  1. Shot an 86 (44-42) in windy and rainy conditions at Cardinal Golf Club - East Wing Course (par 71/6300yards 70.8CR/120slope). Switched my driver and putter this round and hit straighter drives and made longer putts. The course also scheduled my tee time right after a tournament, so the round was a little longer than usual.
  2. Bought a Cobra BiO Cell Driver from my local golf store (Golf Town)
  3. So I ended up testing all three drivers out last night and got good results with all of them, however I was more consistent and slightly longer with the Bio Cell so I decided to buy it. I'll be putting it in play later on today to see how it works on the course. Just a quick question for anyone who owns the Bio Cell. So Cobra gives you that torque wrench that makes a click when you've screwed the shaft in tight enough when adjusting lofts. I've noticed so far that you have to turn the wrench really tight and the wrench makes a really loud (I though I cracked something on the driver) click when you've tightened enough. Is this click supposed to be really loud like that? I'm just hoping I didn't crack something.
  4. Yes, I'm going tonight to test them out at my towns golf store and I'm definitely going in with an open mind. Who knows if I'll like one better than the other, or hit one straighter than the other. I'll make sure I go through all of the different loft settings too.
  5. I'm currently trying to work on making solid contact on every iron, hybrid, and wood shot. I've been in too many situations where I've blown a good drive by topping an iron or a wood. I'm also working on making sure my feet and shoulders are aligned properly before I swing, as I normally slice or hook the ball badly when they're not aligned, and my aim is way off. A little more distance on my shots wouldn't hurt too!
  6. Hello, I'm looking for a new driver to replace my Taylormade Tour Burner and have decided to buy either a Cobra BiO Cell or an AMP Cell Pro or a BiO Cell + , the reason being that my local golf store is having a sale on Cobra stock and I can get either of these drivers for around the same price (The BiO Cell + is a bit more). I'm looking for an all-around good driver but mainly one that is forgiving if not hit perfectly. Have any of you guys tried out these drivers? Which one would you recommend buying? I plan on testing out all three of them too before I buy one.
  7. I voted no, but it depends on the situation for me. If I shoot a high score I think nothing of it. After a bad first hole score, my friends and I always say to each other "no one counts the first hole anyways" If I shoot low on the first hole (which happens less often), it might give me some confidence going into the next few holes and influence my next few shots a bit.
  8. 87 (42/45) at a tougher championship course in my area that consisted of 4 pars and one chip-in birdie. All thanks to some impromptu good short game shots!
  9. 14th hole Par 5 498 yards dead straight with a protected green surrounded by greenside bunkers. I hit a good drive to the centre of the green about 250 yards away. I top a 3W next, then hit a 9I into the right edge of the bunker. I'm a lefty so I now have to hit my bunker shot from outside the bunker. I bend down and hit. The ball flies out of the bunker, bounces once, then bounces straight into the hole for an unlikely birdie.
  10. Rough hands down, as long as the lie was good. I always find it easier to get under the ball in the rough compared to the fairway.
  11. 42 for a quick nine on the front of my local muni course. Thought I was playing a links course with all the weather changes throughout the round (cold, wet for the first few holes, to hot and humid for the middle, to cool and breezy for the closing holes). My game wasn't too bad though and I made most fairways and good contact all day long.
  12. 92 (49-43) at my local course (on a newer front nine) in the coolest/windiest weather I've ever played in (almost-gale force winds were pretty much constant on most holes). Made better contact with all my clubs though, but my short game was all over the place. I guess the wind really threw me off on the first nine.
  13. ~14th hole 160 yard par 3, downhill slightly. I top a 6 iron badly and the ball rolls down the hill maybe 40 yards or so. I then hit a beautiful pitching wedge to within two feet and tap in for an unlikely par.
  14. Shot a 93 (47-46) for my first round of the season. Driver/iron play was all over the place, but I managed to come back with a few good chips and putts to pull off a decent round.
  15. I keep a small keychain of the logo of my favourite course attached to the ring of my bag. It serves as a reminder to get back and play that course as often as possible.
  16. Welcome Richard! Great to see another Ontarian golfer on the forum. I need to get myself one of those Clublink memberships, so many nice courses are part of it.
  17. The occasional Montecristo Edmundo, especially on a nice summer's day, hits the spot for me.
  18. Yeah it definitely hit hard all right (in the middle of it now). I drove by one of my home courses earlier today and it broke my heart seeing it under inches of snow again. Someday this will all melt! :)
  19. Front Right: cell phone, tees, occasionally a scorecard Front Left: change, green fees receipt, wallet. Nothing in the back pockets, but once and a while a ball marker/divot repair tool on the belt. I'm thinking of taking most of that stuff out, since I think it's throwing off alignment a bit.
  20. Welcome to the forum Stephane! Hopefully this snow clears soon so the golf season can start!
  21. My friend wanted me to post this one: Years ago, me and my friend were golfing at our first "real" 18 hole par 72 course (we were about 13 years old). We're on the 15th hole, a par 5 505 yards up a pretty big hill. My friend lines up his driver and just cranks it dead straight, easily clearing the hill. We walk over to the top of the hill and can't find his ball. After a few minutes, the Marshall drives over to us and tells my friend his ball is about 150 yards further up. His drive ended up being about 340 yards (maybe more due to the hill). The Marshall told him he hit a nice 2nd shot, but was amazed when my friend told him it was his drive. Even after all these years and with better equipment, he still hasn't hit a shot that far.
  22. 1-Graeme McDowell 2-Dustin Johnson 3-Jason Day 4-Brandt Snedeker 5-Luke Donald
  23. I hit a little shorter than most, so most of the times I use a 56* SW or a 50* wedge from that range, adjusting my swing for yardage and the lie.
  24. Probably 15 of my last 20 rounds have been at "home" courses that I play often. I see what you mean about variety in different courses, Gunther. A few summers ago, me and my golfing buddies decided to go on a "Golf Blitz" as they put it. We basically had to see how many different courses we could play in July. We ended up playing about 15 new courses. It was a cool experience, teeing it up and not knowing anything about the course or each hole, aside from yardage. It really tests your abilities and shot-making decisions.
  25. Been a Top Gear fan (UK version) since the start. It's hilarious, it's witty, and they talk about some pretty cool cars. Good to see it's still going strong after all these years.
