  1. We are leaving in a week. Looking forward to some warm weather (warm for us Michiganders). We are planning on playing Valley Oaks (just because it is close), and Ridge Creek. I will have to take a look at Eagle Springs and Riverside. Thanks for the suggestions.
  2. Just booked my tickets to visit some relatives in the Visalia/Fresno California area and was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for courses over there. I am not into paying $$$$ like Pebble or Spyglass, but some local good courses. Thanks in advance.
  3. Ravines in Saugatuck (Palmer design) - nice course, great staff, well maintained. I have gone up to Garland resort (Lewiston, MI) for the past two years. 4 great 18's and you can get some great stay and play packages. Played 120 holes in 3 days this past July during my stay. Wished I could have done more, but I dont know if I could have held on to my club.
  4. Without trying to start something here, I would disagree about the Leupold statement. I have Leupold optics on all of my hunting rifles and would not switch to anything else for the price. I have both Bushnell and Leupold rangefinders. The Bushnell is a little older model and a little bulkier than my Leupold. I use the Bushnell for my golf and it works fine. I like the Leupold for hunting because of its size and some other options that would not do me any good on the course. Just my .02.
  5. Just returned from OCN. I would give the overall rating 4 of 5 stars. The staff was top notch. It was nice having our bags on the cart every morning. Tees, towels, and bottles of ice water in cooler all ready to go. Beautiful courses and great layouts. We stayed at the lodge. Rooms were comfortable, nothing special, but we were not expecting the Hilton either, we were here to play golf. The driving range is incredible. I have never seen a range like OCN's, HUGE is a good word. Nice chipping and practice sand bunkers also. The ONLY thing that was a negative (and they informed me a week prior to our trip) was the greens were in bad shape due to winter frosts. Some greens were better than others, but overall they were a 2-3 on a scale of 10. They are top coated already, which the staff explained to us that means the greens will be great in about a month. The restaurant was great and every food we ordered (with the exception of the Sunday crab legs) was great. I would definitely return here again when the greens are in better shape. They did give us 8 guest appreciation coupons. Good for $20 off a round of golf at OCN. Valid from Sept.1 2010 through Dec. 31 2011 . I do not expect to be back there next year, and would be up for offers on all of these. PM me if interested. The total value of all 8 would be $160. I can send pics to verify.
  6. I just booked 4 days at OCN for the end of this month. Cant wait to get there do nothing but golf for 4 days. I will let you know my experience with OCN when I get back.
  7. I will also attest to Maple Hill being legit. I live about 7 miles from them and buy most of my equipment there. Great staff. Cant say enough good things about them.
  8. That is great!!! Glad to hear a happy ending to this. I am planning on going to Orlando for a business trip in April and taking my clubs along for an afternoon round. Hopefully I have better luck.
  9. That video is great!! I would love to do that at the range just for the looks once. I wonder how many would catch on?
  10. 2010 Goals: 1. Get some lessons from a local PGA pro. 2. Work on GIR. 3. Driving accuracy 4. Recover from that hole where the "Wheels fell off" 5. Work on getting handicap index to 15 or lower 6. Play more golf!!!
  11. I get Golf Digest for free. It seems like there is always something I purchase that has a coupon for a free annual subscription. I like it for the most part, some good articles, some trash as well. Just my .02
  12. I need a couple new grips on several clubs. A few dozen golf balls, and some lessons .
  13. I would carry a 3 hybrid, 6 iron, and a 56 wedge. For me that is a 225 yard club, a 160 yard, and 90 yard.
  14. Thanks for all the great input. I need to practice this shot (along with many other not so common shots). It is one of those things that I just dont go to the range and practice. Let alone at most ranges around here it is hard to find a piece of clay with no grass on it.
  15. I have been playing the e7 for the later half of the summer. I am pleased with what I have seen. It does have less spin, which is good for my slice that comes back to haunt me now and then. It is a harder compression than the e6, so if your swing is faster, this should give you a little better distance than the e6 does. I dont think that it is a bad ball for the $25 range. Just my .02
