thanks for the tip. i have been watching that guy on the golf fix for awhile now and i really like him. today i was messing around on 18 because it was late and no one was behind me and i hit 5 drives. first one i tried to hit down on it because everyone says golf is the game of opposites so if i want it to go up i hit down on it.... well that didnt work... it just went right into the ground. second one i tried hitting up on it and it worked out okay but still not great. the last three i decided to put the ball way out in front of my stance.. a good inch or 2 past my left foot so it was ridiculously far out and i just took my normal swing and it had the perfect trajectory and it felt really solid. didnt figure out how far i hit em but i hit 2 of them to the 150 right in the center of the fairway and one to about 180 also right in the center of the fairway. i was very pleased but i dont know if i will be able to reproduce it tomorrow i ended up paring 2/3 and birdieing the other one

i know what you mean. my dad tells me that all the time about it being such a small difference between a good shot and a bad shot. thanks for the tips though. my dad has also told me this also. i normally do choke it up a little bit because i feel like i have more control but i have tried holding it all the way out which makes it even harder to hit it where i want to. thanks for the tip though

not a jerk at all. maybe if they had been like "hey can we play through?" and you were like No but even in that case you still wouldn't have been a jerk because of what they had done earlier and they were skipping holes but just simply that he assumed he could and said "were gonna play through" is enough to say no right there... good job standing up to them

yeah thats what everyone tells me because i can hit my 3 wood 240 without much trouble.. i just wanna be able to hit my driver
-
hahah good one wedge player... you got me

cart is a good idea but dont be afraid. im 16 just like you and started playing 2 months ago so were pretty similar. i have a membership where i play so i go out and play by myself all the time. sometimes i get off by myself and other times they stick a guy or two with me. either way i just play my game and half the time im better than the people im playing with even though i hit it in the woods. i play with my friends alot to though

I've never been so mad to shoot a 78
John Kyle replied to right handed phil mickelson's topic in Golf Talk
haha these people are over reacting. if it had been a new driver i would be like wow dude thats dumb but it was some old piece of crap so what does it matter. now i do play with a friend who throws clubs ALL THE TIME and it does get a little frightening sometimes but i dont let it get to me. i say breaking an old club over your leg is better than throwing it and possibly hitting someone.. -
haha i have to agree that was pretty badass right there. any chance you would be willing to let us in on the secret on how to do it?
-
i keep it pretty far up in my stance because i need as much loft that i can get because it goes so low when i try to draw it. i have tried the opposite though to, i put it back in my stance and tried to hit down and it did exactly that im getting some lessons from the local pro soon so maybe he can help me.

thanks for the tips. what should my grip pressure be? and hand distance from my body?
-
i would think it would be normal to not be as consistent right after you change something but i dont know how long it should take to get back to where you were with the new swing
-
Well i just started playing a few months ago and so far i have everything down except my driver. All of my clubs (except my driver) i hit a nice draw with great distance. Now when i try to take the same swing to my driver i hit a very low hook. What i did to try and counteract that was open my stance up as well as the club head and try not rolling my hands over quite as much. What that produces is a very high fade and most of the time it fades all the way in the woods. If im lucky it wont fade to much and it will stay in the fairway but everytime i get the ball to go right to left (draw) it always goes really really low and never makes it to the fairway. i have been getting by with the fade on my driver and draw on everything else but now i want to get the draw in my driver. anyone have any suggestions?

91... not horrible for me but i was still pissed because i think i hit 2 fairways with my driver the whole round... im having serious issues with the driver... if i attempt to hit a draw (which i do with every other club in the bag) it goes super low and hooks like crazy... if i open up my stance and the club face i can manage to hit a really high fade but most of the time it fades to much and goes in the woods... its really pissing me off because im pretty good with every other club in the bag but i rarely get to use any of them except my 3 iron because im always coming out of the woods...

depends who im playing with. the blues are the tips where i play so i play that if im by myself or with my friends because thats where we have to play from for highschool tournaments but when i play with my dad and his friends i just play from the whites with them. doesnt really matter to me though

i have experience with the RE-AX 50 graphite and i love it
-
i normally have around 5-7 after playing 18 holes. normally 2-3 on each side. i have made only a few birdies before in my life and the most i have ever had in one round is 1 but hey i just started playing in June.
-
anytime and congrats on the club! glad to hear you love it just like me!

thanks for the support man! my next goal is to shoot 85 or lower on 18 or 40 or lower for 9. my dad shoots in the 70s and hits a draw so it helps to have someone good teach me and he gave me his "old clubs" which to me are still really new and amazing clubs are in my sig ps - im 16, meant to put that in the first pots
-
that could be what i have. im not 100% sure if mine is a 2007 or a 2008 because i got it awhile after i got my 2007 burner tp. i have the 3 and 5 burner woods and i love them. 3 wood i can hit a mile and i can hit it solid probably 80% of the time and i can work it both ways from a nice draw to a decent fade. the 5 wood i can hit solid about 95% of the time. i love using the 5 wood out of the rough and sometimes in the trees if there isnt anything above me. i can work it more than i can work my 3 wood so i like to get creative with it. all together they are perfect for me and would recommend them to anyone. good luck with your hunt for a new wood :)

trash talking can be fun as long as you dont go to far with it but i agree talking shit about someone's swing kinda makes me mad
-
haha i would definitely have run out there regardless of how far it was.. could have been at the back fence. or i would have asked the range man to go get it. i would recommend any Taylormade woods. I would guess Titleist woods would be good but i have no personnel experience with them
