  1. The 909 has now won on back to back weeks on Tour. Granted it was in an alternate event, but Parker McLachlin won in Reno with it. I love the looks of it. I am looking forward to the article and it's debut.
  2. In case you have not heard, they will be filming the next Big Break at Boyne Highlands. It will be pretty cool seeing them playing the same courses that I have been on.
  3. There may be water hazards that have Tiger's ball, but there is a trophy case at Tiger's house that held every major trophy at once. I'm sure most guys would give up their careers to have one of Tiger's better years. To say that all Tiger does is swing hard is ridiculous. Tiger has an incredible swing and has actually backed off the all out power of his youth.
  4. You may want to slap yourself for not having a clue. She has made cuts this year on the LPGA Tour. In fact was in a great position to win two weeks ago if not for a stupid, off course , violation. Can she make the cut with the men? Maybe, maybe not, but she has shown in the past and in recent weeks that she can compete with the women on tour.
  5. Went out last night and played a practice round with my wife, son and mother-in-law. I was going to the course straight from work and my clubs and shoes were at home. My wife put everything in her truck so I could just grab it when I got there. I had her grab my Nike SP Saddles because they are more comfortable than my other shoes. Unfortunately the sole of the shoe came away from the Air cushion last year. I had used Shoe Goo to reattach it and had no problems with them. I went to put them on and found the sole had come apart again. The only shoes I had with me were my Crocs. I ended up shooting a +6 37 in Crocs. It would have been better, but on all of my drives my feet slipped.
  6. I don't know how close everyone is following, but Shindig was #25 overall this week. I believe that was the highest ranking week any of us have had.
  7. I'd say Tommy has a much better chance. She is long for a woman but still not in the vicinity of most average tour players. No matter what the reason is for her playing, it is good for golf because people are talking about it. People will tune in to watch a tournament that otherwise would go relatively unwatched.
  8. Well said. Don't you realize that you can list all the facts you want, like her having the best combined finish in the 4 LPGA Majors in 2006, and people will still say she has never done anything. Unfortunately most people don't like to let the facts get in the way of their opinions. Like the fact that she was hurt all last year and came back too early from her injuries to play in some of the big events. This was a major contributor to her poor play. She is healthy now and seems to be playing much better. Unfortunately another fact is that she is also running out of exemptions and will be limited in how much she can play against the ladies. Thus to get more competitive golf in, she has to seek other options, like the PGA Tour. It is what it is. She will always be a polarizing figure. People will either hate her or pull for her.
  9. It really depends where I am and what I'm drinking. The preference is either bottle or draft. Cans are only best when you are canoing, like I will be this weekend. That way you can just toss them in the bottom of the canoe and clean them up when you get back.
  10. OK, now I'm guilty of quoting myself. One of the big hurdles for me in joining a club has been the time needed to make the fee worthwhile. For the past 15 years I have been running health clubs. That is not a 9-5 job. In fact it can often times be a 5-9 job. Anyway, I just resigned this morning. I have accepted a full time position teaching High School Sports Medicine. My normal schedule will be 7 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday. I likely won't join a club right away, but will look into a season pass of some sort. We did come up for membership at a course by my in-laws place in West Michigan. My schedule had kept me from getting over there as much as I would have liked. With 10 weeks off in the Summer now, that will change. The membership is cheap. To pay for itself I would only need to play 15+ 18 hole rounds. 5 years ago I hit that easily. The last 4 years have been a different story. Not anymore.
  11. How many people outside of die hard golf fans know who Lorena Ochoa is? About $4 million per year less than Michelle Wie. Fair or not, Michelle Wie is still one of, if not, the most visible female athlete in the world. Companies pay big money for that. As a golf fan I may be more likely to buy something golf related that Ochoa endorses, but that is a small demographic. Michelle Wie can endorse clothes, watches, Sony, etc. She crosses over to the non-golf fan.
  12. Everyone here that knows she is only allowed to play a limited number of events on the LPGA Tour in 2008 please raise your hand. She is down to the last few events that she can play in that count towards earning a card for next year. Therefore, she needs to find other events that she can play in this year to help her improve her game and prepare her for competetive golf. She will not win in Reno. She will not contend in Reno. She likely won't make the cut. That doesn't mean that it can't help her game. If I entered in the Syron, it's one of the bigger local tournaments, I would not win. I would not contend. I likely would have my ass handed to me, but it might make me a better player. There is also the assumption that she is being forced to play in these events. Maybe Michelle wants to test her game. She was playing great before the of course blunder. Unfortunately, had she won or even finished second she would have status for the rest of the year on the LPGA Tour and would likely not be playing in Reno.
  13. Most you've ever paid for a round: $75, The Loon in Gaylord, MI Least you've ever paid for a round (other than "free"): $7 at Heather Highlands last spring. They were just openeing for the season and the weather was pretty bad. He let us make the turn for free. Best course you've ever played: Oakland Hills, South Course but the North was a close second. Worst course you've ever played: Rippling Rapids in Cheboygan, MI Most underrated course: Oakland Hills North Course. It's big brother has hosted US Opens, the Ryder Cup, PGA Championships, US Senior Open and the US Am. The North is every bit the course without all the history. Most overrated course: TPC Michigan Lowest round: 81, Cheboygan Golf and country club. Highest round: 120+ Black Forrest in Gaylord. Career holes-in-one: Zero. Easiest golf course you've ever played: Are they ever really easy? Hardest golf course you've ever played: Black Forrest Most exciting moment on a golf course: Sinking my third straight birdie on the 8th hole at Heather Highlands last year for a career best round of +1 for 9 holes. Most heartbreaking moment on a golf course: Missing a 5 footer that would have out us in the finals of our league championship last season. Most harrowing moment on a golf course: My buddy spinning out our cart in the rain where we ended up going backwards into a huge pine tree. All I could think of was my new driver getting smashed. Most balls lost during a round: A lot. Most holes played in one day: 43. I know that is not divisible by 9. We played 2 18 holers and started another 9 when darknes and drunkness got the best of us. Fewest number of putts in an 18-hole round: Don't know Most number of putts in an 18-hole round: Same as above Longest putt ever made: about 100 feet. Most putts ever on a single hole: 5 Weirdest thing ever seen on a golf course: A fox killing a crow by the edge of the fairway.
  14. I learned something in basketball camp when I was in 9th grade that I feel carries over to golf. Hurry to shoot, but don't hurry your shot. Meaning, do the other stuff quickly like getting to your ball, have a good idea of the club you want to use before you get there, don't use a ridiculously long preshot routine. However, once you are over the ball, it should not be rushed. Way more time is wasted before most players address the ball than when they are actually shooting.
  15. I just went there and measured the 1st hole on the course where we play our Wednesday night league and found something interesting. The card and sign say 219 yards. Google Earth show 234. That explains why I often come up short. Well...that and my sh@#y swing.
  16. There is a huge difference between sucks and overrated. Now that she is healthy again she has shown that she can play on the LPGA Tour. Unfortunately due to injuries last year and a bone headed mistake this weekend she will not be able to play many more times on the LPGA Tour this year. She needs to compete to improve her game. Why not test it against the guys? She is not going to win. She probably won't make the cut. That said, there is nothing wrong with testing yourself against better players. Even if she finishes dead last she can still use it as a chance to better herself.
  17. I think it largely depends on where these "used" balls are coming from. I have stated in other threads that I get a lot of my golf balls used. My wife's uncle is a barber and one of his customers walks several courses and retrieves balls. He cleans them and re-sells them for $5 a dozen. He used to sell ProV1's for the same price but recently upped that to $10. He never sells ones pulled from the water. He only goes in the rough and woods. He also doesn't sell ones with scuffs or cuts. I have never had a problem with any of these balls. My view is once I have taken a ball out of the sleeve and hit it, it's officially used.
  18. On Friday I will be quiting my job. I have accepted a teaching position with a local high school district. I will be teaching Sports Medicine. This is a huge change for me. Now you might be asking how will this effect my golf game? I am currently running health clubs. I work from 8AM to as late as 8 PM M-F. I also work every Saturday. I have not taken a vacation since 2004. My new schedule will be from 7 AM to 3 PM M-F. I will not be working evenings or weekends. I will also have 10 weeks off in the Summer. Can you say practice? I may try to pick up a golf related job for the Summer next year. I am also going on my anual golf weekend with my brother and his friends. We will be playing 90+ holes at Garland from August 15-17.
  19. She chose not to try for her card this year because she plans on finishing school. If she was not going to play a full schedule this year, there was no point in trying to get her card. If the LPGA had not had an age limit, she would have been a full member in 2007 based on her performance in 2006. In all likelihood she would not have rushed back in 2007, playing in tournaments before she was physically ready. She would have probably done well enough to keep her card for 2008 if she had been able to fully rehab and play in more events. It's unfortunate what happened this weekend. I blame her for not signing the card, but how does the scorer let her leave the table without a signature? She was 1 shot off the lead when they announced the DQ. Isn't that something they should have caught immediately? I'm not saying she would have won, but she was playing great and likely would have had a nice check that would have counted towards a position on the money list and a possible card next year.
  20. I am a Ron White guy. His dry humor is great. I like Engvall a little more than Larry, but it is likely because so much of his stuff is about his wife and family so I can relate to a lot of it. I do think some of their best stuff is when the four of them just sit arround telling jokes at the end of the show.
  21. I am a big stand up comedy fan and with Sirius Radio I listen to a lot of Blue Collar Radio. Of the four guys who do the Blue Collar Tour, who is your favorite?
  22. It was a little odd when I look down between my knees and see smoke rising up from the torch he was using.
  23. That is too cool. I played at the Boyne Highlands Resort in 2006. There are some great courses there. It will be pretty cool knowing that I have played the same holes they are on. There is a Par 5 on the Arthur Hills Course where you are hitting off the top of a huge hill over a valley to another hill that is about 50' below the tee. If you land on the back side of that hill your ball will run down towards the green another 50' below that hill. The elevation change from tee to green is unbelievable. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...a=0&i;=32213449
  24. I was at the store last night and stopped in the beer aisle. I was looking for a 6 pack to have on hand for my week alone while the wife and kids are on vacation. I was about to grab something pretty standard when I saw Wild Blue. It actually has blueberry juice in it. It sounded different and I am loving Magic Hat #9 which has apricot in it so I thought why not. It was only OK. To think, I passed on Old Speckelled Hen.
  25. Seems like an interesting procedure and much less invasive than the traditional. However, I think you may be heading up to the plate. After 3 c-sections it may not be an easy sell.
