I've hit the callaway x-tour and the titleist 906f2 both with aldila fairway. To be honest they play and look quite similarly: small, heavy, low trajectory and unforgiving compared to most others. They do rocket off the face even with the smoothest of swings when hit well. Callaway has a slightly louder sound compared to the titleist thump. Tricky (for me) to get a decent carry off the fairway so usually off the tee.

Taking Divots vs sweeping the grass
Leo Morris replied to airlefty's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Do not hit down with the driver! It will cause excesive backspin and ballooning, hit it level or slightly upwards. With the fairway woods off the tee hit level or slightly downwards, and slightly downwards if playing off the fairway. Always hit slightly downwards with the irons and wedges, you will get a better strike. -
Sorry, right handed.

Hi, Been watching a few clips of my swing and noticed one major fault (amongst others) which i do not know how to fix. My hips are not turning at all at impact and my right foot is not pivoting. Therefore, when i turn into my follow through, when my hips eventually catch up, my left leg/knee bends towards the target. Help is gratefully recieved...

I'm standing up at impact...
Leo Morris replied to WhiplashSmile's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
If you're standing up but still striking it well your clubs are just a bit long or the lie angle needs adjusting. If you are not hitting it well try and feel as though your knees and back are staying level and you are maintaing your posture right through the shot. -
Yes I've go it too. Like you said its from trying to hit it too hard, but the spinning out is a cause of trying to get power from your body. Remember to get your arms and shoulders in sync with your hips and play for control. It happens to me when I hit it slightly fat and naturally i try and hit it harder the next shot hence the spin out. One more drill is to hit balls keeping both your feet flat on the ground.

Isn't 'lag' a contributing factor to 7-Iron Distance?
-
You're probably either flipping your wrists at impact in an attempt to get the ball airborne or sliding your hips towards the target at the start of your downswing (using body too much) or dipping at impact. Just try keeping a nice smooth tempo and keeping your posture the same throughout the swing, hard for us trying to rip it...

'The weird thing is my ball is going a LOT higher, too. It's a bit freaky, but my swing is in a better place right now. If I can get the hang of maintaining my lag a little longer, I should really be getting them out there.' What exactly do you mean by maintaining your lag?

Had the same sort of problems too... maybe give the new 'Stack Swing' a try on golfdigest, it promise for a lower flight. I've also been hitting the odd one fat, have you found that?
-
Sound's as if you may also be sliding your hips laterally towards the target hence the 'fat cut'. Try keeping most of your weight on the back foot and TURN your hips and arms in sync, ie. dont try to create power with your body. Drill: Get a chair or something and take yor normal posture except rest your front foot on the chair and hit some balls. You should get the sensation of staying behind the ball more and osing the shoulders for power. (I used to have this problem!)

why am i hitting it off the toe
Leo Morris replied to asianpsuation's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
For a few weeks I too was hitting off the toe but not with disastrous results. Just never felt that satisfying click when you hit the spot. Found out I was taking the club away too much on the outside and doing a big loop inside on the downswing hence hitting it off the toe. It's always cold in England so who knows, it might just be the weather... -
Watching the Pros on courses you've played
Leo Morris replied to flashman70's topic in The Grill Room
The Majilis course at the Emirates in Dubai is fantastic (Dubai Desert Classic) It just shows you how tough yet beautiful some course's are. Unfourtunately I went 1 week after the Tournament, but after hearing some of the rounds they shot I am still amazed! -
Getting a new set of irons: need input
Leo Morris replied to theboom's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Seeing that you have no problem in distance, 190 6 iron, you would probably benefit more from DG S300. Cs-lite also feels softer which is a personal preference. To be honest, unless you're really good, i doubt you're gonna tell the difference between the two. DG S300 (which is stiff) is also the most popular iron shaft so you cannot go wrong. -

It depends what your looking for, coming from ping cs-lite to DG S300 I found that the cs-lite had a much higher ball flight than DG S300. DG S300 help me also in keeping a smooth tempo as they are heavier and stopped me from overswinging. However, If your trying to gain distance stick with the cs-lite, if you want control, go for the DG S300. Try out the i5's too as they will give you more feedback and willl ultimately help you improve quicker, you should be able to handle them. Go with stiff too. -
Who has the most best, beautiful, and ugliest swing on the Tour?
Leo Morris replied to ipark1303's topic in Tour Talk
Ugliest swing has got to be: Jeev Milka Singh! If you've heard of him! -
Bring on the English iron problems! I'm looking at the 735's and the RAC tp's but they dont have them in american golf...do you know any place where you can try them? Would love some feedback on the two irons! By the way mizuno are also sweet, tried the mp-60's and the mp-67's , the 67's I found felt and peformed better than the 60's, but maybe a little too pro for me, may have to consider the 32's if i can find some. Lt 2's felt ok and perfomed alright but didn't compare to the mizuno's. Hope this help's.

Dynamic Gold gives you more spin? -
I'm having difficulty deciding whether to get dynamic gold, rifle flighted or project X in my irons. Please can some of you tell me differences in trajectory, spin rate ect between these shafts. Im looking to achieve maximum spin, my Driver speed is 95-105 mph.
