Just seems ironic Mayo talks about critiquing being bad when that's completely how he established himself, posting videos on youtube quoting big names in golf and saying how they were wrong. Yet apparently now he's not ok with that? Funny how that works
-
Mayo was all on the attack when he was trying to climb the ranks but people seem to think he can't be subject to the same attacks he dished out? That's not logical.
-
I don't think that video was made by Damon and there are many other people critical of Mayo, such as http://jeffygolf.com/showthread.php?1301-Trackman-Maestro-and-Pat-Perez&p;=11527#post11527

Anyone seen this, it was on twitter I think

WTF is up with her left arm in that pic... This might be off-topic, but I don't really get an instructor hitting an iron off a tee to show something...

How are you guys defining inline? As in swinging on the elbow plane? -
Hitting Up or Down with the Driver in an Inline Pattern

Most common problem with AMs is being steep. Either they EE to make up for it and this leads to it's own set of problems, or they don't and are just really steep and get a poor flight. Haven't seen many if any players that have a shallow approach without EE that aren't good strikers. -
That dude isn't hitting the ball anywhere either. If that ball goes 250 I'm surprised. It's like the least dynamic swing I've ever seen. All this looks to me is that he set up less closed, and thus the typical wipey motion results in more of a fade. I feel like instead of correcting the swing dynamics the average hacker has, this swing just pre-sets them into such a closed position, that they can make their same crappy motion and have it be ok at impact.

If you're carrying it 225, why do you play an x100 in a driver -
Can you show us anyone that hits the ball reasonably far with this approach? All you've shown so far is a bunch of really low SS players. All of them have been extremely wipey so it's not really a shock that setting up super closed would help them hit it higher and farther. I feel like showing impact pictures for this swing methodology is kinda silly too because the method is literally about pre-setting an impact position at address, so obviously impact is going to look better. The question is, what are the actual numbers in terms of path, launch and etc. If we get people into a good looking impact position by extremely pre-setting yet they end up with a path that's 10 right, that's not going to be playable for most people. It seems to me like there's no high quality video available either of the swing for some reason.

Tour guys have enough speed where they aren't worried about maxing out their distance at the expense of some accuracy. Lower spin lofts go further, but obviously also make it easier to tilt the spin axis. Hitting up is more and more important as someone's SS goes down generally, but I guess if you're a high SS player(let's say 110+) and want to hit it further, you could also focus on it. Some players run into trouble with consistent contact if they get far away from 0, like +3 and higher(and conversely the same thing for really negative), but it's pretty hard for most to achieve that positive with driver naturally anyway. It's all about matching your dynamics towards what you want from your game. Someone at -3 is going to be more accurate apples to apples than someone at +3, but they're leaving A LOT of yards on the table. All about finding the "sweet spot" between hitting it far and hitting it relatively accurately. -
I've read most of this thread, and your not a 300 yard consistent driver. And if you are I feel bad for you, because your not smart enough to score better than 90, after hitting 300 yard drives on average, and 80 percent being straight. Wow you must have alignment troubles! Can't wait till next year when your on tour! Man when you nut it, it must be at least 350?!

Is reshafting your driver a wise idea?
pinhigh27 replied to IceDave's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
What were your spin numbers like? Is your current set up optimized? Whats your swing speed? You should definitely get your driver set up how you like, not just the draw-fade aspect, the launch(high) and spin(low). -
So how bout that ride in?
-
From what I hear the grinds make these things play a lot lower than they say. I just bought a 56, buying the 60 soon, have a 52 x forged, so I will compare.
-
Sure pros hit the ball pretty far, but it's just because they hit it solid, while being decently athletic and making efficient swings. It's all about getting the speed, then applying it efficiently. Anyone can do it. I average 270-280 now, and am confident that would go up at least 20 yards if I played in tour conditions.
-
I don't know about this. Tiger and phil both hitting driver aren't in the same ballpark. Phil hits it at least 20 yards farther. In your example, tiger might have actually hit driver. This is because Tiger usually hits a low spinning driver, versus the other longer hitters which hit a more optimized high launch low spin shot.

Pros and Cons of Square and Round Fairway Woods
pinhigh27 replied to EHSGolf1's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Squares will tend to be easier to hit in the fairway, but wont be as hot in the rough as the square clubface could get snagged. Squares are less workable, meaning they hit straighter, but you can't curve them as much when you want to. -
Not where I play , as fivesomes are outlawed, I'd probably have to keep the defibrillator in my bag, for when the starters see 8 trying to go off in one group.

Hm, Isn't there a rule about pins having to be 5 feet from the fringe or something like that? A pro in florida told me about that, anyone?
-
Btw, look at a LD event, they get about 1/10th the roll that PGA players do. Stenson can't even hold a candle to quiros, let alone Sadlowski.

How good do you need to be to play on PGA tour?

Looks like a lot of people don't like him and say he cheats. I looked up his scores, and I don't see 9 wins, or a 5 under. Weird article. Wow: After reading all of the comments on that story, I highly doubt that story is true. Also it says his lowest round is 5 under in a tournament, yet he says he shot 61 62 63? Par 66 courses for junior golf tournys? Alright.... -
What won the event? What position did you get?
