  1. Im glad i saw this. I went to the range and was pretty uncomfortable with my driver. I now know it was because of my right arm coming away from my body.
  2. I was trying to figure out why they are doing this. I figured out 2 theory's They are trying to make us sick of him by playing him all the time on the channel so by the time the season starts we wont want to see him on the field. or They figure Tiger is cooped up somewhere alone watching TV. meaning he will be watching the Golf channel and they want him to realize all his achievements and get back ASAP.
  3. Are the clubs fitted to you? I felt the exact same way and I just recently gotten my clubs fitted to me and im hitting 100% better and more comfortable at address and my swing. I am 5'6 so i am pretty short so i needed my clubs taken down an 1 1/2 inches and a -3 degree lie adjustment. before being fitted at address where i felt comfortable. my clubs toe was pointing up so i had to get close to the ball which caused me to have a more upright swing which made me push balls all over the place. It looks like you have graphite shafts. I will i previously owned a set of Nike sumo SQ irons stiff graphite and couldn't hit them, which i think was due to having a fast swing speed which created to much shaft flex. So that might also be your problem.
  4. I gotta go with Nike Victory Red split cavities. Blade like feel with some forgiveness. You wont be sorry.
  5. Is the ball forward in your stance? this could help with trajectory
  6. I just signed up also. Never been in a fantasy league but it will help cure the itch of not being able to play right now.
  7. I just got back from the place I got fitted from (dicks sporting goods) and they had me hit more balls. He had to adjust he lie of my clubs -3degrees and bam I'm hitting fantastic. I asked about the.the weight and flex Jeff said its spot on for my swing speed and such so I am majorly happy. The biggest surprise was my feel to the putter. It was 35" he cut it to 33 1/2" and a oversized grip I love it I feel so much more stable and control over it. Driver was cut down an 1 1/2" and its a lot more stiff and feels great. Big props to dicks sports in Brighton for any michigan people looking to get fitted
  8. The shafts being spine align allows for a very stiff shaft from what I have read. The Guy said I should be in regular. So i am com back to test the clubs out and make the necessary adjustments. Thanks for the wieght statement I will ask about it
  9. As the subject says I went to get my clubs fitted. I am 5'6 and i think my wrist to floor length is 32 if i remember correctly. From what i gathered i needed an inch taken off my clubs and my lie of them need to be -3 degrees. He says this all depends because of where the head is at impact. Which makes sense to me i guess so he said we were just going to cut the length down. So i go in there he has me warm up by hitting 30 balls or so. while i am doing this I explain that i feel i have adjusted my swing more upright because of having to lift the club to be flat yada yada yada... So right away he tells me my clubs aren't really forgiving and that hitting the sweet spot is key. ( I am thinking Duh!!!) So he puts the tape on 6 of my clubs and i hit 5 balls or so each off them. I started with my longer irons down to my pitching wedge. I hit dead nuts on the sweet spot with my 3 iron (which was my best ball striking out of all of them.) Going through the clubs i didn't make any crazy mishits but i did stray a little in the middle when i was getting tired from hitting right after another. Now i also want to say this was my first time hitting balls since mid November. after observing he measures wrist length and tells me my shaft flex is good for my irons which are Regular and that we will start by cutting i believe an inch of the clubs and see how that goes. Now i start asking questions about my driver and 3,5 wood. my driver is a regular flex shaft which i hit avg of 265. He says the shaft flex is good ( i wanted to goto a stiff shaft.) my 3 and 5 wood are spine aligned with prolaunch shafts, hella heavy and hella stiff ( i bought them for 100.00 all together couldnt pass that deal up) So i asked about re aligning the shaft so they were not spine aligned and he said we will just cut them down and see how it goes (These clubs are the hardest for me to hit. When i play i just dont feel comfortable hitting them unless teed up they just feel so stiff and heavy.) but i go in tommorow to hit some balls again and see if we need to adjust the lie of the clubs. My question to you guys is this a similar experience when you had your clubs fitted?
  10. i am 5'6 and have a Nike sumo 5900 factory spec'd and i to feel that i swing across my body. I have tuned my swing to hit a fade and land in or in the close vicinity of the fairway. My average drives are 265-275 I have gotten lucky and surprised my self with 290. So their is hope just keep practicing. personally i choke down on the club 2inches. i align my self with the right side of the tee box and aim to the 10 yards outside of the left side of the fairway. make sure you swing through the ball just not at it.
  11. I am going to start walking next year with a push cart. I am just wondering what are some good shoes to wear that I wont feel pain by the end of my round. my shoes now are kinda cheap. Id like to get a nice pair of Nike since im a Nike fan boy but, I am open to suggestions. Thanks in advance
  12. I really cant wait till my son is old enough to play. he's 16 months right now and im already trying to get him a set of clubs small enough for him haha. I am also hoping to join a league next year especially since my membership covers green fees. I just don't know if i will be able to because of school schedule.
  13. I am going as soon as i can with my clubs, no rush as of now since i live in Michigan and its snowing. I do have a net though to practice and such in the garage so i would rather get it done sooner then later. I've read a lot of people saying No and their reasons why. Personally i have to choke down and scoot up to my ball to get my lie on my club to sit flat on ground. im 5'6 and i think my wrist was 32" which means i need a -3 degree lie on my clubs which makes sense. I have no doubt in my mind that i will see improvements in my clubs especially in my wedge's. my swing with my clubs unfitted is not comfortable at all. ** I think when you buy clubs off the shelf they are made for the Average person according to height and wrist height. Which would make it ok for a lot of people in the world not to get fitted. on the other hand even if your clubs head is correct, your shaft flex could be wrong which could cause problems too..
  14. I believe my life is in order as much as it can be =). The thought of failure is in my mind from every now and then just because school is so hard but, failure is not an option. I work hard everyday to make sure that doesn't happen by studying and doing what i need to do to make sure i pass. I have a wonderful supporting family which help me in any way i need =).
  15. That would be so awesome. I remember in high school we finally had a golf team a year in or something like that and i remember I was one of those people who knocked sports like golf down. Man do I wish i would of joined up and played. Good luck I hope you do get a scholarship.
  16. Congrats on your daughter. I am hoping for a daughter this time around =)
  17. Very valid questions, and I think I got a little overboard with my post as it was not meant to be a big story but rather a question. I just read over it again and it seems like i made a Venting post. Declaring bankruptcy was the hardest thing for me to do as I am a prideful person, but i had no choice. and for not having time to find a job I really dont. Last summer i dropped one of my 6 week online classes due to it being pretty hard online. So this gave me 6 weeks free which I loved. This gave me a lot of golf time to play as my father and my father in law was laid off we took up golf together. Now I still do side jobs here and there on weekends when I can get away long enough to do some work usually found by my brother in law and other miscellaneous ways posting ads and such on craigslist and all that. The Loan was a student loan. I am fortunate enough to get school pretty much paid for. So trying to be money smart I don't use all of the loans that are available to me. I did splurge on the set of golf clubs though they are not all new. Thank god for ebay. The membership came from work done for my mother. I put her roof on her house and spent 2weeks doing it altogether which is a hell of a long time for a roof ( professional roofers could of done in 2days with a full crew), but it was only my father and I working on it both have only limited experience roofing though I wouldn't call it hard by any means. As for cash vs the membership it was discussed between my wife and I to just ask for a golf membership and a club fitting which is not expensive and doesnt even come close to what would be owed but my wife and I have helped out with my in laws in the past so we deemed it only fair. As for priorities i don't know what you mean. I believe i have them in order. I am in school and it is really hard in their medical program. I feel that I am a great father. My greatest joy with my son is just lying next to him while he sleeps and just looking at him I hate to sound dramatic but if I did not have my son in my life I would of probably given up on my life and disappeared. I do wish I had not read your post as you have put into question how much time with i have this coming spring and summer. Which if i'm correct not much! but hey 9 holes a couple times a week ( i sure hope) is better then nothing.
  18. I took up golf this last year and its on my mind all the time. I live in Michigan so i haven't played since mid November (freezing my butt off). I love the game, and although im not amazing at it.. yet i think it gave something to me i cant really explain. When i am on that course nothing comes into my mind other than golf. Which is a relief in my current life. I am 25 years old and married I have a 16month old boy and another child on the way (wife forgot the birth control haha). I graduated HS in 2003 and went straight to work in construction under my father full time doing finish carpentry. I made very good money for my age and in 2006 I was basically running the company. I had a house, 2 vehicles and a pretty good life. Then my life changed My wife and I decided to try and have a child. She got pregnant but lost it in a miscarriage soon after. She was crushed and was depressed and determined to get pregnant again as soon as possible. Soon after the miscarriage work took a big hit. We had signed a contract for a 500 home subdivision in Okemos (pretty popular city in Michigan near Lansing) after finishing around 10 homes the company killed the contract and i believe filed bankruptcy soon after. This killed my income. the months followed got even worse. My wife was hellbent on bringing a child into this world, and after she got pregnant again we found out she had a Atopic pregnancy (where the egg gets stuck in the Tube i believe) So she had to go through surgery and remove it thus losing the baby.We now had to wait a year to try and have a child again. My wife was now crushed and depressed again and I was struggling to find work. Once I did finally find some job site to work on we were getting screwed left and right. The only work that was going on was Custom homes usually 10,000 sqft which was awesome because there was a couple months of work there. Well eventually the guy kept holding money and we got screwed out of 10,000 dollars. My life started falling apart... at 24 I had to file bankruptcy and I pretty much lost everything. This now took a toll on me I wanted to seriously just die. I couldn't handle my life as it felt like it was spiraling under control. I think i sat in a depressed state doing nothing for a close to a year. in the coming months my wife became pregnant (which wasn't the best time to bring a child into this world but the depression she felt when thinking of not being able to be a mother really hurt her) and thankfully everything was ok minus the delivery where they were both having problems. Her uterus wouldn't contract so she kept bleeding, and my son was having problems from pooping before delivery so crap was in his lungs. I thought the world was ending. I was trying to stay calm because my wife kept asking "Is this normal? ... is this normal? The doctor was just punching her stomach basically to contract her uterus. This was probably the scariest moment in my life. Thankfully everything turned out fine. I had a beautiful son that seemed to breath new life into me as i think it does with every parent. Well now im trying to think of what to do...after applying to tons of jobs and not having any luck in this hell hole of a state I decided to go to school for nursing. My wife and I live with her parents along with her sister and her son. needless to say the house is cramped and very loud with 2 young ones running around. If all goes well I will be done with my Prerequisites and apply to the Nursing program. Which I am now learning that i will most likely have to wait to get in which could be a year or even more since so many people are applying to it. As it is now I cannot get a job, not because i cant get hired but i don't have the time. I am a stay at home father who has to schedule his schooling around other peoples schedules so I have someone to watch my son. I am literally up till 3am at least 5 days of the weak for that i can usually start studying at 10pm after my son goes to bed. Usually to wake up at 8:30 with my son. This has taken a toll on my body. Sometimes it seems when i finally do get into bed that i stare at the ceiling all night. My wife works a full time job as a claims rep making 14/hr which makes things very tight. So needless to say life has been hectic, and depressing through the past few years, Not to mention we have had many glimmers of hope that could of changed our lives substantially but fell through. The worse being a promotion where they told my wife she got the job only for them to come back and say the higher up people said they couldn't hire her because she did not have a bachelors degree. This was depressing because the pay raise would of allowed us to get our own place and live a lot more comfortably. I believe it was last May my father asked me if I wanted to go golfing. I said sure and something happened where i was just addicted. I was lucky enough to do some work for my mother in exchange for a golf membership at a place that offers 2 courses per membership. I took some of my loan money and bought some nice clubs which you can see in my signature. As it being winter in Michigan it is quite depressing not to be able to play but i bought a net and mat to practice in the garage =). I told my wife I have at least 2 years to become a PGA professional or a Nurse ha ha. I have always been naturally good at sports, which i think is why i love golf because i am not naturally good at it. I love that essentially the only factor that can play against you is really mother nature, other than that its you vs yourself. Golf has allowed me an outlet to clear my head of the 100's of things racing through it at any given time. I am just wondering are there any stories like mine where golf has changed you or helped you get through situations in life.
  19. This thread makes me want to ask what training aids do you guys use? I have a net that i will be setting up in my garage with a mat. just need to get a torpedo heater haha.
  20. Has anyone came across a company that will make them? Ive searched and searched only to come to companies with 25 minimum purchase. I want a buckle like AK's lol.
  21. I just found a nice used set of VR wedges on EBAY i feel like it hit the lottery.
  22. Nike Victory Red Split Cavities Nike Sumo Sasquatch Stiff graphite which i need to get around to selling.
  23. I enjoyed big break this season as a hole. I was actually rooting for andrew to go all the way. What I found hillarious through the whole show was Blake spoutting his mouth all day. Talking about how they could of got rid of kevin earlier and how he was such a good golfer and yet hit 75% or more of his shots badly. All in all i thought it was a great season and finale.
  24. I honestly am not bothered by Tiger's mistakes. Divorces I think happen in 50% of marriages due to people making mistakes and falling out of love. I can live with that. What will bother me liking him as a person is if reports are given on him being a bad parent which I hope he is not. We don't know what happened indoors with them. She could of drove him batshit. As my wife sometimes does.
