You don't put much to any pressure on your thumb anyways, at least thats what is recommended.

I play wedges a bit back because I like the couple hops and checking shot. I try to limit the spin on my wedges or else they backspin too much.

Worst balls you've played?
bioman replied to ApocG10's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Condor Ti ball I found. The distance was no better than a Pro V1x, being a distance specific ball. I also thought that these balls were heavier than normal. Several times, I hit them onto semi-soft greens and they buried themselves in their own divot. Only half the ball would be sticking up from the ground. -
Yup, I use the 7 wood as a 3 iron replacement. Ideally, because of the larger head it should carry farther, which it does. But, the ball also flies a lot higher, so there is less roll. The benefit for me is that when I want to stick a green from ~230 out, I can really go at it and not worry about the ball rolling off. I've even spun Pro V1's back a good length after hitting the green. 7 wood is also just as good as a hybrid out of the rough, assuming you are not under a bunch of tree's. I'm practicing hitting it thin, so I can work on those low fliers. Another downside is if you have a good breeze or headwind, the ball will be more affected by due to the increased flight. I suggest that if you want to keep your 3 iron, then go with either a 5 wood or 17/18* hybrid , depening on which you hit bettter.

I've used a ten finger grip forever. It's the one I picked out to be the most comfortable when I was a kid. I feel like I lose a little stabilty using the Vardon or Interlocking grip, but it is easier for the hands to come apart with a ten finger. -
He probably traps the ball better during impact.

I think Callaway is one of the few company that has made a 4 and 7 wood consistently. I have a Callaway 7 wood and I can do just about anything with that club, except for low punches.

Nike One Platinum is probably the shortest premium ball ever made and the shortest I've played. -
Well heavier shafts in fairway woods are the norm. I think they promote making a better tempo swing and solid contact. And iron shafts are heavier than fairway woods. Try adding some lead tape to your driver if you want to get a heavier swing weight. It will let you feel the club head more and should help with your tempo.

What's the price on this driver? Are they available at Golfsmith now?

He did reach the green with driver-driver the first round I believe, while Tiger was putting.

Anyone know how good Mizuno F-60 woods are?

Any of y'all not carry hybrids?

I play a 3 wood and 7 wood. -
Sorry for the confusion, but yes shutter speed. High speed camera have very high shutter speeds as well, since they are meant to capture action. The typical home video camera has a shutter speed of 1/60th a second, which isn't very fast. Also, motion blur is apparent on the shaft of the club, but the rest of the image is fairly clear. I am pretty sure if you were to crank up the shutter speed higher it would look much straighter. What was the shutter speed the images were taken at?

^When will the new black MP62's be out? EDIT: I guess it's only for Europe. $400 is a great deal to the guy above. The only thing I don't like about the MP-67's is the weaker loft. I would have to bend them 1* stronger to match my older Mizuno Pro's.

Ok, I'm not sure if anyone has brought this up but 60 FPS is pretty damn slow for any fast moving or high speed objects. When you look at those swing speed camera's on television, they are shooting at 1000+ fps easily. When you can capture that many frames in one second, the transition from point a to b is more linear on the screen. When a 60 fps normal camera is shooting a swing, the movement from a to b is a big jump the one frame to the next so that will typically be some kind of blur as the image processor tries to smoothly link the two frames together.

Ok, I have a really good opportunity to buy a new set of Mp-67 for ~$550 + tax, which I think is a great price as of now. I also know that the Mp-68's are right around the corner, coming out within a few months. Should I wait for the new design or go for the deal on the 67's? I have a slight feeling that when the 68's come out, the price on the 67's will be around $500 everywhere to get rid of inventory.

Taylormade TP Red and Titleist Pro V1x. Both are great, but TP Red has a bit more distance and softer feel with a little less bite than Pro V1x. Want to try the Nike One Tour D and the Srixon Z Star X. I don't like balls that spin too much.

He used a ruler. Does it really matter? -
If you were a low single digit handicapper and took a long time off the game (at least 5+ years), then its very possible to be hitting well over a 21 handicapper when you came back. Mentally, your game is still there, but physically it's long gone. But, you do drop strokes faster than the average golfer.

Why are forged irons easier to control?
bioman replied to kleraudio's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I think blades help magnify errors in the swing which can be a great tool, regardless of handicap. -
This seems likes it very possible. It seems logical that when you try to swing up on your driver, all that is happening is that the rate of fall decreases on the clubhead and the swing just shallows out during impact. Therefore, giving us the feeling we are swinging up.

What kind of ball are you using?
