    Working Out

Squats only hurt when you first start doing them, or if you overdo them. There was a time when I was consistently squatting heavy 3x a week. Eventually I had to change that because my hips were starting to suffer, but actual muscle soreness went away after about a week.
  3. I guess you can at least sell the YES! and go back for more.
  4. Manning has definitely had more offensive weapons for most of his career. That changed in 2007 when Moss, Welker, and Stallworth were signed. We weren't able to see if that was just a one-year thing or if they would continue since Brady got hurt so early. Eventually I think history will show Manning was better, but at this point they both should have at least 3 good years left assuming Brady can return to form post-injury.
  5. Great thread! Is that not the one that closed? I lived in Brownsburg for a few years, and my first ever round was on whatever course it is that is visible from I-74. You enter off of some County Road onto a gravel parking lot. The last time I drove by on 74 I thought I saw a For Sale sign and the grass was out of control.
  6. I wonder how much he waffled before deciding to buy? I'm sorry, it's the best I could do on short notice...
  7. It is refreshing to see people on an internet forum that value their wives. That said, if you're buying her a $1200 camera, spend the free $400 on your golf equipment, be it a putter, wedges, 8 dozen Pro V1s, whatever. And remember to put the camera on your card, more points for another GC later!
  8. Exactly. Is Terry Bradshaw one of the best QBs of all time? He has 4 rings, but no one would even put him in the top 10.

    Working Out

Just thought I'd throw this out there - if anyone is interested in lifting, for strength and size, and is just starting out, the book "Starting Strength" by Mark Rippetoe is considered the standard for beginner weight lifters by many respected fitness and strength professionals. It isn't for everyone, and I would doubt there is a ton of carryover to golf unless you've just absolutely maxed out your technique. It is just a good way to get started if you are interested. I see so many people wasting their time with 2 hour workouts doing 8 different kinds of bicep curls, people make is so much more complicated than it has to be. Also someone advocated the stronglifts.com 5x5 program, it's also a pretty good one to get started, very similar in principle to Starting Strength.
  10. Good job on getting it worked out and your 45 score. As a beginner myself I'd be pretty happy with that. I have to tell you, I read the title of this thread and literally laughed out loud. Reminds me of that episode of The Office where Michael accidentally bought a womens suit.
  11. How about a wind-up car toy from my kid's Happy Meal? Surely no one would notice.
  12. I am fortunate in that my youngest brother-in-law is a caddy at a local country club and finds and collects all sorts of lost balls. I'll be buying some non-waterlogged Pro V1s soon, at a substantial discount.
  13. None of which he won by himself, since football is a team sport. The "three rings" argument is so tired, especially post-spygate.
  14. I'm a beginner like you, so someone with experience can correct me, but I believe getting fit means having a pro analyze your swing, have you try different clubs with different shafts, and ultimately figure out the best ball, club, and shaft type for your game. I also read that you're better off getting your swing foundation down first with lessons, which logically makes sense since you don't want to get fitted for your swing, then get lessons and completely change your swing.
  15. Ok, thanks guys, I will check out the Sumos. $70-$120 sounds good to me.
  16. If it's only going to be a little better I don't think I'll bother. There are high-end used clubs for around the same price or a little more on ebay that I know will be better. I've read good things about the Callaway FT-i LCG. I assume LCG means Low Center of Gravity. Most of my drives fade or slice so something to help with that would be nice.
  17. I'm a beginner. I have a cheap set of Accuity clubs from Dick's Sporting Goods I got just to see if I even liked golf, and it turns out I do. Overall the clubs are good enough for me to learn on, though I'm sure they're pretty bad. But the driver's face already has a dent in it. I imagine this isn't going to help me learn. I've been looking around the web for drivers and came across this - http://www.golfgalaxy.com/galaxy/pro...ffset=1&s;_id=0 For the life of me I can't find quality reviews of this driver. It seems like a pretty good deal since it retails for $300, but I really have no idea. Heck I thought Maxfli only made balls. I know there are great deals to be had on ebay for used clubs, so I'm open to that too. I'm looking for a some guidance. I won't pay $400 for a driver I'm not ready for, but I also don't want to replace my crappy driver with another crappy driver. Thanks in advance for any advice you folks can offer.
  18. You may not agree with it but there is at least an argument for Peyton Manning as the QB of the decade.

    Rivalrys

In terms of NFL rivalries Dallas vs. Philly and Chicago vs. Green Bay are a couple of pretty good ones. Lately one of the best rivalries has been Indianapolis (go Colts!) vs. New England, but it has kind of cooled off some. I don't think the NFL will ever have rivalries on par with MLB though. Culturally speaking I don't know why soccer doesn't do well as a pro sport in the US, it just doesn't. Our children play it, but somewhere around high school and especially college age baseball, basketball and football take over. It seems like everyone in those gigantic stadiums is having a good time whenever I see a match on TV, but I've tried to watch and I just can't get into it.
  20. Tiger Woods, because I need a 3rd post, he has an excellent line of video games, and I wasn't alive in Jack's prime. Also, Jim Brown needs to stop talking.
  21. http://www.saddlebrookgolf.com/ 18 hole, low fees and steady coupons via email. I'm very new to golf but I've enjoyed playing there.
  22. I'm a systems analyst, whatever that means. The "other duties as assigned" part of my job description has really gotten some mileage.
