I was there, and Paula was in major pout mode on the 8th tee. She was 5 back at that point. She did look awesome, as always, as did the two Swedes she was playing with. Cristie Kerr won it all with a nice 65, including a birdie on 18, and another birdie on the playoff hole with Alfredsson and Gustafson. The LPGA players say the greens at Columbia Edgewater in Portland are the best they play on all year. They looked very slick today. Unfortunately, the tourney is being moved to a different course next year.

The best thing I've learned: You CAN get the old putting stroke back with lots of practice. It's important to leave bad holes behind (although I don't always do it quickly enough) Playing a round is much better for your game than the driving range (OK, for me it is) I love my Mizunos

For sitting in very wet sand, the club will dig faster, so you need to play it with a square face and hit closer to the ball than usual, maybe an inch

If you don't go back and do it correctly, it is an automatic DQ in a tournament. If you don't and you're playing for money on total score, you automatically lose the bet. Play by the rules, unless it's a casual round and it's slow. Match play, automatic loss of hole.

I don't think you'd want a 1° open face unless you are a very strong player with a natural draw. I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) that the open face will counteract the hook a small amount, keeping it under better control. I think I would avoid that club and not try to tamper with it. There's too many other options that would fit you better out there already.

I bought two hats: A black tour type Callaway on the front in raised white letters with FT-5 on the side. A navy flexfit Mizuno hat with white letters. $47...

A driver is ALL about the shaft. Get fitted at a local spot that does it, or, better yet, go to a Callaway demo day and hit the exact same head with several different interchangeable shafts. Guarantee you'll notice a huge difference between shafts. Saying all that, there's no way I could make any kind of a recommendation without knowing a lot more about your swing type and speed. I'd say that just spending money to try new shafts by replacing them is money poorly spent, though. Try as many different type of shafts at local pro shops until you find a shaft you hit well. I truly believe that the driver head is secondary!!

Let's see, I usually stick 2 or 3 long wooden tees in my pocket at the beginning of a round. I use found tees or broken tees on par 3's and a couple shorter par 4's where I use a hybrid to tee with. By the end of the round, I usually have 5 or 6 long tees in my pocket.

The T and R series look VERY similar to me. I had to really inspect them to see the difference between the "teardrop" shape and the "round" shape. The T series just has more of a matching look to my irons and was more visually appealing to ME. It sounds like golfnut has some deeper info on the difference of the two wedges. They definitely have that same "buttery" Mizuno feel when you hit them well. They are both beautifully made golf clubs, and definitely a great deal for the money. Best of luck Scooter. I really doubt if you would notice much difference between the clubs if you took them out to the range side-by-side. Try the Mizuno website if you like reading up on specs (I know I spent some time there before deciding). Now, truthfully, at first glance, can you see a difference between the two models? I'm playing MP-T Model wedges, 51° and 56°. The PW is 47°, so it was a nice progression. I finally decided on them because I love the feel of my MP-60 irons, and the wedges look and feel so similar. I tried out Cleveland and Vokey wedges, but they didn't feel any better than the Mizunos. I chose the T, or Teardrop shape, because it's a more traditional wedge look. I got the chrome finish just as a mental thing so all my irons would look the same. The last two sets of wedges have been "rusties". I liked them, but decided on something different this time. I'll probably add a 60° as an option, and occasionally drop my 3 or 4 TM Rescue mid to make room.

If I were you, I'd think about a 51 or something like that.

He definitely deserves to be on the team. However, IMHO, he's making a mistake not teeing it up against the world's best (again) before the Ryder Cup.

Our men's group tee time is 6:30 on weekends, they won't let us on the course before that. Too bad, because it's light at 4:30 this time of year. They have the mowers go out at 5:30, so we're stuck for an hour. I've teed off earlier down in Phoenix in the summer. Too hot to play after 10 am.

I read an article by Ernie Els once, and he said that the only difference in his swing for a fade or draw is that he tees the ball lower for a fade and higher for a draw. Perhaps these guys were trying to hit a fade??

One foot putts, all day long!!

My brother and I were in the stands on the par 3 16th during the Open playoff, and saw Tiger toss a half-eaten apple into the bushes as he walked to the green after his tee shot. We both thought "what a jerk". Little did we know we could have sprinted across and made a fortune by picking up his garbage.

Amidst all of the usual clamor of a US Open, I witnessed one very memorable moment. On Sunday, Kevin Streelman (the first day leader) finished the 17th hole, and was headed over to the 18th tee. Where the pedestrian path was roped off to let the players across, he stopped. His caddie took off his bib and set the clubs down. An older gentleman came out of the crowd and took the clubs and bib. What was going on? Turned out it was Streelman's father, and he was going to have him caddie down the 18th on Father's Day. Very very cool.

I think today's number 16. I got a new Callaway F5 Driver, and it's literally added 15 yards to my drives overnight. I hit a really good drive on this 500 yd. par 5, about 190 out. Hit a beautiful 5 iron to about 10 feet, and made the putt!! My first eagle in a couple months. All 3 shots were just struck perfectly. I doubled the next hole....

Pebble Beach North and South. As far as I know, there's just one Pebble Beach course. Which is probably the nicest course I've played.
