  1. Yeah, Im also way behind the curve here with my wire brush...crap. Great find zeg.
  2. I like to stretch first. Then hit the putting green for ten or 15 minutes. After that it's to the range for 30 or 40 balls with PW, 7i, 5i, and a few woods. Hit the last 3 or 4 with driver and get on the 1st tee.
  3. You're playing just right. You're managing the course properly. Tell your buddy that he's an idiot, and never let him create doubt in your mind. I can tell you have very solid confidence in what you do. High self confidence is way more manly than going for it outside of your comfortable range. In fact, going for it outside of your skill and confidence level is the more childish thing.
  4. It definitely affects me. It's a huge difference. I might as well be slap drunk on the course if I'm going to go out there without being rested. Sleep and hydration-nothing will wreck concentration and confidence worse than not having those two things.
  5. You're standing on the wrong side of the ball! Switch over to the other side and that fade becomes a draw. Yeah...lefty humor...I don't like it either. Seriously, it sounds like you're on the right track. I constantly tell myself that swing changes take several rollercoaster weeks to get down. Persoannly, I embrace the fade. So many people I get paired with complain about how most courses are set up for a righty draw and how they hate their lives because they can't do it. I just smile and nod and stick it on the left side of the fairway.
  6. I played a dozen ix's. I find them quite durable. I have yet to take one out of play because it was scuffed or shredded. Very happy about that. Now if they could float...I'd never buy golf balls ever again.
  7. Exactly...I grew up on a farm and we had the foam for our gigantic boom sprayers. It saved a lot of money and time. I chuckled a little at the memories the first time I saw it on a green.
  8. My biggest takeaway from that video is that his backswing keeps going back after he turns his hips forward. Do that and you have no choice but to have acceleration and an inside to out swing path. You can't even help it! ...It also makes a duck hook a non issue.
  9. Not if you grew up and went to college in the south!
  10. Where the heck do y'all play golf? I've never had reservations about my bag being out of my sight except for once at a scramble that had attracted some weird folks. I also don't leave my bag at the drop. I'll walk the 30 yards from the parking lot with my bag. Not sure how I would feel about leaving my bag in storage at the club unless there was very strict accountability.
  11. Take a week off. This happens to athletes all the time. Particularly runners, but anybody who trains with their bodies. I think you might be doing something equivalent to "overtraining." So take some time off before you go completely Charles Barkley on the course.
  12. Dear "That Golfer" - Don't give me crap about shooting a 91 to your 88. We both know that you didn't shoot an 88. It was actually more like a 108. I honestly don't care how you score your round, but if you don't score it objectively don't expect me to be happy for you.
  13. Does the current generation of Taylormade TP Reds have "TP Red" or "TP Red LDP" stamped on the side? I found one on the course, and I just want to know if it's the current generation or the one prior before I judge it next time out. Thanks gents.

    Tom Watson

That last putt shows how completely nerve burning this game gets! What the heck was he thinking!? I knew it would be a tough one, but it looked like he didn't try!
  15. I'm surprised Rotella's Putting Out of Your Mind hasn't made the list. The thread for it in the reading room is glowing. Big thumbs up to this thread.
  16. Good stuff, man. I walked into a friend's house and his wife was using all of these crystal trophies as decorations. I immediately knew that I needed some of my own. I need to get into a better flight though to get the nice trophies.
  17. Those guys look like they're swinging driver or something else really long. The drill calls for using a 7 iron. The backswing plane for a 7 iron is way more erect than for driver. The drill makes perfect sense to me, and I think I will try it. I can wash out a slice with a strong grip, but I still hit it straight left of the target a lot and have power issues. I think this drill can fix both for me. Thanks...rep.
  18. ...when the only reason you mow the back yard is so you can practice chipping from better lies. ...when every pair of shorts you own has a little black mark on the front where the butt of the club routinely hits. ...when your shirts have a worn spot on one shoulder where your chin brushes it. (I'm still not this bad) ...when you log on to a golf forum every day. (guilty)
  19. I'm glad we're all in the same boat! It's all about communication. (Isn't all of marriage about communication?) I have never gotten true anger about my habits, just grief and flak. I know where the line is though. I do a lot of stinking work for our family and we still spend some pretty serious quality time together so I think we both know where each other stands. My priorities are also straight. BTW...biggest mistake you can make is asking to go play golf. BIG mistake. and for the record, I've played 6 or 7 times a month for the past 5 months and I go to the green and range often.
  20. Any time I think about equipment my mind immediately goes to Taylormade. I hate that because I know there is so much good stuff out there. I think I go out of my way not to be brand loyal. r7 irons could be the best irons on the planet for me, and I probably wouldn't get them because I don't want to be percieved as having an all TM bag simply because it's TM. I do have my driver because it's TM, but I really did buy my putter simply because it was the best for me. I may be loyal to Mizuno irons and TM drivers forever, but not to a single brand for all products.
  21. That is off the wall! The first thing that comes to mind is eco-terrorists and fortunately most of them don't have a beef with golf courses except for maybe nitrogenous runoff. I'd say it's more likely that all the gas-hawg Cadillacs in the parking lots would be vandalized than the course.
  22. Yes...Absolutely use used golf balls. I use premium used balls constantly from usedgolfballs.com. Except for some course and hotel stamps you can't tell the AAA are used. As for distance, it's probably true that they eventually lose something. It's debatable whether it's the water or the water temp that causes this. Just buy a late model ball...That way you know it didn't spend a year or two under water. I hate buying a new box of golf balls. $25 to $50 and it's so anticlimactic. BTW...Don't buy the $5 Nitro Blaster balls from Wal-Mart. Just...don't.
  23. I saw it on the commercial and looked it up. It looks like it only gives distances to the front, center, and rear of the green. That is fine and dandy, but it would be a lot better to also get distances to hazards. I'm starting to jones for an iphone even though we're with Verizon. They have some proven gps golf apps on there, and that would reduce my Christmas list by one very expensive item.
  24. Always a hat, marker/divot tool stuck over left temple, pencil and tee over right temple, never have sunglasses (can you say jacked up depth perception?). My bag has to go right behind me about 4 feet back, but that has to do with my preshot routine more than anything. Nothing weird.
  25. Mizuno...You get arguably the best selection and quality of irons. If you don't like the woods (which are coming around apparently) you just put Mizuno headcovers on them. You're not forced to play their ball because they don't make one so you can use whatever ball you want. I would also try to get the Marine Corps to sponsor me. If they'll drop several mil on a race car they should be okay with dropping 5 figures a year on a golfer.
