  1. I've never been close to fisticuffs. I have made respectful comments to a group or two that have hit into myself or partners. It's a shame for those folks involved. Someone is going to prison for a long time. Cooler heads should have prevailed.
  2. My wife is just getting started. She has a new starter set and 3 lessons to go to. I'm starting her out on a short 9 hole course. I'll take her on a regulation course after she's had her lessons and I'm sure she can keep up.
  3. Yesterday I shot a 92, 45/47, at Hemet Golf Club...par is 71.
  4. More funny than annoying...was paired up with a threesome a couple of weeks ago. One of the guys, looked a lot like Capt. Jonathan Hillstrand from "Deadlist Catch", without warning would sing "like a virgin!"...I guess the song was stuck in his head. He couldn't help himself...he became embarassed at one point.
  5. I go solo to the golf course more times than not. I generally get paired up with another single or group. I have been very fortunate to have played with some very nice and interesting people. So far the most interesting twosome I played with was super cross racer from Ecuador and his former mechanic from New Zealand. Both really nice guys and very dedicated to their round. Last week I played with a former electrical contractor turned studio musician. I really love the game of golf, (just wish it showed me some love back), meeting new people is the icing on the cake.
  6. We lost Quail Ranch in Moreno Valley in little over a year ago. However, it dosen't look like the other courses in my area are hurting very much.
  7. Congratulations! Huge milestone...trying to break 90 myself.
  8. Yep...There is a 9 hole course I play where I have lost balls hitting the fairway! The course is lined and holes separated with cottowood trees. The tree shed leaves all year long that litter the fairways. If the ball gets under the leaves then, forget it. I get used "5A" pro V1 from a friend of mine for $20 per dozen. If I lose a ball there it only hurts half as much. If you want to still hit pro v1 there, I suggest buying used balls as others have stated.
  9. Never found anything weird in my bag. Did how ever found something missing from my bag...my 60* wedge. Must have left it on a green last Sunday . Called the golf course asking if anyone turned in a Vokey wedge. "Nope" the guy answered and added "most folks won't turn in a nice club like that". Found that to be an odd statement since I know I would and have.
  10. Nice! hit'em straght!!
  11. Oh, I don't know. Would hitting and chipping in my backyard till dark then golf channel till I fall asleep be considered addictive behavior? If it is, I refuse to participate in an intervention.
  12. Exactly...he has probably gone thru all the emotions and tears in private.
  13. Thinking about taking a drive to Long Beach for the LA Golf show next weekend. For those of you that have attended in the past...is it worth going to? http://www.lagolfshow.com/
  14. My brother in law... 1) waits till groups ahead are practically on the green before he hits...his average drive is about 160 yards. 2) takes practice swings till he makes a crater size divot. 3) constantly violates dress codes 4) takes cell phone calls even if it's his turn to hit 5) talks in my back swing 6) can't keep track of his score and 7) if he has to use the restroom, he insists on going only at the club house...no matter what hole we're on! pray for me
  15. I'm not much of a reality tv fan but, Deadliest Catch has to be one of the better shows out there. These are some of the toughest SOB's around. Capt. Phil was one of very few famous people that I would like to have met...My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment...rtainment%2529
  16. Thank you for sharing the video...my father-in-law was in the Army fighting in the Pacific during WWII. He passed recently at the age of 84...one of the greatest men I've ever known.
  17. Thanks for the welcome guys! I usually play there or Diamond Valley. The greens at Landmark (FYI-they changed the name to Hemet Golf Club) look really good after the new management took over. I'll give you a weeks notice next time I head out there. I've lived out here a long time so, yeah, I know where you are at. I like it a little better on this side of Mt San Jacinto during the summer...gets freaking hot your way!
  18. I hunt quite a bit. After hearing a bunch of b.s. about California not having any game to hunt, I decided to design an avatar that included some of the game that California has to offer.
  19. My name is Wendell. I've played golf off and on, mostly off unfortunately for almost 30 years. I finally bought my first set of "real" irons (Titleist AP1's) just before Christmas last year. I seem to be hitting them pretty good...well, better than the old set I had. Looking forward to getting to know as many folks here as possible and hope to get in a round or two with some of you in my neck of the woods. God Bless, Wendell
  20. Played both those courses 1 time each on the same day...about wore me out! Had a great time though. Looking forward to playing there again.
