So I Gamed a Top-Flite Gamer...
GolfinGQ replied to ohiolefty's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
If you are looking at Top Flites, the D2 Feels aren't too bad. Not wonderful, but I tried it out and shot pretty well with it. -
Wich of the two is better...the Bayonet course or Blackhorse?

Something went horribly wrong today - VENT.

I had the shanks on Friday, so I went to the range this morning.....same thing. My divots look fine, but I would say 6 out of 9 shots are 45* to the right. This has never happened wear I can't fix it during the same session. I want to contribute it to my working out with weights lately, but that is lame. -
Me and the wife always seem to go to Monterey for our anniversary. I wanted to switch things up this year. I try to get a morning round of golf in when I send her to the spa for a 4 hour spa day, so it has to be around a course. I was looking at Bodega Bay, and they have the New Links at Bodgea Harbour. Looks nice, anybody play it? Or any other ideas in NorCal?

When I think of big 3, I think of the 3 big 7 footers! Bynum, Gasol, and Odom.....with a little Kobe over Rondo.
-
I am glad you would, because that would mean the Lakers would WIN! Sure, Lebron would probably have more points than Kobe, more steals, more blocks........but Kobe in the best player in the league in the last quarter! Lebron doesn't know how to finish....Kobe is THE finisher in the league. Give me Lebron for the first 46 minutes.....and Kobe for the last 2
-
Talk about throwing in the towel. First field gaol in the 3rd quarter?!?!?!?!? Come on Lebron, you are better than that.....well, maybe not. I think back to how he lost to the Magic last year and acted like a baby. He is a great player, but man he has a lot to learn. GO LAKERS!!!!

I am kicking my self right now, but I am still not sure if I made the right move. I passed on Fridays round for the Open to go up to Coeur d'Alene to see my dad for fathers day and play in a tourney at the Coeur D'Alene Resort course. Its not like I haven't played there before, but it is one of my favorite places on earth!

I was looking at the new TM Deeps TP, and it says it has a deeper clubface, but thats what all the TP versions say.

Here in Cali, somebody just won $266 Million on the Mega Millions!!!! I would pay off all my loved ones debt, to me thats a little more personal than, "here is some money". I would buy 2 houses, one on Kauai, and one in Monterey on 17 mile drive. Then, I would start with Augusta, and work my way down the list of top 100 courses!

Tour drivers that have a "deeper" club face - what exactly does that mean? I know they are harder to hit.....

Can weight lifting help Golf playing
GolfinGQ replied to PuttPutt's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Here is my thought on it because I am currently going hrough it right now. Me and 4 of my golf buddies had a bet at the beginning of the year for $500 to who could lose the most % weight in 4 months (Jan1 to April 1). I was 242 lbs, the heaviest I had ever been. I completely changed my diet, gave up a lot of things, did a rediculous amount of cardio every day, and lifted weights every day - light weights / a lot of reps. On April 1st, I weighed in at 195. 47 lbs lost, won the bet by 6 lbs. I know this was a lot of weight in a shorter amount of time, but I did it the right way, and I haven't gained any in the month after. I used to be a gym rat, so my muscle memory is taking in effect now. But now my swing feels great! More flexability, and nothing in the way to restrict it. I am hitting my irons the best I ever have! But all in all, lifting weights is a great idea if you do it in moderation. Don't try to be a body builder. Focus on your core is a must. But, lifting weights is one of the best ways to burn calories - if you eat right u will lose weight - will become leaner - couldn't hurt your golf game. -
I myself, love all the different headcover that Scotty makes. I get them when I can, but don't look at it as a waste of money, but more of a quick investment. They really never seem to go down in value if you keep them new. I have bought a few at $72 and sold them on ebay for around $130 - $160. But I keep the ones I really like, and will just sell them down the road if I need to.
-
thats the one I was leaning towards...but Rotella has so many out, are they all the same?
-
So, for a lot of people, owning a Scotty is a lifestyle. From the world of collecting, to the name itself. So for everyone out the there that is part of that family: What do you game? What headcover(s) do you own or use? Have you sent it to the CS? Do you plan to? What is in your future with your Scotty? I game a Circa 62 #3 with a 2009 Skeladog headcover. I was going to send it in, but I just tried the California Del Mar and am in love. I can't wait for Scotty to come out with a headcover dedicated to Hot Head Harry (shown on the 2010 Masters headcover).

I want to get a book on putting, but want to get it on iTUNEs. I hear Put Like the Pros is good, but Itunes doesn't have it. They have mostly Rotella. Any thoughts?
-
Now that I am back from Scottsdale, I would have to change my list. Top 5: #1: The Coeur d'Alene Resort (home of the floating green, Idaho) #2: Spanish Bay #3: Circling Raven (Idaho) #4: Dinosaur Mountain (Scottsdale) #5: Troon North & Grayhawk (Scottsdale)
-
I have a Scotty Circa 62 # 3 right now, and my toe is higher than I want it to be. I was trying out the California Scotty's and I love the weight to them. But, I noticed that the Del Mar sat flatter for me than the Monterey, but the Del Mar doesn't have much shaft offset, and I have never played with one like that. But, man did it feel good!
-
any ideas? Is it just preference?

I was at Golfsmith today, and one of the guys working there showed me the new TaylorMade Super Deep TP. It is one of the nicest drivers I have ever seen. From address it looks like a 400cc, but it is a 460. It is a lot taller face wise (he said the closest driver to the high limit). Couldn't hit it yet, and can't wait until I can. He said it has a $600 price tag on it.
-
For some reason, I am having a problem with watching my putter go back, and not keeping my eye on the ball. I have recently switched from a 2 ball, to a Circa 62 Scotty. I am leaving a lot of putts short, and to the right. When I totally concentrate on on the ball, I am hitting everything past the hole. I think this all started when I noticed I wasn't taking the putter back straight, and now am focusing on that.

Forged Irons Life Expectancy?
GolfinGQ replied to kingface12's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Where can you find a loft / lie machine at without sending your clubs out? -
Looks like the gopher from CaddyShack to me.
-
So whats the feel difference with the different offsets in putters? From a full shaft, 1/2 shaft or no offset? I have only hit full shaft offsets so I am not too familiar with the others.

Anyone played Pebble in the last few weeks?
GolfinGQ replied to 65withatriple's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
I got this from the NCGA website: • 16 bunkers and 11 tees have been added or rebuilt • Four greens rebuilt to USGA specifications • Lengthened golf course to 7,040 yards • Everything in place to host a phenomenal U.S. Open... except the high rough! Right now, all NCGA members can play Pebble for $395 without staying at the lodge.
