Wow...those look great! Especially from the side!

Tiger...I've rooted against him ever since he turned pro, got paid by Nike and got shoved down our marketing throats. I really enjoyed last year when he wasn't playing.

Wow, I had the opposite reaction to the R9's. I didn't like the way they felt at all and I didn't like the looks. I liked the MX200's but I wasn't consistent enough with them for them to make my short list. I hit the MX100's better. When hit correctly, the 200's felt great. I hit the GC7s and thought they were a good solid offering. I ended up buying G15's and I couldn't be happier.

Good topic guys. I play lots of sports and used to have serious issues with swamp ass and chafing in my nether region. Especially during volleyball tournaments. Lots of talk on here about compression shorts and a few mentioning briefs. Under Armour Boxer Briefs solved the issue for me. I don't care for the actual compression shorts but the boxer briefs are light, comfortable and great at wicking away moisture. Plus, for running they are long enough to prevent a bit of chafing I get on my upper/inner thigh (especially at the beach where a sandpaper effect comes into play).

This is by far the best post on this thread. Many years ago I had one. I was actually more comfortable using my 7-iron so I gave it to a friend of mine. He still uses it. Good for him, it's what he's comfortable with. I guess that makes him an old man, a hack, lazy, etc. etc. Whatever. Great post packerfan1.

I was really happy for Carling. She really hit some great putts to win. I was really bummed when Lilli made the finals but watching Carling win made it worth it. Love the spunk and the victory dances.

One thing I like about P90X is that I can do it at home. I spend some $$ on dumbbells but it's a good tradeoff for me since most of the time when I'm working out it's 10pm after I get my kids to bed. I was always one to go to the gym to workout but you are right that there are lots of people in a gym who are most there to socialize.

LOL, I knew that was coming (or an IPad reference). Well played shades.

Two weeks ago on the 18th hole I took a 9 on a par 5. I scored a 92. I feel your pain. I was pretty upset with myself. Had to take a drop in wet rough and couldn't chip out of it. I shoot in the 80's occasionally, usually in the low/mid 90's. The rounds where I shoot in the 80's are rare enough for me to appreciate them (and hate it when I let one slip away).

Can't take a website to the men's room, of course.

I agree with what you are saying. I think each individual has to find what works for them. For me , regimented workouts tend to work. Right now, it's P90X. Before that I did Body For Life and there are times when I've designed and planned my own workout, created plans with friends, etc. Some folks don't need all the regimented, planned out workouts. I have a good friend that is always in great shape, works out all the time, etc. He never has a plan, just works what he feels like when he feels like it. He knows what he's doing in the gym (and with all the cardio he does), he just doesn't plan or record it. That works for him, not for me. To bring the discussion back to the OP's question. Notice that several of us have mentioned Yoga being good for golf. It really is (and it can be good for your back as well). I really hate doing the yoga in P90X but I'm going to do it because I know I need it.
-
I thought P90X helped my golf in two ways. I had less body fat to get in the way (went from 167lbs to 150) and because of the core work and yoga I just felt like I could make a turn better. I have lower back issues and my lower back got much better (which also helped with flexibility). Basically I just felt more free and smooth when swinging a softball bat of golf club. I didn't state it because P90X is all consuming but I would recommend it as well as a good workout/lifestyle for golf.
-
If I were working out strictly for golf I'd would concentrate on strengthening my core and adding flexibility. Inclusive with 'core' would be abs, btw. Earlier this year I went through a round of P90X. Loved the core workout and the ab workout. I hated the yoga workout but I bet that yoga workout did more good for me (I'm not real flexible) than the others. I felt that those 3 workouts were really helpful for golf (and softball). In my next round of P90X, I hope to miss that yoga workout less often (even though I hated it).

There is so much junk going around about Favre and so much of it is just BS. Don't buy into the media (ESPN, in particular) hype. Farve finished the season, told the Vikings he'd see how he felt and let them know if he was going to play. They said that was fine. He had his ankle surgery, started working out with the high school kids he works out with and is doing exactly what he told the Viking's he'd do (and that they OK'd). He'd let them know when he knows. In the mean time Sage threw for 300+ yards last week letting everyone know that the team will be just fine either way. Of course they'll be better than Farve. Yesterday 3 of Brett's teammates flew down to see him. No need for all the media hype. These are veteran players who have played with him before and want their best shot at a ring so they gave it a shot. That's cool. The ridiculous media coverage of Farve getting on a plane and of him helping coach kids, isn't Brett's doing. He just went to the airport and caught a ride to Minn. ESPN shouldn't be showing coverage of him getting on and off the plane and all that, it's pitiful and it's their hype not his. I hope he comes back to play and kicks butt and has fun doing it.

I agree that Sara and Carling yell 'sit' a lot and it's a bit annoying. I wonder how annoying most of us would be if we were on camera. There are probably things that we do and don't even realize that would be painfully obvious on camera Of course, if they had me playing golf on camera, they would have to bleep out half of what I said and a mute button would be needed for a short time after a really bad shot. Go Carling!

Really sad to see Lili make it to the finals. I DVR'd the show and was watching it delayed tonight. Best way to watch is to hit the mute button every time Lili speaks. I've done that 2 weeks in a row and the show is much better that way. I don't mean to be negative, there are just so many women on the show I liked more including Sara and Carling and I'm bummed to see more of Lili. I love that Carling drives all the girls nuts, especially when the others are feeling bitchy. As for Sara, wow, just wow was she hot tonight. Let's hope Carling can pull it out next week. With only 2 left, the mute button will really have to be put in use (note the FF button works well with Lili as well).

Sun mountain Micro cart
elvis14 replied to Valleygolfer's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Same here. Joined a league that was playing Wednesday nights and wanted to talk every week so I bought a cart. It's since paid for itself. It works great, folds quickly, is amazingly stable. FWIW, I don't think you can wrong with the SM or the Clicgreat 3 wheeled carts. -
A couple of thoughts on this: 1) Yes, DJ technically made a mistake 2) The application of the rule in this case made a mockery of the tournament 3) If you put a sign on a Bengal tiger that says "kitty cat", it's still a tiger and not a house cat. If you put a sign on a waste area that says "bunker"..... 4) To make matters worse, the winner acted as though he had just won $2 on a scratch off when he won 5) I would hope that the PGA would either not play there again or do what they did the last time the tournament was played there and played bunkers as bunkers and waste areas as waste areas I'm bummed mostly to enjoy watching the tournament all weekend to have it basically all screwed up at the end.

I hit my hybrids longer than my irons so for me my hybrids replaced my woods moreso than my irons.
-
I don't know who's telling you that junk but what you need depends on your game. I don't currently carry and woods, just a driver and hybrids. There are rounds where a 3 wood on a par 5 would be helpful. But I'm not getting there in 2 with a 3 wood which is only about 25 yards longer than my 19* hybrid anyway so the risk/reward isn't there for me. If I were a better player, I might replace that hybrid with a 3 or 4 wood.
-
Sorry about that, I was at the range hitting the 3 wood that day (yes, I'm kidding most of my drives are about 225 with my driver )

If you look at the last 2 digits in my username you can probably guess what I think of Jim Gray (Pete wore #14). I always wear 14 when I play sports. Started when I was young because I play sports the way Pete played baseball (play hard, hustle, etc.). Off the playing field, Pete has been an embarrassment. As for Pavin/Gray, even if Gray was originally correct, his behavior as made him unbelievable. Who's going down now? Wasn't he also the tool that was involved in that deplorable LeBron James debacle called "The Decision"?

I've been hit once and it ended up being a big mess. I was playing with 3 friends (one who was a woman). On the 12th hole a 2 some shows up behind us and one of the guys who is a big boy and a big hitter tees off and rolls it up to the feet of my friend. She really didn't notice but I wasn't too happy about it. I didn't say or do anything, people make mistakes. We were making pretty good time for a 4-some as my friend who was with us didn't play too much on the back nine. She's a decent golfer but she was mostly there to play a little and hang out with us. On the 16th hole I chip onto the green and I'm walking back across the fairway when a ball 1 hops and hits me. I'm OK and a buddy of mine is worried that I'll get mad says "I'll talk to them when they roll up". I figure that's a good idea, cooler heads and all that (even tough I wasn't all that hot, more annoyed). So this 2 some rolls up and my friend calmly says "hey guys, your drive hit my buddy". The guys response was to get out of his cart and say "well you guys have been holding us up all day" (note, they showed up behind us on the 12th and this is the 16th hole). My friends response was "well you don't have to be d*ick about it". Things went down hill from there and I headed down there when they were chest to chest. There was some pushing then this jackazz tries this awkward, clumsy spinning back kick. My friend easily steps back away from it and shows and amazing amount of restraint by not hitting the guy (because he could have easily stepped into this off balance idiot and hammered him) and we almost started laughing at this point. Our forth, who is a very large biker type, walks up and physically separates the two and tells them to knock it off. Probably a good thing because I was pretty upset and although my friend had showed great restraint if the guy would have kept pushing he would have put him down. Meanwhile, my friend who was a woman was on the green wondering why she bothered playing with 'boys' and the poor guy that was riding with the jerk never got out of his cart, looked pretty classy and was EXTREMELY embarrassed. I was impressed with my buddy for not taking a swing at this guy (I'll admit that had he pushed, slapped and kicked at me I would have hit him many times). He on the other hand was very upset with himself that he had let things get as far as they did. I don't tell this story with him around, it still upsets him greatly even though it's been 3 years. He's a great guy, has a lot of class and intervened to keep me from getting into it. After we finished on the green, we called back and told the guy that we were calling the sheriff's dept and that we would meet them at the clubhouse (we lied, and no intention of making any calls). As we were on the tee box for 17 they drove by without saying a word and left the course. I was happy because we all just wanted to put it behind us. If I ever hit someone the first thing out of my mouth would be "I'm very sorry" and "Are you OK?". Last time I came close to hitting some guys (I sliced a drive, didn't realize how far right it went and it hit something on the tee box near some guys). I drove over, and apologized several times. They were nice and tried to tell me where my ball was. I didn't even go look for it just told them that I didn't come to find my ball just to apologize. My friends just let me take a drop (with a stroke) in our fairway and play on. I was very relieved that I didn't hit anyone and was mortified that I came that close without yelling 'fore' (I didn't think it was going that close).
