Without a doubt my favorite swing to watch.

Depends on the yardage, rating and slope of the course.

Demo'd MP 52s and MP 58s today...wow : )

As a 22 handicapper I am not sure why you are focused on forged irons at this point.. and talking about working the ball? Can you really hit a fade or a draw on demand consistently? If so you must have an atrocious short game or driving game :) Not trying to be a jerk but most 22 Handicappers should be looking at a good set of game improvement irons IMHO. Hell I am a 4 and thing about hitting game improvement irons, and I can hit a fade on demand about 1 in 4 tries. You should really be working on being able to consistently hit a single type of shot over and over again. By trying to "work" the ball you are probably doing more harm than good at this point. If you focus on hitting a consitent 5 yard draw or fade you will see your handicap drop much quicker than worrying about working the ball in both directions. IMHO YMMV -
Aftermarket shaft comparable to TM ReAx
mrt10x replied to MikeLowry5's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I tried the same thing a couple of months ago,, I had the 9.5 with a 50 gram stiff but I wanted to hit a 8.5. Couldnt find a 8.5 with the 50 gram, not sure it was even made, NO aftermarket shaft came close that I could find, called TM and they wouldnt sell me one, so I bought a 8.5 with a Proforce Red shaft and moved my 50 gram into it. Perfect club now. I think your only hope is to buy a used 07 burner with the 50 gram shaft and reshaft with the head you want. OBTW even the Stiff 50 gram has a low kick point that will hit high balls. -

i witnessed a man dislocate his knee at the driving range
mrt10x replied to clearwaterms's topic in Golf Talk
Not on the range, but I was playing behind an elderly couple a fews back, and the old dude shanked a ball right into his wifes eye. When I reached them her eyeball was basically hanging from its socket by a thread... lots of blood... called an ambulance and off she went.. I wiped her blood off my hands and finished my round... I mean it was only the secon hole.. I couldnt quit. -
What do you think about Golfsmith Customer Service?
mrt10x replied to ronaldkuntoro's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
This is a bit like asking what is the service like at your local Walmart.. I mean there are hundreds of Golfsmiths employing thousands of employees.... each one of those employees will give you a different experience... and getting a positive review of one store has absolutely zero correlation to the service you might recieve at another. -
http://www.mccshawaii.com/golf.htm Here is a link to a picture of the hardet hole on my course.. I cant copy it into photobucket here... It is 450 yards.. with a 15-30 mph wind always blowing.. from which direction depends. Fairly narrow fairway, with no where to bail out. I have played a few shots off the beach.. .and I draw the ball :)

Perfect,, shot 75, 76 over the weekend... of course I have spent the last 3 years in Hawaii... the 4 years before that in San Diego,,, ask me again this time next year after my first winter in Rhode Island :)

Amazing since the 08 tour burner is considered a total dog in the TM world. Even the 09 burner was not as good as the original 07 Burner... OBTW I should have said 07 Burner TP... the non TP had that closed face that was just hideous.
-
07 Burner, longer than anything they have made since.

My misses into the green come from inconsistent distance or an over draw of the ball.. I often leave approach shots short due to poor contact, on the fringe, 7 iron chip, one putt, par.... my other miss is an into the wind draw that misses left... still i get up and down more often than not. I have had lots of 76,77,78's with 0 birdies... but lots of stinkin pars. It is pretty rare that I miss a green from inside 175 yards by more than 10 yards.

The better deal, what do YOU think
mrt10x replied to Twigs199's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It is questions like this that keep me single. IMHO the Hagens are not worth the $200... in fact they will do more harm than good... the Titleists are the way to go. -
how hard is it to shorten a putter thats been lengthened?
mrt10x replied to bopanic's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
simple.. as long as you dont want to save the grip.. cut the grip off, mark the line you want at the appropriate length, turn on dremel, cut away. Put on double sided tape, apply solution, slide on new grip, ensure it is straight,, wait a few minutes,, putt away. Why would you think it would be hard? Do you want to completely remove the extension? Kind of a waste of effort.. just cut right at the joint, or slightly above or below it.. you could do this in like 10 minutes, and that would be giving you 5 to make sure you measure twice, and cut an even slice. If you want to save the grip.. it becomes harder,, I know it can be done.. I just havent ever done it. -
fourputt, do you even read these posts before you start to disagree with them? Randy did not say that best ball was a scramble, or the other way around. Simply stated that often scrambles are mis-labled as best ball. I can recall dozens of times this has been the case. First thing I thought when I read the OP was "wonder if he is really playing in a scramble," because rarely do you actually see a best ball tournament. In fact I have never seen one, except at the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, and I have never played in one.

Well line of sight is a key problem, so I dont think you can discount it. Plenty of doglegs, over the hedge shots, distance to a bunker, distance to clear a lake, etc where a rangefinder wont get the job done. I used a Bushnell 1500 for at least 5 years and now the 1600 for the last year so I have plenty of experience,, I carry both a GPS and the rangefinder. I use the rangefinder 95% of the time, and always recommend it over the GPS, but the few times I need a GPS, it really comes in handy. I will admit that there have been entire rounds where I have not used the GPS,,, I usually shoot in the low 70's when that is the case :)
-
Unfortunately you are absolutely incorrect. Different companies use different algorithms, use different software to interpret where they are at. I have had plenty of experiences in the Marines standing in the middle of a desert, with two different GPS's telling me that they are 20-30 meters apart from each other. Now these are military grade GPS units that should be the best in the world,, ,with over 12 satellites being tracked simultaneously. Furthermore, you completely ignored the fact that in my foursome, a regular foursome that plays together every Sunday, we could stand in the exact same tee box and have one unit read 125 and another 135. Meanwhile my laser, which is spot on by definition, reads 130. Consistently the Sky Caddie was the closest to the laser. We never had the opportunity to check it against a smart phone GPS App. Like the other poster said.. I still gave my sky caddie to a buddy after a couple of years paying their silly subscription fees, but that doesnt mean it wasnt more accurate than my current unit.
-
Because they are more accurate. I had a skycaddie.. got rid of it for a Golf Buddy,,, all courses already loaded. I also use a Bushnell 1600 laser. In my foursome one day we had my golf buddy, a sky caddie, a garmin, and a uPro, plus my laser. The only GPS unit that was consistently within a yard or two of the laser was the sky caddie. The other units would be as much as 10 yards off from the laser and there were sometimes 15 yard gaps between the different GPS units. I wont go back to the sky caddie because I only use the GPS for quick estimates on shots that dont have to be exact, or when I am behind a tree line or other obstacle that blocks the laser,, but I have no doubt that the sky caddie with their "we walk every course" method, is the most accurate GPS unit out there.

found a pic of it on some UK websites.. I had a bag like it in the past.. definately longer clubs in the middle.. i.e. woods/rescues. Definately a circular thinking bag.. we here in the States like everything to be linear... well ordered.. logical... with discipline.. none of this artistic willy nilly club placement you freaky Eurofolks go for. :)

For me it equals out.. on an unfamiliar course I probably cost myself 2-3 shots for just not knowing.. on the other hand on my two home courses I probably give up those strokes to the yips,, not just putting yips..but remembering every time I left the Tee shot on #13 out to the right and OB,, or every time I yanked my approach on 10 into the hillside .. so all those bad memories often cause me to be tenative and when I am tenative,, I suck... so like I said...it all equals out for me.

Golf Bags, What do you do?
mrt10x replied to Donnie_Brasco's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I will admit it I always match my bag to my irons.. and usually other items as well.. whatever,, I have the money so its not a big deal to match them up.. I do think that C-130 cart bag is probably the best cart bag out there though.. -
Shoe and Bag Suggestions Please
mrt10x replied to WALRUS's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
i switched from from 20 years of playing in footjoys to Addidas last year.. most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.. if you want a cart bag.. go with the Titleist Lightweight Cart Bag.. really good looking.. and well laid out. -
I dont really keep track anymore,,,but I know I have had 4 since the beginning of the year alone.. dozens over the last 20 years.. but never a hole in one.
