So I came across a few videos of my swing towards the end of last season, and I'm sure I'll regret posting it, but it's always good to have others look. I can't necessarily say I was trying really hard with these, looking at them it seems like I was just swinging easy that day, and I apologize for the horrible quality, but I was using my families ooooold sony video camera (still used tapes haha). I also must say that since starting golf around 10 years ago, I've always played a fade/slice. I stopped playing after my senior year of high school (06) and started playing again last spring, and randomly at the end of summer I developed a draw/hook that wouldn't go away. I had taken a few lessons last summer and was actually quite happily surprised that even after 3 years of not playing I was already back to shooting low 40's which is where I was stuck in HS, but this draw/hook has totally thrown a wrench in my game :/ This one is a hybrid: This one is one of my drivers: I only have a few videos and these were likely the 2 better looking ones, unfortunately I couldn't get any side view shots because the battery died and I haven't been able to find the charger in going on 9 months haha.

I enjoyed the first season, but as someone else mentioned, it got a little on the boring side by the end since the round mound of rebound wasn't exactly getting better :P I don't like most of Rays shows but this one is fun. I also at time get put off by Haney's teaching, but guess I also remember that a lot of this is pieced together through editing, so we are really only getting probably 10% of what actually went on, like Iacas said about haney "getting" it after "4'' swings I think due to editing it may have been many more, but either way I think this season is more promising than last hahaha.

Anyone had any experience volunteering at Majors or other tournaments? I'm looking forward to working at the PGA Championship this year, but of course have no idea what I'm even doing other than being on the Marshals Special Teams "Members of the Special Teams Marshal Squad will monitor areas of the golf course outside of the 18 holes. For example, this committee's help may be needed to get the players from the 18th Green to the Clubhouse, or from the Locker Room to the Putting Green." Anyone else going to be out at Whistling Straits this year?

Can anyone explain exactly what the woodie (sp?) club separation thing works? If I get one I'd be going from a 14 holed top which I like, to what looks like one that has like 5 or 6 areas? All the pictures on the site kind of suck when I'm looking at that part in particular :/

I actually just bought a 60* on ebay and it should be coming this tuesday. I'm excited to try it out eventually because i've just been playing a cheap Niklaus 60* i bought on clearance from work that I don't think works too well, but I've also had it for 2 years and it probably got a brutal treatment lol, I take much better care of my clubs now. Either way I read good things about them and I figure 45 bucks isn't that much of a waste if I don't like it.

I'm also looking at the '10 Ogio Grom possibly since I've got a deal through work. Any opinions on the grom in general?

Banning drivers doesn't do too much unless A. there is someone there to actually do something about it/monitor the range, and B. The range would have to be visible from wherever the person is observing from. This is why even though it was a smart decision to ban drivers (and anything you could hit over 250?) at my home course, people still did it anyway. The driving range is a short walk from the club house, but its semi-guarded by a row of trees. The reason it was banned though was because there is a factory next door to the range (who called and complained) and people were purposely hitting balls over the treeline to hit cars or the building (which I'm convinced was the high school team kids, cuz they did it back when I was on the team). 250 was also the max distance before the balls started going down into a ravine full of deep brush where the range picker couldn't go :/ Moral of the story: people will use it regardless haha.

I was getting my iron set re-gripped last year and played a round with just a hybrid, 52/56 wedges and a putter, that was fun :P I played from the reds for fun and shot a 38 or 39, something I can't do from the whites/blacks with a full set :(

How much is your golf set worth?
DarkPrince replied to billysandy's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Used Cobra driver - $40 New TM Rescue TP hybrids x2 - ~$80 each New TM rac MB TP Smoke - ~$560 New TM Z TP wedges x2 - ~$35 each? Used Scotty Cameron newport midslant - $20 from a coworker (same dude as the driver) I'm thinking of putting the New Decade MC grips on everything...except I cant decide about the hybrids since they have FCT whether or not to put a grip that can't really be turned around on em. Either way probably another 100 for the grips/instalation so somewhere around $870 I don't remember what it was before shipping costs. -
For most basic things, I just buy stuff at the store I work at (MC Sports), but for other things or if I want to demo any clubs I'll check out Pro Circle Golf ( www.procirclegolf.com ) just south of the border in Spring Grove, IL (like a 45 min drive but its worth it), and anything else I look at The Golf Warehouse since I usually find some good deals on apparel and what not :) I don't have any dicks or golf galaxies near me that I care to drive to so I'm pretty limited to choices in the geneva lakes area :/

what's wrong with the reds? liverpool, that is.
DarkPrince replied to senorchipotle's topic in Sports
I swear there are 2 things I will do before I die, play pebble beach, and go to anfield and sit in the kop for a home game against man u or chelsea. I've been a fan for only a few years, but I've noticed a lot more people actually recognizing my jerseys as I walk around on campus in whitewater. Funniest part was last wednesday I was wearing my LFC track jacket and one of my professors asked to see it more closely and was like "ohhhh Liverpool Football Club!" everyone else was kinda like o.O -
Putting grips on backwards?
DarkPrince replied to chriskzoo's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Funny story, when I ordered my irons from Taylormade last year...they sent them to me with ribbed grips...with the ribbing on top (above, W/e)...and that sucked until I could afford to purchase/pay my pro to redo them with normal velvets :P -
I didn't start playing from the back tees until this last season..then again I hadn't golfed in around 3-4 years until last season lol. It certainly made some holes that were hard for me to reach before, even harder especially long par 3's where I can't decide if its light driver or hard hybrid. One of my co-workers (who says he's a scratch, but I've never seen him hit a ball) tells me that sometimes if I want to work on my game more I should mix it up some times on the tees, play reds one day, blues another, gold, white, etc... Anyone else try this?

Just talked to my Pro over at Delbrook (local muni) and he told me that unfortunately unless we get some rain in the next few weeks, or some very high temperatures, it won't be opening until late march/early april :( I might just go drive 45 minutes to Pro Circle Golf in Spring Grove, IL to hit balls out of a heated shed :P

golf galaxy vs. Golfsmith vs. sporting goods
DarkPrince replied to clearwaterms's topic in The Grill Room
For everyday stuff I prefer just buying stuff where I work which is a sporting good store. Much to the chagrin of my managers, i commonly tell people to look elsewhere for golf sets if they are willing to spend decent amounts of money, not because we carry cheap stuff (we do have X-20's, R7/R7 Draw, X-18, Sumo iron set), but because if they want to spend that much, use some of it towards a fitting session or lessons (since both can improve score more). For clubs, i just ordered my new ones through work...sort of, but I prefer going to pro-shops or golf-specific shops because of demo days and free fittings...etc. You unfortunately are pretty dead on there. Aside from the fact that one or two of my managers played/plays regularly, I'm the only other one who probably knows jack about golf where I work. It sucks though because even though I know what I'm talking about, people think I'm just pushing bad products on people because we aren't a golf galaxy. I do a lot of research, a lot of reading, watching, and playing/experimenting with stuff we have that I can tell people mostly what they need to know, yet they walk out the door with the $30 John Daly LE Square driver rather than the clearanced out Taylormade Burner that would probably help them a heck of a lot more for an extra $70. -
Delbrook Golf Course isn't the greatest place on earth but for 27 holes, a driving range, chipping/putting green, practice green, and only $300 for a college membership its the best I could do in the area. And for some reason the regular site is down, so since its a municipal here's the city's page.

I don't necessarily have a job for a living, but i pass the time right now as a part-time employee at MC Sports in Delavan, WI (been there over 18 months) and 3/4 of the year I'm in college at UW-Whitewater.
