Very true.. but remember the world is circular. without big names, without press, there's less sponsorship, and less interest less interest = less sales = less R&D; into equipment = less advancement in the game People can hate Tiger.. but as a golfer, I know he's done more for the game just by being dominant, than anyone else has ever done. There are many nicer players, better persons, etc.. but no one as influential to the game of golf.. no one who's brought more youngesters into the game etc.

one major difference I do notice is temperment.. in my early 20s, i used to get really pissed at each bad shot.. now i just laugh it off and try to focus on the next one.. hope it all comes back :)

Share the secret please. How do you go from shooting in the low 100s.. lay off for 5 years... then pick it up again and shoot mid 80s?! Man i wish i can get some of that! I also had a 5 year layoff.. shot high 80s when i left the game, and now in the mid 90s.. :(

I'm a 19-20 hdcp.. The issue is driver and chipping consistency. I'll get 6 pars a game, maybe even a birdie.. but i'll have 3 quadruple bogeys from lostball/OBs.. etc.. but to 'cut out the bad hole' is muchhhh easier said than done.

hmm. good one. how about : 5 iron - 185 carry, about 200 by the time it stops rolling.. ? if i place it to the correct side. i can still approach green? i guess a fw makes that easier good point..

If no money involved, I like your chances better. I'm sure the Pro executes better under pressure.. Sure you have 4 shots at a 12 footer.. but with money on the line, can you hit one? pros can.. so.. i don't know.. fun time indeed!

I have a question about FW.. and this isn't in "golf equipment" b/c i'm not really asking 'which' FW i should buy.. but more in my case, do i need a FW.. My driver will either 1) carry 270-280 yards, or 2) go right and end up in the trees, or 3) OB if 1) occurs, I can hit a 5 iron 180-185. for most Par 4 (sub 450ish). i can reach with an iron. for most par 5s (over 500), I can't reach, but I can hit it to

Best - Par 5 has best chance at birdie/par.. but also chance of a blow up, but not that bad Par 3 has lowest risk, but lowest scoring chance (meaning odds are bogey or better, but birdie is rare). Worst - Par 4 - usually par/bogey, but many chances to get triple+

Hey Rick.. sorry I didn't mean to 'put down' the V2 at all. it's a nice machine for sure.. I dont think it's 'lighter' either. i just meant the outter casing felt like plasticy.. maybe it was the "4th of July" version they have? american flag colors all over.. a bit tacky haha but yah.. i mean..it's nice, but i liked the Gx3 better.. and yah it's 1/3 more but i mean.. you can always buy a cheaper car.. or cheaper clubs.. or cheaper house.. etc.. so definitely no right/wrong. just an opinion. :)

Are you suppose to "re-tee" after the first ball went into the water? aren't you suppose to drop just in front of it? i'm not a rule expert by any means

I believe workability is the ability for you to shape a shot the way you intend. like you say u want to aim 15 yards to the left of a tree, and have the ball fade back 15 yards.. thus working around the tree. but from what I"ve been told, you can't 'work' a shot unless you strike it solidly.. so better get the irons that you can strike better, instead of ones where you may miss.. b/c u can't work anything until you hit it.

i enjoyed watching Dustin Johnson get a quad bogey.. it tells me even someone who does it for a living can have those holes.. (which i do on a consistent basis)

It was 399.. and yah the V2 is 299.. the Leupold felt far more solid in my hands.. the V2 felt like a toy with plastic(?) casing.. the GX was also significantly smaller..
