  1. That would make some sense. I know I'm already loosing some tactile sensitivity in my hands. Also gripping things often feels like I'm working with a pair of mitts at times. Didn't think to ask some of the older guys I play golf with in Yuma.
  2. How can that be if they don't say Ping on them? I did check their website and they appear to have a big following. To be honest I'd never heard of them before @iacasmentioned them. PS; also had to look up FTMFW .
  3. What other ways besides visual shot clocks littering the fairways could be used to implement this?
  4. Competitors agreeing to perform such an action is not intent - right, got it. Don't need that part. They could shot by firing squad, or made to wear pink tutu's during their next round, it has nothing to do with their intent to perform the action and gain advantage. But, yes I agree the majority avoid such action. So just how many players have been DQ'd for backstopping?
  5. The rule states that "in stroke play, if the committee determines that competitors have agreed not to lift a ball...", yeah, you're incorrect intent absolutely does comes into play here. Rules that are ambiguous and leave room for interpretation can and are exercised to their full limit.
  6. Hmm, well dang. Guess I'll have to decide just how important that Ping logo is. Looking at the Ping website, and the reviews, it would seem the ID8 are the closest to the Tour Velvet that were on the P400's. I rolled back through the forum pages and found another thread on this as well - good info. The other question I had is about grip size. I just did the Lamkin grip sizer/type ( http://www.lamkingrips.com/choosing-your-grip/find-your-size ) and it says my grip is "mid size". Looking at Ping's sizing chart, it has me in the "standard" (close to Gold, +1/32"). My current grips have white lettering (standard) and they seem to fit pretty well but since I'm close to the gold wondering if going up a size makes sense. What are the prevailing thoughts about grip sizing - favor a little larger than smaller? I know for a spell some years back, some of the folks I played with were favoring upsized grips on their drivers. I did try this at one point (persimmon days we're talking here) and honestly cannot recall whether it was helpful.
  7. My PE2's came with those spiral style rubber grips. About 10 years ago I had them re-gripped with nearly the same style. Having trialed some G400's this past winter, which had the "Tour Velvet" grips, and thinking it's about time mine get redone, I'm looking at options. I'd really like to keep the Ping logo - no, not a brand snob, just preference. The Tour Velvet certainly had a softer feel to them which felt pretty good. I don't recall whether they had a Ping logo on them or not; a quick search did not find them. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  8. The John Belushi stairway scene in Animal House just popped into my head.
  9. If that's the case, why aren't players being penalized for not marking?
  10. Oh good grief, get some perspective @Vinsk.
  11. Yes, good example. That event is likely the genesis of what we're discussing here. The WM tournament staff could change that trajectory but I don't think they want too.
  12. Incorrect. Go back and re-read #74 and #84.
  13. Interesting clip. Yet another one of golfs rules that leaves lots of questions about intent.
  14. Incorrect. I said the pace of play watching tour events in person or televised is not an issue for me. I also said I rarely have issues with speed of play out on courses. I've played rounds as fast as 3:45 to darn near 6:00. I like not ever waiting on the group ahead and having a nice continuous flow to the game but that's not reality on most public courses. As such, I choose not to make this a big issue. Umm, you're still projecting and painting with a broad brush. Everyone else is the problem but you... got it.
  15. You're failing to understand that I don't care about tour events being played faster. I enjoy watching tournament golf and the pace is fine with me. You're simply placing way to much emphasis on fast play. I've attended dozens of tour events over many years and, again, do not find the pace problematic. Well then, best hope you don't follow me on the course. With an attitude like your projecting, I wouldn't let you play through and might even slow down a bit. #speedgolfisoverrated
  16. Interesting what companies are doing to gain subscription/revenue. Speaks much to the popularity of golf, but still not motivation enough for me to create a FB account.
  17. I'm fine with that...never been one to follow the herd. A bit of a contrarian. As I stated, I support reasonable speed of play both on and off the tour. I also do not find televised tour events slow. That it's completed in 3-1/2 vs. 5 hours is of no issue to me. Sure, there are some noted exceptions that stand out (Cantlay for example), but they can easily address these without having NBA style shot clocks. Start adding some penalty strokes and they'll adjust accordingly.
  18. I've been playing the sport for over 50 years and have rarely had any issues related to slow play. I've played through groups moving slower and allowed group faster to play through. Not everyone feels like racing through a round. If that's your thing, good for you. Likewise, I've watched PGA and LPGA golf on TV over that time and, except for a few occasions, don't find the pace a problem. As I mentioned earlier, just penalize the chronic offenders. No need for shot clocks on every fairway.
  19. Paint with a broad brush much? FWIW, you're coming across as pretty arrogant.
  20. You have homework. Go back and read #30.
  21. Anyone else still playing this club? Having recently upgraded from its counterpart driver and seeing appreciable improvement in both distance and forgiveness, it has me wondering about my 3 wood. have there been advances in 3 wood design that compare with driver changes? I hit my 3 wood pretty well and can usually rely on it getting 200-220 yards, and a fairly reliable flightpath. It does have a stiff Graphalloy shaft that is probably not correct for my swing speed - not sure if that's a big deal?
  22. OK, not to derail the thread, but why is this a bad tip? Isn't the old adage "if you look up you're not going to like what you see" true? I know whenever I look up quick to peek it's usually followed by an expletive. To be honest, I've received so many tips over the years, I have no idea which one is the worst. Funny thing is that some seem to work briefly making you think you've finally figured it out.
  23. I use to buy/sell fly fishing equipment on eBay for many years, many years ago - so to be honest, I don't know of significant changes in sell fee's. I can say as the years rolled along, the whole eBay experience declined; both from the standpoint of getting skookum deals to it becoming just a retail shop. From the replies above, it sounds like they have increased and also placed burden on sellers for return policies? Why not just list your items on TST classifieds - at least to start? One issue with golf clubs, much like fishing rods, is the crazy shipping fees for irregular item dimensions. Make sure to look into that.
  24. No, I was referring to other course, not Old Works. As MT residents, up until 6/25, $54 buys us green fees, cart, practice range, and breakfast or lunch. These rates are not offered between 6/25 - 9/10. Next weeks round will cost us $65 with cart and practice range, but no grub. Still a pretty good deal compared to this caliber course at most places around the country. I didn't have much issue with the black sand and in fact hit better long iron shots from it as it's firmer. To me it kind of plays like wet/damp traditional sand traps. With all the rain from the preceding days, we were getting very little roll out. This made it play a bit longer than it would normally.
