This. I've got an Ogio bag so it doesn't really apply to me but I wouldn't have been against buying a bag I liked just because I didn't own any clubs from that maker.

I am in the market for a set of clubs for my wife as well. She's only 4'11" so she could probably get away with a set of kids clubs. Any suggestions?

After a couple year break from playing I am just getting back into golf this year. Goals: 1. Straighten out my drives. I'll only hit about a handful of fairways a round due to my wicked slice. I've improved it a bit already but I've still got plenty of room for improvement. 2. Work on my chipping around the greens. I've pretty much figured this out in my last round. After golfing with a couple friends a few weekends ago they gave me some pointers as I was terrible around the greens. Last time out I was putting the ball within 10-15' of the cup every time which is incredible for me. Usually I'd just knock it over the green. :) 3. Eliminate 3-putts+. I've improved my putting quite a bit so far this year as I only 3 putted twice my last round. My first few rounds I probably only less than 3-putted twice a round. 4. Consistently break 90.

Hah, I wish. My wife are currently reading it. She bought it for her dad for Christmas because she thought he would like it. It usually takes him a while to get through books but he read this one in a short period as he couldn't put it down. He gave it back to us so she could read it and we each started in on it this weekend while we took turns driving to North Carolina from Ohio and back. I haven't finished it yet but so far it is one of the best mysteries I have ever read.

I just started adding a number to the 1,2,3, or 4 to reflect my favorite athletes. 1 becomes 11 for Barry Larkin 2 becomes 28 for Curtis Martin 3 becomes 39 for Aaron Harang 4 becomes 74 for Nick Mangold Simple.

I have just used whatever is cheap in the past, I am not too picky. Anyone use those "brush" tees? I like the idea of teeing up at the exact same height every time but I don't know anyone who has ever used them.

Yeah, anyone that gives you crap isn't worth your time. Use the cart and enjoy yourself out there. That's an awful lot of strain on your back, playing 135+ holes per week. You've actually kinda put the thought into my head to get one. I enjoy walking a lot more than riding so I would definitely get use out of a push cart.

Guys in front of us (foursome) were all wearing jeans today. Not rude. Not loud. Not disrespectful. Didn't play slow. Didn't leave any divots (as far as I could tell). Yes, your statement was generalizing and profiling. This coming from someone who would never wear jeans on a course (though for comfort reasons).

Course I played today is in the top 100 public courses in the US and it allows jeans (Eaglesticks). I love jeans, I wear them almost daily for work (when I am not wearing shorts) but there is no way I could (not would) wear them on a course. I can only golf in shorts so pants are not an option for me. If they were, I'd probably wear jeans if I could.

I agree with this. I definitely don't mind paying a little more to support a local business so long as it's relatively close in price. In the situation presented by the OP I'd have a hard time justifying the additional $350+ on the clubs. If they were within $100, though, I'd definitely go local.

I was fitted for some G5s a few weeks ago. Pretty nifty process. I was blue dot, +1/2", stiff flex. Being 6'4", off the shelf clubs really weren't getting it done for me. I've been away on a trip for work since my irons came in so I haven't played with them yet but I'll be hitting the course on Saturday morning. Hopefully I will notice an improvement in my scores.

Yep, I'd probably not play these on an actual course for a long, long time. They would just be a cheap set of less forgiving clubs to help me improve my ball striking so that one day I might be able to use a set of forged blades as my main clubs without pissing off everyone on the course behind me. :)

I definitely wouldn't be buying them to replace my G5's (which I haven't hit yet). I'd just be using them to work on my swing/ball striking. They are listed for $80 at the moment though I would definitely haggle.

Someone has a set of these for sale locally, just curious if they are worthy of checking out. Anyone ever played a set of them? This is the best pic they had of the backs, can't really get a good look of them in order to figure out which set they are exactly.

Would be cool if it came with an attachment that allowed you to attach a wiimote to a club of your choosing. Not sure how the added weight of the wiimote would affect your swing, though.

I've always used a stand bag in the past but went with a cart bag when I upgraded this past week. Played my first round with it (walked) on Tuesday and loved it.

I didn't hit the slingshots but I did hit the machspeed's. I couldn't hit them for crap. I'm not sure what was going on.

Man, the people who yell this at tournaments deserve a swift punch to the throat. It is the only thing I hate about watching golf on tv.
