  1. The Mashie is the real deal. I was going to get the Adams A7. Well, the Cleveland Rep was there so I gave the Mashie a shot out of courtesy. To be honest, the mashie wasn't even on my radar. I walked out with the M3 and M4. Awesome hybrids.
  2. Add a couple of grams worth. I doesnt really matter where per say. You are just trying to get some feel back. I would just put a couple of pieces on either side of the head or on the back. I have a horrible time keeping it on the bottom. Dicks and other places sell these lead strips that just stick on. Its not perm.
  3. Swing by another golf shop or Dicks and get the grips you want, some grip tape, and solvent. I have even seen precut tape. I'd do the job in the garage simply because of the smell of the solvent. Not bad, just strong. Let them sit for about an hour and you will be good to go. Enjoy the sense of pride that comes from doing the job yourself.
  4. OK....there are a couple of things at play here. Cutting off an inch will most definitely make the club play stiffer. Also, you have changed the swing weight. First thing to do would be to try some lead tape to get the swing weight back up to where it was. That is the cheapest route. I have not seen you swing, but I tend to over swing lighter clubs. Could be part of the problem. You might be making some adjustments to account for the lighter and stiffer feel. Try some 80% swings and see what happens. With the length that you were playing in your older driver at 43...that is standard 3 wood length. You could try a taylormade 3 wood shaft. Any of the golf shops around you should have one in the fitting cart. Give it a try. The only thing is that it will be a little heavier, but will play true to flex. Without knowing what type of launch and spin you are looking for....it is hard to recommend a specific shaft. Hope that helps a little.
  5. Yes there is a difference. I think a good comparison would be to think of the super as a mini fairway and the v3 as more of a hybrid. Now I don't know if the head on the v3 is actually open.....I think it is neutral. But to me looking down on it, it kind of has an open appearance. I have not hit the Mashie. I have heard a lot of good things about it though. And, it seems to have developed a almost cult like following.
  6. Agreed.....I like the original poster was in a similar boat. I ended up loosing distance when I went from a 10.5 to a 9. Same driver, same shaft. I'm back to a 10.5. What I found out was that the ground has more resistance than air thus carry is your friend. And, higher loft = more forgiveness.
  7. That's it. It will take you about 20 min. to put on new grips at this point. All you need is tape, solvent, and grips. I don't even use a vise. Just put your tape on the shaft. Wet the tape with solvent. Put a little solvent in the grip. Pour the solvent out of the grip. Slide the grip on.
  8. V3s are really good. I think they are easier to hit than the super. But.....there is a little bit of a trade off. To my eye, the v3 looks like it sets up a little open at address. Also, if you are going to go with a stock shaft, the v3 is very light for a hybrid shaft.

My luck would be one bad shot off the toe and there would be a constant reminder of a poor swing. Either way, I'm going to buy this driver...I think...I'm going to the range again tomorrow to hit it again. Did it.........one big sandy ball mark out near the toe! Dang it. Where's my sharpie?
  10. I'd say have him hit the G15, Jpx-800, and the Cally Diablos. All 3 are easy to hit and he can grow with all 3.
  11. I like that list....but i was thinking: 1. bottle rockets 2. clean tank top for the turn 3. box of wine 4. military shovel(it replaced my pitchfork) 5. Hooters coupon Of course bandaids, rain jacket, spare divot tool, extra gloves, and a sharpie will fit in there too. You might want to just holster the Colt. It can help with your sway a little.
  12. I'll throw a wrench in the works.....How about a 4 wood? My old set up was driver, 4w, 3h, 4h. It worked fairly well. Having the fairway wood is a good option for tight holes off the tee. Right now my set up is Driver, 3w, 3h(19 deg.) That replaced my 5w. 4h(22 deg.) Its working pretty well right now. Like was mentioned, you could also go with a 2h. Personally, I think the 4 wood is a great option. The only reason I am not playing one right now is because I couldn't find one that I liked. I'm a lefty and selection is quite limited. I will tell you this...my 3h is a lot more versatile than my 5 wood ever was.
  13. Sounds like something I would do! Live and learn. Part of the problem you may be having is that you have changed your swing weight. I would personally go get fitted....take your irons with you. They can make the necessary adjustments and retro fit your clubs for you.
  14. Take her and get her fitted for a shaft for it. That is part of the beauty of the r9 line. They should be able to order a shaft in the correct length and flex for her.
  15. Cally did their homework. They have put out some really good stuff this year. I think that the Diablo Edge line really stands out.
  16. I will throw out something a little different. How about one that matches your set? I went this route when I switched to Pings last year. For me, it was one of the better moves that I made. I'm getting out of bunkers better, short game around the green has improved, and I no longer dread the 75 yarder. I think that it helped me because it gave me the same feel and look through out my set. I didn't need to make as many adjustments as I did when I had a completely diffrent sand wedge.
  17. I love the Craz-e. It is the one club in my bag that has never let me down. I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.
  18. I might suggest having your current clubs fit for you instead of upgrading. Your coarse or golf shop will have a lie board. Based on your swing, and a couple of other factors you may benefit from having your clubs bent upright or flat by a couple of degrees. I know that off the shelf clubs don't fit me, and by tweeking them some I gain distance and accuracy. It improves my contact.
  19. TGW has the G10 3 wood with the ust HL stiff in stock.
  20. I'm using it on a Bold. I am just using it for distances. I am not using the stats feature. The only problem I have had was obtaining the membership code. Called Golf logix, stayed on hold for 20 min., got the code. Works well enough that one of my golf buddies offered to pay for half. I would recommend removing the free trial before making the purchase. The guy at Golflogix had to get rid of my trial version, before he could get my annual one running.
  21. They are nice bags. TONS of storage space. The putter well is fantastic. One thing though.....It is a really big bag. I ended up switching to the next size down. I lost some storage, but saved some weight.
  22. I've done the jab at the putt thing too. It can really mess up a score. We keep track of putts....I learned my lesson last week when I had to record a 7 with 4 putts. I missed the tap TWICE. I thought I could hear the Golf Gods chuckle.
  23. Go for it....if you like the 7w go for the 9 also. It will be easier for you to hit, plus you should add some consistency to your game. The 9 wood is a great club.
  24. That is what I was going to suggest. I have struggled out of the sand and couldn't reliably use my sw around the green. When I bought my last set , I also got the matching GW and SW. It has saved me around 8 strokes.
