  1. This is an interesting discussion. For all the sake of a label, its not a major, but it is absolutely treated like a Major in every single possible way. Fed Ex Cup points - same as a Major. Purse - same as a Major (more than The Open and PGA Championship). PGA Priority ranking - same as every Major in getting 5 years of a tour card, and actually in priority is higher than the Masters and The Open, not that it matters at the top of the priority list. So, all thats missing is a label and prestige of winning a major. I don't have a strong feeling either way, but it is interesting that it can't be called a major if its treated like a major. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....
  2. first round of the year, i typically strive for bogey golf so any round in the 80's is like playing under par for me, so I was quite happy with a 44-44 / 88 (+17) for my first round of the year. I'll try not to think about the back to back triples I had on 15 and 16 as I was trying to close a great round, but I bounced back with birdie and par to finish. I don't get a lot of birdies or rounds in the 80's so I'm quite happy. Next up, 36 holes on Saturday and another 18 on Sunday

  4. I get what they were going for, but at the end of the day being under par is good on the golf course, bad in life. If you want to make a campaign about living your life under par, you might as well just have your slogan be "Exist Below Average." Its the same thing. I get that you're supposed to naturally take the leap to under par being a positive thing in this scenario because its a golf slogan, but it doesn't work, every time i hear this slogan I just think about being less than average.
  5. yeah i don't really see any debate here. However the hole was set up temporarily, you took one shot on the hole, it went in. Hole-in-one. Not going to give you credit for an ace on a par 5 though
  6. i give all credit to the other new guy, Joaquin Niemann - what a start to his pro career. I was just hoping to get him through the cut and get 4 rounds of scoring, he exceeded that expectation slightly
  7. oh i'm not doubting their actual ability, it was more a comment about the fact that it makes for really poor viewing when they miss so often.
  8. there is a TopGolf being built near me in Michigan, so I was really interested in this show at first...but after watching a few episodes the competitions themselves are just so poor. The easiest shot to make in the game (the trench) is worth the most points? If you can hit a long iron reasonably straight you're guaranteed more points than anything but a bullseye just about anywhere else....and the players realized that so when given an option its just trench after trench attempt. That said, the overall shotmaking is pretty bad...so many zeroes in each show. The winning team is usually the only team to have both players succeed. This probably could be more fun to watch if they changed everything about it....at least I know the concept of what TopGolf will be when construction is completed here.
  9. Anyone else put any faith in the rookie? Joaquin Niemann in his first event as a pro...felt appropriate to include him in my roster in my first event with this group
  10. Thanks, never played the Yahoo version, previously primarily played DraftKings tournaments thought so I'm familiar with the points and salary caps. DraftKings was always just about the one tournament though, which is as its intended, so I always wanted to either find or create a good season long competition
  11. thanks all, nice to see some other Michigan guys too. Specifically I'm in Rochester Hills, spent a great 4 years in Ann Arbor though (Go Blue!) and still get over there a bit. Great town. Don't cross the border to Canada too often, but I do see you guys in Windsor often enough across the river when I'm downtown for work :)
  12. Hi all, brand new to the site, love golf (obviously) but not loving this current weather. Been beaten by mother nature the past two weekends here in Michigan as I had plans to get on the course...hopefully will get some actual spring sometime soon so i can play. I'm a pretty average golfer and a terrible putter, which puts my average round somewhere in the 90's I already found my way to the fantasy golf here, I love the PGA but have never had much luck finding a group who follow it outside of the majors. fantasy golf has been a recent pet project of mine as well, I've played a bit on draft kings and sketched out the beginnings of what I thought would be a great fantasy league, but never had people to fill it. Happy to have found my way here and hope to be a good part of the community
  13. Hi all, I just found this site, and naturally first post that caught my eye is fantasy golf. Hopefully you're ok with a newbie joining the contest, I was able to easily join the group for this week. I love golf (obviously, i expect thats why most people are here), but also love following the PGA week in and out, and love participating in the fantasy aspect of it, but it doesn't have anywhere near the fantasy presence of other sports and its always been hard for me to find a true season long fantasy golf league that people would be interested in for the entire season.
