Plumb Bobbing (Putting) Master Thread
pingman replied to Pinseeker81's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Man, I haven't heard of this in years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to do it, but I've gotten really good at reading my putts there's no use for it. Out on tournaments, it's very seldom that anyone plumb bob's anymore. Personally, I say there's no use for it, but then again it can either be for 1 of 2 reasons: (1) it's too complicated (2) it doesn't work. Either way, does anyone still use it, or do you know someone who uses it? I saw someone on the Senior PGA Tour I believe, but again, it's rare! Any opinions on plumb bobbing? -
check out my signature....i love my two iron for some reason, idk why....a 3 hybrid (21*) is about a 7 wood give or take a few yards. a 2 hybrid (18*) is a 5 wood, again give or take a few yards. so, which answer your question, no a 3 hybrid will not travel the same distance as a 5 wood.

hmmm, when this happens to me, i'm too far from the ball, most of the time....the rest is my swing. hit the range and figure out the problem.

I heard about this too, I wonder what he was doing out at 2:30 in the morning......hmmm, i know if it was me I'd be going out to buy some munchies, idk.....from what i've read, its nothing alcohol related nor domestic. i'm not a tiger fan, but thank God he's ight.

wow, congrats man that's awesome! bet you can't wait for 2010!
-
who knows why that is...i mean i knock my 56 110 and my 60 100 yards. really i depends on the the swing speed that you generate for the club. if i swing slow of course the ball won't go as far....it just depends cause it's different for every person. even on tour, there really isn't a "standard" but more over a wide general gap if you hit from the fairway.

fix = close it....but seriously, it could be that you're body is beating your arms around....that's usually what it is.....but it could be lots of things so i wouldn't know exactly what to tell you

congrats, wish you the best!

i've played with the bare minimum, driver, 5 iron, sw, and putter. shot 4 over on 18 on my home course. most fun i had ever had playing and it's a great experience. it felt like an accomplishment.

it's the weather man! don't worry about it. i use a srixon soft feel to compensate for the weather and loss of distance i get from using my regular ball.

I was going through the Clubhouse Topics and under Playing Tips I saw the word "Shanks" and I was immediately reminded of the movie "Tin Cup." In the movie, there's a point where he can't hit the ball to save his life, thus concluding he's got the 'shanks'. I'm not looking for tips, not looking for any advice, I just posted under playing tips because this is where I saw the word "shanks". My questions are, (1) Have you ever had the shanks? (2) What was you're initial reaction? I got the shanks the week of a big high school tournament. I kept my cool, kept hitting balls, but could not rid of the errant shots! I freaked, as so did the coaches. Lucklily, the morning of the tournament on the range, my warm up went great and I played great. Like I said, "luckily"; I don't know what I would've done if I had still had the shanks that morning! However I haven't gotten the shanks ever again. Thank God. Please no tips, this is just a discussion posted out of curiosity recieved from a movie.

Replacing shafts..Clubmakers advice
pingman replied to NormH3's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
nah, it's not a difficult process. just make sure you've read up enough and seen some videos so you can get an idea. you can do what i did, you to your local pro shop or some where around you where golf clubs are fixed and watch how they do it. i re-shaft and re-grip my own clubs, it's not that hard. go to golfworks.com and they have anything and everything you'd need to make you're own clubs. they also have shaft trim codes and instructions. good luck with your set. -
well, i didn't want to mention any names.....haha
-
hmm, cold weather balls are simple two piece, softer balls cause the cold, like it does to everything, makes the ball harder so softer balls are easier to hit. during winter i use the srixon soft feel, other than that, the rest of the year i use the zstar

wow that sucks, but hey at least you got to hit em!!!!! congrats on your new "babies" and good luck with em in 2010!

i have this game and it's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! best golf game ever!!! if you, or anyone else is on playstation network, add me so we can play! my playstation id is dextor304

they either give em away to charity or auction em off somewhere......maybe even give em away to someone if they're in a good mood. i know they have like a "library" in their basement....just rows and rows of golf clubs! i bet it looks cool!

My high school has a wierd firewall, but hopefully these links help....would've gotten more if i wasn't already in trouble for breaking through the firewall Google

that sucks, i wasn't aware of nickent going out of business. that's too bad, i would hope someone would buy them out, but then again, what happened to hogan with callaway, nickent might just go away forever....a shame is what this really is....hate seeing great companies go down...

i'm 16, been playing for more or less ten years after someone suggested it from me from watching me play baseball
-
haha, didn't get to catch that, but that's a good observation.....i'm not a fan of the stack and tilt
-
i'm sure it disappoints, but i didn't abondon the hybrid to not fix the problem, it's just not for me.....if i spent time on it, cause i wanted a hybrid in my bag, i'd be able to hit it no problem...
-
yeah, too bad you couldn't figure that out yourself but looking it up

Took my new (to me) MP-57's to the range
pingman replied to plugged's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
that's great...but your success probably came from the excite, and newly found confidence from having new clubs in your hands. happens around here alot, then after a while scores go back up. the real secret to lowering your handicap is the short game (100 yards in)...glad to hear your enthusiasm though. wish you the best in 2010! -
no sir, you're question is not plausible. i'll tell you what though, my pro shop just received clevelands new cg15 wedges. my boss (head golf pro) and i headed out to the course to give em a try, and WOW. the laser milled face just give extra biting action that's great. honestly, these are great, i'd put them in my bag (but don't cause i'm wierd, i like brand consistency; damn my mind - could be minor o.c.d.) but you should take a look at em.
