  1. Guns and golf are my two big pitfalls when it comes to spending discretionary income. Both have gotten me in dutch with the Mrs. a time or two. That said, I enjoy both, but have found golf to be a bit more convenient and easier to participate in with my friends, and with the price of ammo these days golf actually works out to be about the same price if not cheaper, certainly cheaper when you figure the amount of time you get for your $. Going to the local gun show tomorrow though, you never know what you might find.
  2. I vote funny, but I think alot of f'd up stuff is funny. Personally I think the world would be a lot better off if we all weren't so damn uptight.
  3. From what you're saying you want I'd say the Diablo Edge or perhaps the Nike Slingshot could be up your alley. Both have wide soles, a lower center of gravity/back cavity weighting. I've never used the Diablo's but I've given the Slingshot's a few swings and they feel like they get under the ball when you swing them.
  4. I'm guessing you're not a big fan of Lou Piniella either, that guy was in baseball for 40+ years and still never figured out how to form a brim on a ball cap, drove me nuts.

    GO PACK GO!!!

  6. I must say, I felt much the same way before trying my hand at DIY regripping. Glad there's sites like youtube around to help so you can see it done rather than reading about it. I did have the luxury of having my old clubs from high school that I could practice on with some cheap grips until I got the hang of it. Now I regrip my clubs once a year and do it for my friends on occasion.
  7. Thanks for the responses guys. I took the plunge. I work 2nd shift and a rotating schedule so any option of an evening hours membership would have been out of the question. Now I just hope I get my $ worth next season both in quantity and quality.
  8. Funny, I didn't learn that until this year either when I played a course that coded the greens that way.
  9. I've been golfing on and off for 25 years but have only really gotten serious about the sport for the past couple years. I'm thinking of purchasing a course membership for $950 which includes carts and range use, but I'm having a hard time committing that kind of cash without some guilt. However, I probably golfed about 50-60 times last season, (which in WI was from April to Oct.) so I'm thinking perhaps a membership would be worth the investment. What do you think? And for info, courses around here charge an average of $30-40/18 w/cart, $20-30 w/o cart.

    Cart girls?

I love how the current one they have up says 40 is too old for her to date and loves blue eyes, great arms and a tan, yet one of her fantasy dates is Johnny Depp. Hey honey, got some bad news, he's 46 years old, has brown eyes, pencil arms and the skin tone of an albino shut in, other than that though, he's perfect for you.

    Cart girls?

You mean like driving the ball blindfolded, hitting the ball off a shot glass, those kind of tricks right:)
  12. They're definitely stronger than your standard plastic tee. They don't bend like plastic tees and the only time I've had one break on the first use is if the ground is really hard.
  13. I've owned two Nike bags, a Sasquatch stand bag, which I'm currently trying to sell, and an M9, which I'm currently using. I like the layout of both bags. My only complaint of the M9 is that it slops around on the back of the golf cart even with the cart strap tightened as far as it can go. I wish it had a feature similar to the Ogio Syncro where you could stabilize the bag or perhaps like the rubberized strap bite inserts on some of the Callaway bags. Outside of that though, I have no complaints.
  14. I have a Clicgear 2.0 and just picked up a Nike M9 bag this year and it works great.
  15. I'm going to go up but I haven't decided whether I'm going to do the Wednesday practice round or Thursday opening round. I'm leaning toward the practice round as I've never been to a PGA event and think I'd be more comfortable in a more relaxed setting.
  16. I think I play better with a small group. It's more relaxing, you can shoot the bull, bounce a shot strategy off someone, get a second opinion on a club or yardage. I know I loose way more balls when I'm by myself, which is frustrating because if I loose too many too early then I start pulling my head up to see where they go, in which case they end up going about 30 yards, usually in the wrong direction.
  17. Amen brother!
  18. It would be a close call between Romeo or Danny Noonan, after all, when I get angry and throw my club onto the outdoor patio he'll cover for me. Plus he plays by "winter rules". Then again, Romeo would get me drunk to help me forget the bad round I just had. Too close to call.
  19. I watched at least part of all 5 days worth of coverage and all of the final 2 days and I'll say this for him, he was the only guy I saw that was anywhere near consistent with the putter from day one to day five. I don't think I've seen so many closely missed putts from so many different players in one tournament.
  20. Okay, let me be the first to say, "THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!". Sorry, but someone was going to do it sooner or later, and I never get tired of seeing pictures of beautiful flat sticks.
  21. Now you'll actually have a legitimate reason to yell "Get in the hole!!!"
  22. Mine comes from the nickname my golf buddy gave me on the course, which is "The Fox". To paraphrase his rationale, my game isn't all that impressive, but I'm easy to overlook and underestimate but that I can pull out a sly shot once in awhile. He said that sometimes my game "sneaks up" on him. So anyway, when he gave me this name I had already registered on TST with my current name and didn't really want to change it because it's the same name I have on other forums. Instead, I did a google image search for "the fox" and found the heavy drinking, limerick song singing, piano playing guy that used to be on The Man Show. I figured that best fit my persona, and there you have it.
  23. I'm a guy who loves a good challenge, perhaps, like Luke Skywalker, I could bring her back from the dark side.
  24. I used to use Coke to clean my clubs with but I got tired of the 3 polar bears following me around the golf course all the time afterward.(cue rimshot)
  25. I'm looking forward to beating you for once, and as far as Hole #8, you didn't seem to have too much trouble with that one last year, me on the other hand...
