My latest video of my swing. @boogielicious and @saevel25 I have hit a few hundred balls with 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 shots while trying to keep my hands in front of the club head. I also tried more extension with right arm on the backswing. I used a wire and pipe insulation to limit my backswing. Distance is about half club shorter than before. Do you think there is less flipping now? I will keep doing these drills.

Thanks @boogielicious , I will try hit 1/4, 1/2 and gradually 3/4 swings with hands forward of club head and more hip turn. Thanks @saevel25, I will try more right arm extension. Thank you for pointing it out but it makes a lot of sense. I tried more right arm extension on the backswing and it actually limits the hip turn and overswinging which is great.

Here is my latest video of my swing. I still have an overswing of the back swing, early release and flipping. I am trying to limit my backswing to make my lower body more quiet. My goal is to have the top of the back swing closer to 9:30 to 10 o'clock rather than 11 o'clock. Hopefully a shorter backswing will minimize early release and flipping. What do you think? Do I also have a chicken wing problem? Despite my swing problems. Just because I am practicing everyday in my house my scores has been consistently to the mid 80s with 81 the lowest score the last 2 months. I am about 6 to 8 strokes better than 6 months ago. My target is to stop the backswing right here.

My backswing is too long (left arm may be 11 o'clock position at the top) leading to too much movement in the lower body and possibly one of the causes of early release. I tried to reduce it around 9:30 or 10 o'clock position but some how I am not able to do it. My lower body is relatively quiet during the turn until I pass the 10 o'clock and then my left knee collapse. When I practice I thought I have shortened the swing to the 9 o'clock position at the top of the backswing but on video nothing has changed. I am thinking about buying or building a device that hits my arm if I overswing on the backswing. Is there something I can buy or copy and build? Thanks,

It's annoying to hear Dechambeau says that he doesn't get the Covid vaccine so others can. It's like we have a vaccine shortage or something.
-
Can you imagine someone close to winning the FedEx cup and $15 mil tested positive for Covid. I hope it won't happen.
-
Considering how many people he comes into contact with and how often he is flying, it is unfortunate but not a total surprise. You can catch Covid-19 again even with being vaccinated and previously infected. It just means that your infection is mild.

2021 British Open (Players Angry Over COVID Protocols)

No, you hit 1 or 2 inches behind the ball and not suppose to make contact. Luis hit the ball first which is a mistake. -
I have struggled with my golf swing for a long time with over the top problem resulting in big slices, pulls, and inconsistent contacts. My handicap ranges from 18 to 21 and I have broken 90 less than 5 times in my life with a total of 10 years of golf. I have tried many changes and took instructions but the changes never stick. Like many amateurs sometimes I thought I have discovered the magic fix only to be disappointed later. I hope this is not the case. In the last month, I have experimented with Stack and Tilt and I found out that it allows me to have better contact with the ball and minimize the over the top problem. In my last two rounds, I have shot 14, and 10 over. In the last few months I also have a golf simulator which allowed me to practice almost daily. I don't know if the two low scores are the results of stack and tilt or the simulator or both. I find that it is easier to pivot on the left foot for both the full swing, pitching and chipping. With the full swing, stack and tilt method somehow allows my right elbow to be closer to my body and I turn and swing the club from the inside much better. I was hitting the driver 240 to 270 in the last two rounds. Before I used to hit the driver 220 to 240. I will play again in 2 weeks, it will be interesting if I can break 90 again. Has anyone else had similar success with stack and tilt?

No, he can make the putt.

The rule is simple, if you're Covid-19 positive you can't continue to play. A few players have WD because of Covid-19 before Rahm but they didn't make the news because they were not in contention. So why are you expecting the PGA makes an exception simply because Rahm was leading? The PGA is not a not a medical organization and simply follows CDC guidelines. Why do you expect the PGA to make medical decisions. What if Rahm keeps playing and 1 person he infected die? I don't know why you are dismissing Covid-19 when 600,000 Americans have died and many thousands still dying daily in the world. I know, many of them were very sick but many healthy people died too.

I just use my phone but I am looking for a USB camera and plan to mount it permanently on the wall. I just checked out Live View Pro you have mentioned and it is a little more pricey than I had thought. I may buy one anyway to have instant feedback. I agree on practicing without feedback is just a waste.

I have early release problem. I thought I have shortened the back swing to only 2/3 to combat this but I was really surprised that on video it looks almost the same as the full swing. Is this usually what happens? I probably have to feel that I shorten the back swing even more. I have slowly learned that you have to really exaggerate any change significantly to have a little change.

The fade/slice is about 20 yards. I see a small amount of improvement with the weights in the draw position. Obviously I need to fix the out to in swing. I am using a club head cover and place it on the right side and outside of the ball. I also try to shortened the backswing and have a glove under my right armpit. I notice with the longer backswing I tend to pull and slice. The shorter backswing helps a lot but I tend to revert back to the longer backswing on the course for some reasons.

How Often Should One Go to the Practice Range, Etc.?
khalespace replied to GuamAP2's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have a golf simulator at home and I also work from home. During work, I take 2 breaks of 20 minutes each to practice the full swing. At night, after my wife and kids go to bed, I spend another 30 minutes working on pitching and chipping from 10 to 90 yards. -
In every sport better training technologies and more participation has resulted in much better athletes. In sports that performance can be measured athletes today are miles ahead. I don't see why golf is any difference. Golf is much more competitive now compared to the 70s and 80s. Tiger is much better than Jack.

I have a used M5 driver with the weights set for maximum forgiveness. The seller didn't have the key to adjust the weights. I just want to know if moving weights to "draw" position in the M5 driver effective in fighting a slice before investing in a key? I know it is a band aid fix but I have tournaments coming up and anything helps at this point.

Are you a Better Golfer than a Year Ago?
khalespace replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
After having a golf simulator for 2 months my golf scores have stabilized tremendously. Previously I used to play in the mid to high 90s. My last 3 scores has been 89, 89 and 90 on tough courses. The biggest improvement is that I have completed a golf wedge matrix with 1/3, 2/3 and full swing distances and now I am able to hit the greens over 80% of of the time within 30 yards to 90 yards. This limits most bad holes to bogeys. There are stretches of 9 holes that I have only 2 over. However, my slices and pulls sometimes resulted in big numbers on a few holes. With the golf simulator, I can see clearly that I still have an out to in swing. When I consciously pretend to have a glove under my right arm pit I hit the balls really well with no pull or slice in practice. However, on the course my pulls and slices often come back which results in double bogeys or even triple bogeys when I lose my balls. I am really optimistic. With the simulator and instant feedback I think I will be able to resolved my out to in swing problem in a few months. -
It's just a small amount of money with everyone chipping in $30 for the pot, with 3 places for F9, B9 and overall. I played yesterday and finished second place with a score of 90 and most importantly didn't blow up in the last two holes.

I have shot 89 in my last two rounds of golf. In both rounds I were 11 over after 16 holes (or 7 under with my 18 handicap) and on the verge of winning our group of 24-player handicap tournament for the first time. In both rounds I managed to have 6 over in the last 2 holes and ended up third and fourth. I think I screwed up because of my weak mental game and lack of focus. With the last few holes left and it seems like the tournament were mine to lose, my friends started saying things like "you are winning, be careful" or "you've got this tournament". I don't know how but I started to make major mistakes physically and mentally after that. I have blown up like this in the last few holes many times in the past. The worst thing is that I started to think about Jean Vander Velve on the 18th hole at the Bristish Open. I wish I can unsee the "worst meltdowns in history of golf" video on Youtube. I am trying a new preshot routine to keep myself in the present. I also started to practice meditation before going sleep to help with focus. What else can help with my problem?

Sharing My Wedge Matrix - Full, 2/3, 1/3 Swings
khalespace replied to khalespace's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I plan to collect more data perhaps 20 to 40 shots each, record actual data of each shot rather than average of 5. With the data, I will calculate the variances to compare for the same shot distance between 1/3 swing shot with a less lofted club vs 2/3 swing shot with a more lofted club to see which one has smaller variance. -
With SkyTrak at home, I am able to get better yardage with my clubs. Here is my wedge matrix. Each data point is an average of 5 shots. I have collected data on 3 different days. The bottom numbers are the average. This has been really helpful in breaking 90 two times in a row. I know some people have full, 3/4 and 1/2 but I like full, 2/3 and 1/3 better. I don't hit full shot with my 52 degree wedge as I have had a few disasters with it. Do you use a wedge matrix and how is your experience? If you run into similar yardage with different clubs and back swing lengths, do you prefer the shorter swing with the longer club or the other way around?
