I have the latitude V2 bag. On the whole I'm very pleased with it. It's not the lightest bag in the world but it has plenty of storage space. The only slight issue I've had is that the putter slot has broken it's stitching inside the bag and my putter can get caught against my driver shaft making it stick at times, but that isn't a biggie.

I have the Taylor made R9 TP with the stock Fujikura Motore TP Stiff shaft. I love the feel off the head, it is perfect, but I do find I hit the ball too high and in wind I struggle to control my ball flight. I am looking for a .335 shaft that will hit the ball lower than I currently do, the shaft stiffness is fine. Most of the shaft specs I see online state a high or mid ball flight. Thanks.

Why are people surprised that the greens will be slower at St. Andrews this year? We have been having some really hot weather over here and they can't run the greens as quick as they'd like. They can't poor water all over them like the American courses to keep them lush and then cut them short. Also when we the method putter released? If it had been available in 2005 then that may raise a few more questions but maybe this is the first time Tiger has found a putter he is happy with on slower green over his Scotty.

It's not like this isn't without precedence for Tiger. Back in 1998 I think he swapped his TeI3 for a Ping Anser he borrowed from Mark O'Meara for the Open at Birkdale I believe. Because of the extremely hot weather we've been having over here the past few weeks they won;t be able to cut thr greens really short or they may burn up and be crazy, so yeah they will be a bit slower than usual. Ha, like we would have a Match Committee, they definitely wouldn't know what to do! Yeah, I'm gonna go out and shoot low in the play-off. No sign of any work yet so I have plenty of time to practice.
-
Yeah I guess I could, but you know I'll just go out and win the play-off to make sure I win! I'm not gonna kick up a load of dirt over this, if they want to play petty games I just need to practice even harder and make sure I win!

We have a competition results board and the results where posted on there so in my book that is classes as "official" The decision for the resolution of ties is outlined in the English Golf Union guidelines so that is not a rule per say, just a guide line.

OK, trying not to make this sound like a moan because it isn't but here is what happened. Yesterday was my courses club championship and I've won it 3 times before but not been playing well for the last few years and after a 6-over 78 was a bit disappointed to be 5 back but a second round 71 put me back in with a shout. Anyway last night when I left the course there was no officials there, the scores just went in the competition box and I left it. Anyway this morning when I was there I was told I'd won after two of us finished on 5-over but I had a better second 18; 71 to 76. Great stuff I though and went home happy. However this afternoon I got a call from the pro-shop saying that they guy who I tied with rang the head pro (who is on holiday) and was told last night we needed a play-off which we need to arrange. Now I don't have an issue with this, but I do have a number of concerns: 1. Why where we not informed before the competition that any tie results in a play-off as opposed to the English Golf Union guide lines for tied tournaments. 2. How can the result of a competition be altered after the official results have been posted? I am more than happy to go out and win the play-off but it just sounds a bit like the guy who tied with me is being a bad looser by running off and ringing the head pro while he is on holiday. When we had all finished last night the pro-shop was closed and there was no-one official to ask so I just left it.

73 for a +1 round. Stood on the 18th level and had a 15-foot birdie putt. Pulled it and left it 3-foot past. Then a society of 20 people walked onto the 1st tee and wouldn't shut up, lost concentration and missed the putt for par and a 72. Ah well, should get me down to 4.2 from 4.4 so some breathing space! Phew.

You must have some big pockets in that bag to fit him in there!

I found this the most interesting photo. I always believed that you need to keep golf balls warm to get distance, odd! -

Golf Balls stamped with High Numbers

I saw some ProV1's at a UK store which where 20% more because they where high numbers! -
I have a TaylorMade R9 TP with 9.5 and that is pretty good at keeping it on the short stuff, I know that the majority of my misses are my fault not the clubs but if you hit a consistent fade or draw then then adjustable face and weights can be used in modern drivers to straighten it up.

Anything by Cleveland / Titleist and you won't go far wrong. Some of the older Clevelands, the CG10 or 12's will spin the ball nicely. But as others have said you need to strike it will and use an appropriate ball. People often overlook bounce when getting a wedge. It all depends and what your current wedges have and what type of course you play. If you current wedges have standard bounce then go for the same with the 56. If you play on a course with tight fairways and firm sand then you may want a bit less bounce than standard, or if your fairways are fluffy with soft sand you want more bounce. Cleveland denote bounce with red dots on the hosel (well they do with the CG12 not sure about anything else though.

Hot List 2010 Golf Balls
ry1808 replied to Titleist_ProV1x's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Balls are weird ain't they. You look at golf clubs and in the world top 50 there must be at least 25 different sets of clubs used but maybe only 5 different types of golf ball. I think far too many people just grab a ball and play with it, not spending enough time trying them all out. People change drivers one a season (well some do anyway) at maybe $300 per year but then they gasp at paying $10 for some balls which could save them quite a few shots per round if they get one which suits them properly. This guide sure helps. -
I may sound like a broken record on here but I am a huge advocate of carrying extra wedges if your course demands it. I suppose you need to ask yourself where do you loose the most strokes in a round, from missing the fairway or not getting up and down enough from inside 100 yards, especially when you have a half wedge or something like that. But I would say for sure get the 3-wood cut down to standard as a starting point. Won't cost much if it is a steel shaft and you may get on far better than you do even by choking down.

Shafts are one of those golfing myths for me. I can see a perfect shaft on paper and hit it like a dog, or I can see something that would never suit me and I get a great ball flight. In the UK we are a little hampered by the lack of true custom fitting places but the best bet is to find a club head you like and go to a fitting shop and try as many shafts as you can. I just got a new set of irons with the Project X flighted shaft in 6.0 and they feel great. I didn't really go through a proper selection process as there are not many easily accessible places for that round here that would do them at a sensible price but these work for me. Such a huge step up from my old irons that it is worth it. The time and expense to get the extra 10% just wasn't justifiable in my opinion.

How many clubs do you guys carry?
ry1808 replied to JWL1957's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Full 14 for me as in my sig. When I got my new irons I was toying between getting a hybrid and replacing the 3-iron but the 3-iron is such an amazing club to hit the feel and feedback is like nothing I have ever hit. Also my course is pretty short and I give it a good hit so the long irons mainly only come into play on the par 5's, hence the 4 wedges. Going from a 3-wood and 5-wood combination to a 4-wood only means I loose a bit of distance control but I can shape the TP 4-wood better than the old clubs so I can take a bit off with a cut or hit a power draw and I'm doing OK I guess. -
New TaylorMade 5-piece golf ball Penta TP
ry1808 replied to SpringBokVol's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I think I'm gonna have to give these balls a go! A lot on ringing endorsements! Shame they are £10 for 3 or £37 for 12 ($15 and $52 respectively). I love TaylorMade clubs and have the R9 driver and 4-wood but I have never really got on with the balls so I may give 3 a go soon. I wonder if this is the ball to topple the ProV1? Over the years we had a few challengers, I remember the Nike One Black being the closest ball for me, or even the Hogan Apex Tour, that was such a soft ball. But if the TM is as durable as people say then they may have a winner. -
I have had a Ping carry bag for about 8 years and it only failed a few weeks ago. I got a new one in April and hopefully this one will last as long. Ping bags really are made with quality materials and they last. As the previous poster mentioned about the Ogio the legs on the new Ping also don't go very wide. But also Ogio bags are pretty damn good too.

Well I never really hit blades in the balata days but my new blades give such a strong penetrating ball flight that I think the COG is perfect. Also the control with the long irons is just mind-blowing.

Best looking irons? Have your say.

I just got myself a set of the new Callaways, not only do the look amazing, they hit the ball like nothing else I have ever tried.
