  1. i have played all of these before and i think the reviews are quite well done, i looked over a few other courses on the web site that i am familiar with and the guy does a real nice job. thanks for the link! the biggest reason i prefer needles over mid pnies is the greens. coming from PA i am much more comfortable on besnt greens running fast then i am the grain and speed variations of bermuda. tobacco road just sucks...would rahter do 36 at mid pines then split the day there.
  2. Yea, I am happy about the comments we have gotten on Pinewild and i expect it will very nice...but I am going to miss the National, next year may have to add some PH courses.
  3. I have been lucky enough to fly on a private jets several times to florida and the west coast...if you can afford it there is nothing better in the world of travel!! Sadly I can't afford it by myself but am always happy to be the guest!
  4. as narrow as he started he had to take a longer stride to get enough separation to make his swing. if you look at his swing at footplant he isn't overly wide at all he just had a long way to go to get there.
  5. b being that this was batting practice he is probably trying to put on a show...he is very long to ball, more on his front then normal and really unbalanced. if you watch the clip below you will see game footage frame by frame. he still has a large stride but his body positions are much more controled - his finish and balance are pretty amazing. The man was very aggrsive to the ball. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBmB--g0_U8
  6. Thanks will do on maxies - I don't like tobaccco road at all and if I never played it again would be fine but my best friend, favorite villan, prefered better ball partner and main drinking buddy seems to think it is the greatest...LOL it just isn't worth the pain fighting with him! Even the first T ball hitting between the fake mountains annoys me, and the 2nd shot over the burm that crosses the entire fairway i find stupid.... Glad to hear Magnolia is that good - the reason I stay away from the Pinehurst courses is just cost. I have found if you book the replays like I do it saves close to 100 a day. I don't like playing average courses when we go on a trip - I try to book the best ones.
  7. a house somewhere near the village but not sure where. thanks much for the info.
  8. Dave I have played every course you mentioned, I actually like mid-south quite a bit and southern pines is a great bargain...just only have so much time!! Dugans, ironwood cafe and holly are typical in the rotation. willing to hear local information on others!
  9. I have super stroke on my one putter and normal grip on the other...but will be replacing it shortly. I find the super stroke takes my hands out of the putt and seems to lead to a more stable smooth stroke...Maybe it is in my head, hell half of putting is, but there is no doubt it has helped me.
  10. So I have a buddies trip 2nd week of April, 8 rounds in 4 days - it is a lot of golf. We have gone there the last few years and have a list of course we want to play, we try to add one or two new courses every year. This the new venue was dormie club, its reputation stands on it own so i am looking forward to 36 holes there! My problem. We love the old National course that was purcahsed by Pinehurst, we hoped to schedule 36 there as well but at the time of our booking Pinehurst hadn't released the new proceedures yet and weren't booking rounds past the end of February. I was referenced to the Pinewild CC which has 2 courses and I was told both are very nice. My question, I can't find much about Pinewild via the search or in general internet searches. The little bit I have found for the most part has been solid to good - Has onyone here player Pinewild? worthwhile or should I call back and try to confirm the National? list below. Wed - Pine Needels 2 rounds Thurs - Dormie 2 rounds Friday - Tobacco Road and Mid Pines Saturday - Pinewild both courses or other Thoughts?
  11. if you play the proper T i don't think any of them are real hard. Caledonia from the tips can be a beast at times but for the most part has plenty of room to miss unless you really spray it. Willbrook I don't consider a hard course. pawleys has its spots...i guess i am jaded by some other places i have played but i don't think you will have a problem. 3 on and 2 putts is a fun round if you are a 15 or HC.
  12. if you really liked Litchfield you are in for a treat! Pawleys is good much better then Litchfield, diferent type of ocurse but better. Willbrook is solid I like it, it is much better then Litchfield and not near near as good as Caledonia...which is the best of the trip by a fairly large margin IMO.
  13. F****** cold evey day...HS baseball season starts in 3 weeks - that is going to be brutal. Leave for Miami on March 5 for couple day golf trip, crossing fingers it is reasonable to play by the time I return.
  14. I would say look at Casa De Campo in the Dominican. they have 2 top notch courses(teeth of the dog and Dye fore) and a 3rd good one on the resort, there is also a private club right down the road you can reach via golf cart if you want. it is an outstanding place to stay for period of time. Will be taking my wife there next winter for a couples / golf trip with several friends. they have a beach club an what not so you don't have to golf every minute. if you go make sure you visit the Marina they have a large shooping area, some bars and restaurants - can't wait to back.
  15. I assume he had a disagreement with Elin over the kids...it didn't end well!
  16. I have been a member at my club for 9 yrs and have played at more other clubs then i can recall and I have never seen a game outside of a club tournament that isn't match play...if you don't give a 3 footer or 2 somewhere you are hurting yourself for a point towards the end of the match when he needs it....and hasn't hit one. but yea don't be gimmie snob is an important lesson to learn.
  17. 18,720 minutes till departure....
  18. 2 weeks until the first golf trip of the winter...counting every minute it seems. Olde Memorial in 20,160 minutes!!!!
  19. networks might be bat shit crazy as you say - the clip is certainly made to get emotion and life is all about levels but i do think there is some truth some of her comments. The one thing that is universally understood is force, if you take one of ours you going to lose 10 of yours, if that doesn't work next time you lose 100 or 1000 or whatever makes the cost high enough that the fight is not worth having. Nobody is attacking them and it should be very clear to them that if they want to think about attcking us it will be a cost so high they won't do it...that is obviously not going to happen with our current President but maybe next election we will vote a for a person with actual backbone and leadership skills. What would Reagan do?? “Here's my strategy on the Cold War: we win, they lose.” ― Ronald Reagan , U.S.S.R. U.S.A. Summit, Moscow, May 29 June 2, 1988 oh man how bad do we need another Ronnie Reagan!!!
  20. the cost by Club standards is pretty low at both places, I would go with which ever course you prefer to play and which course you feel has a better golf membership .
  21. ugh...mine is fairly simple to understand.
  22. Ernest it is amazing to have seen the amount of shows you mentioned and not seen Bruce, his shows are night well spent. Highly recommend it but he certainly doesn't tour like he used to but back in the late 80's and early 90's there was nobody better.
  23. Bruce any one of several, Def Leppard 1987 was outstanding, Genesis Invisible Touch another classic...am i dating myself?
  24. I didn't watch the video and I agree with you the Olbermann is a douche bag!!
