  1. +1 I recently bought a Clicgear 2.0 at D-sports at that price point as well. It's a great cart, I've used it enough to know I'd buy it again.
  2. When I was first starting to play, I bought a lot of stuff from Ebay, used bins at shops, etc. I didn't want to waste my money buying the wrong new clubs. As I've played more golf and learned enough to know what to buy, I've started buying new clubs. With my driver, I paid full price a few years ago when TM was offering a free hybrid with the driver purchase. Best decision I ever made as my R7 460 and 25* TM Rescue Dual have been my favorite clubs since. Recently, I finally got fitted and bought new irons and wedges. It's nice to play with irons that fit (I'm not built for off the rack). I'd buy a wood or driver used and online if they didn't need to be fit but I'd try to find one locally to hit first.
  3. Buy the G15's they are great. I like them better than the G10's so it was worth the money for me, easily. They are very forgiving and make very solid contact. Won't make your golf swing better but it sure is fun to play with clubs that are this good and this forgiving.
  4. I hope that works out great. Post back on this thread and let us know
  5. The Gap/UW in the g15 is 50*. I got my G15's Monday. I've played 3 times this week. They really are great clubs, very forgiving and very solid. I bought 5-PW then I bought 48*, 52* and 56* Vokey's to go with them. I also hit hybrids instead of my 3 and 4 irons. I couldn't justify the cost of Raptures over the G15 because the G15's always felt just right to me. I hit them at demo days and indoors a bunch of times before buying.
  6. I don't know that I could come up with better predictions than what you have. If King James doesn't resign with the Cavs, it'll shake things up greatly, however. I'm really enjoying the theater in all of this (more so than in years past). I do think it would be pretty cool if DWade and LeBron changed teams just to make next season even more interesting.
  7. I'm right down there with you Brandon: 5'7" and 152lbs (thanks P90X)
  8. I played Lonnie Poole Tuesday morning with my brother in laws. It was my first time playing LP. I found the service to be great. The kids working there were really nice and helpful. The course is challenging, the greens are pretty fast and not flat and some of the views are amazing. As someone else mentioned, the course plays long and it requires some course management skills. If I could have hit a few putts, I would have had a decent score (for me). We really enjoyed ourselves (even if we didn't play very well) and hope to make it back to play again. Both of my playing partners wore khaki shorts and red shirts and looked like the staff. I found that humorous. Also, note that if you pull your approach shot left and hit the cart path on 18, your ball can bounce into the parking lot and go hundreds of yards away (don't ask how I know that). I haven't played Duke's course or Finley since it's been renovated so I can't compare LP to those but I will say that when in doubt, you should avoid being around that nauseating light blue color (9F)
  9. The G15 UW is 50* so adding that to a 54 and 58* Vokey will probably work out pretty well. I'm hoping that I can hit the G15 5 iron well enough to get one of my hybrids out of my bag (I have 3,4 and 5 hybrids right now) so I can make room for a 3 or 4 wood (probably G15). I stuck with the stock AWT shafts. With some of the other heads (AP1's for instance) the fitter had me hit with different shafts. We came to the realization that in my case that I'm just not consistant enough yet to worry about the upgraded shafts. We did hit with both regular and stiff AWT's to get the flex right (and we used a Mizuno shaft optimizer). We just didn't think it would be worth it for me to pay for the upgrade at this time. A couple of months from now, I'll probably know if that was the right decision . Look forward to reading others opinions on the shafts.
  10. I just bought G15 irons, 5-PW and Vokey Wedges (48, 52, 56). I hit the G15's a bunch of times before buying (as well as just about every other GI iron). Played my first round with them today. I think the G15's are amazing. They are very forgiving and have a very solid feel to them. I've hit the G5 and G10 as well. Liked them but I like the G15's better. I don't agree that they are essentially the same club, especially when comparing the G5's with the G15's (which I've done multiple times). The G15's have different weighting than the G5. They are very similar but they do feel different to me. Obviously, I think the G15's and Vokey's are a good combo since I just bought them. I'd buy the G15's that you want but stick with your wedges. Remember that you can always go back and order the G15 wedges if you feel that they would fit your game better after you've played a few rounds. I know my biggest fear in ordering was trying to match the irons and wedges. The G15 PW has 45* of loft so I ended up buying a 48* Vokey. Hope you find something that fits you well.
  11. I hit the X-22 and the X-24 before buying the Ping G15's. The X-22 was on my short list but I liked the the X-24's better. Don't know why but I hit them better (and I was hitting the 22 and 24 5 balls at a time going back and forth). I love the look of the X-24 as well, gorgeous clubs both in print and even more so in person. But I just hit the G15's better and they felt better to me. The G-15's just fit me better more or less. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the 3. Note, I also really liked the Mizuno MX-100's, the Ping G-10's and the Titlest AP1's.
  12. Another vote for the G15 irons. Mine arrived yesterday and I played my first round with them today. Wow, are they great. I just love the way the ball feels off the face of the club (solid). Give them a good look before you buy anything else. I shopped irons for many months and have hit every GI iron I could find. For me the G15's were the best choice. Hope you find yours.
  13. I would have told him that my 3 and 4 iron are in my garage . Seriously, to each his own. Personally, I hit my driver more consistantly than the other choices I have for going off the tee (it has a club face the size of my head, afterall) so it's a good choice for me . You have to balance course management with your style of play with what you have fun with. If you enjoy hitting your driver more even though it might cost you a few strokes, it might still be the club for YOU to hit. Of course 'bomb and gouge" vs. "control tee to green" has been discussed for 50 years now.
  14. I used to hit a 7 wood. For quite a few years my 7-wood was my favorite club. I took it out of my bag when I started buying hybrids. The hybrids are better out of the rough and since they have a shorter shaft I tend to hit them more consistently. I have a 25*, 22*, and 19* hybrid in my bag and my 7-wood overlapped with the 22*. I took the 3 and 4 iron out of my bag years ago. Just bought a new set of G15's (they arrived today) and I didn't even bother to buy the 3 or 4 iron.
  15. I'm currently using a TM R7 460 that I hit pretty well, it's my 3rd TM driver. If you told me to got out today and based on the sticks I've hit in the last year and buy a driver, I'd buy the G15. I've hit it a few times and it's as long as my R7 and very forgiving (lots of drivers are). What won me over, however, was the solid feel of the G15. I just love the way that things feels. I hope to pick up a used one later this year or early next. Note that in my sig, it says I have G15 irons....well they are paid for and on order, hopefully I'll have them next week.
  16. I hate to say it because I was really rooting for him and and he seems like a pretty good kid but DJ flat out choked yesterday. I hope he shakes it off and plays great going forward. Wow can he hit it a ton!
  17. I use plastic tees. I bought a small bag about 2 years ago. Still have not run out. I was tired of breaking the wood ones. Most of the time, I'll play an entire round with the same tee.
  18. As much as I hated seeing Tiger play so well yesterday, it was worth it to watch him crash and burn today. Anyone see the telling post round interviews with Tiger and then Phil? Tiger was given a "gimme question" like "what positives can you take away from today's round?". He answers negatively like a complete a-hole. Phil isn't given a gimme question because they don't need to try to protect his image and Phil talked about his struggles with the putter then talks about how great the tournament at Pebble Beach was. That's why I always want Tiger to lose right there....he's just not very likable. Phil is great and I'm always wanting him to do well. Note that I'm not saying anything negative about Tiger's game. He's unreal and will, sadly, be back on top before long. Anyone catch the pitiful dialogue on Saturday where the announcers were saying that now that Tiger's playing well it's OK to root for him again (like he's a different person because his pants are up, he's not at Denny's and he's hitting a golf ball well)? I enjoyed watching McDowell and Havert play today and I felt really bad for poor D. Johnson. That kid just lost it and never got it back.
  19. I had a similar decision to make. I bought the Vokeys. I just liked wide sole and feel. The shop I was working with them didn't have them all in stock so 2 are on order (along with my new irons). I'm really looking forward to using the Vokeys.
  20. You are right, the first 3 quarters of last night's game was not good TV. I'm much more of an NCAA hoops fan than an NBA fan. It was frustrating that last night's game was called so differently than others (inconsistant) and it's frustrating the way the NBA gives players the "Jordan treatment" (inconsistant). Have a good weekend.
  21. Good call, dhanson. After a horrible first 3 quarters (meaning it was ugly basketball) the 4th quarter was fan-tastic. I don't know why but I just can't get behind this Celtics team.
  22. When AH is on the field, he's a disruptive force but the bottom line is that he took the money and he should go to work an do what your boss tells you to do. Get in there, clog up the middle and allow the linebackers to attack. BTW, from your example, that's what me did last year! I was all for this signing and really hoped it would work out but right now, I'm pissed. If was wasn't going to show up, he shouldn't have taken the $21MILLION dollar check in April. I do totally blame AH....who cares if the coaching staff and defnese changed. Listen to what Shannahan had to say "if I put him at free safety, I expect him to be the best FS in the game".
  23. If you don't watch much NBA basketball and you tuned in to watch game 7 tonight, please do not rate the NBA by this game. It's an atypical, horrible game. The refs are trying so hard to "let them play" that they are just not calling anything. As usual, when this happens, players respond by getting more physical. This generally favors the more physical team (in this case, the Celts). It's particularly sad because the NBA has done such a good job of cleaning up the play of late (especially after the fiasco that was the finals 2 years ago). Oh well....
  24. Sadly, no. There are so many positive things happening in sports right now. The World Cup is great, the NBA is going to have a 7th game tonight, the US Open starts today, the Hockey season is over so it won't be on ESPN until next year's playoffs...all these great and positive things. So what's the first thing I hear about when I turn on SportsCenter this morning? Albert Effin Haynesworth. Thank you London Fletcher for calling him out in public and to Coach Shannahan for doing the same. With the money he's being paid, he needs to shut up and play.
  25. My last name is Pressley...lots of Elvis stuff growing up. Stopped fighting it years ago and went with it. Some friends still call me Elvis. I play a lot of sports and 14 is my jersey number (comes from Pete Rose). Thus elvis14. I've used it on internet boards for almost 20 years now. I first remember using it in the early 90's on MR2 boards (then Miata and WRX boards and various softball, golf, flag football, and Duke Basketball boards).
