there and know how you felt) you were in probably allowed your muscles to be less tense, allowing for a smoother stroke. I'm glad you kicked ass out there but remember, it's not worth the risk - one heat stroke can cripple you for life. I'd also avoid playing on days with high humidity indexes.

Gotta love the awful waffle. Nothing tops my night off better than heading from the bars down to the awful waffle and sleeping the calories off. Good move, Phil

Help with my swing (video and stills)
cmvash replied to jonnythan's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
A drill I do whenever I find myself swinging with too much arms(as you appear) is to stand with my feet together and do some practice swinging. This forces me to use more rotation with my body(mostly hips) and less forced movement with the arms(which tends to cause over the top movements). And yes, it is possible to stand with your feet together and stay in balance. You have a good tempo. Once you start swinging more with your body and less with your arms I think you'll knock your handicap down quite a bit. -
I just watched some of the 2nd round today on my plasma in the living room(vs the HD protection set in my bed room I watched the 1st round on). Holy hell what a difference. It almost gave me a headache on the plasma due to the washed out and grainy look. This makes me sad. Going to stick to my projection set as it looks much better.
-
It looks nothing like standard on my set as you originally said it was. You know what I'm talking about, that washed out blurry look or the lame boxed image, which is what I thought you were referring to. So since it is upconverted(like most broadcasting) it looks 'high' enough for me. It also looks pretty kick ass to me(despite being a links course) so there'll be no arguing that! If I can make out the Nike swoosh and what not on the golf balls, I'm content. But as you pointed out, they're terrible at tracking over there. Watching all 8 hours until 4am while drinking probably made the picture kick even more ass for myself

Not sure who your provider is(Cox for me), but according to my tv set and cable box it's in hd. I can tell without a doubt that it's not standard. Looks exactly like all the other HD tournaments I've watched on the golf channel HD and CBS HD. Who's your cable/dish provider? On a side note, I was disappointed with the crowd turn out for the first round. It looked pretty slim from the coverage I saw.

bret - need help with my slicing please help
cmvash replied to bart44's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
To be brutally honest, you need a lot more help than a message board can provide. When I saw the video it looked like a noodle swinging a club. But hey we all start somewhere. While RC nailed home some pretty good points, you need to seek some lessons or at the very least, pick up some instructive books. Even your initial set up looks pretty bad - your stance is narrower than it should be. Second, you've got way too much lower body movement. Your swing starts from the ground up. You need resistance to 'uncoil' and create club speed with the turning motion of your body, not with your arms. Try sticking a beachball between your legs and holding it there while you swing with your @ss up against something(like the wall of the deck in the video). You should feel like your pivoting the weight from your left foot to the right when unwinding. You're bending your right arm way too much as well. Your right arm should be flat with very little bend. At the top of your swing your arms should be parallel to your shoulders and the club head should be no more than parallel with the ground. Try to keep your right bicep as close to your body as possible when making your swing. -
You nailed it.

To each their own I suppose. I guess if you have the money and can afford it, why not? However, guys that pay for this are probably the same guys that buy random girls drinks at the bars expecting it to go some where.

$345 Dollar Foot Joys- anyone one try them?
cmvash replied to InTheTwenties's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
In the game of golf, there's no such thing as "over-priced" equipment. -
My golf "buddy", or I should say the only person I know who likes to golf, drives me insane most of the time. He likes to stand behind me on every shot, literally. The worst is off the tee box. Now if I was teeing off on national television, I'd be okay with someone behind me, but not him during our casual golf rounds. It's so bad that if we hit vastly different tee shots, he'll hit his 2nd shot then rush over in the cart and park right behind me as I'm about to hit my 2nd. I've called him out on this multiple times but he just doesn't listen. To add insult to injury, he tries to give me swing tips after he's hit a few decent shots, never minding the 4 balls he just hit off the tee just to get one decent drive. It's especially frustrating after having a poor tee shot he'll say stuff like "Are you getting mad or something?". I attribute my handicap index vastly to him. I've noticed whenever I go without him, I tend to play better.

Practice Golf Balls
cmvash replied to bogeyhitter25's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I have both the Callaway foam balls and the Birdieballs. The foam balls will fly away if you take a normal swing and are sensitive to wind, but I use them to practice mid-short range chipping. The birdieballs give pretty good feedback with regards to hooking and fading, and make a cool sound when you hit'em square. The go about 30-40 yards. -
The standard FT-iQ is 1* closed(draw) while the tour version is .5* open(neutral).

Gotta agree with everyone else. Your 8 iron is toast. It'll never hit the same again and is likely to break now. I'm sure you realize it now, but you deserve to be out of pocket for a new club due to your actions. The only thing you should be upset with is yourself - the club didn't put the ball in the water, you did.
