  1. I have had the opportunity to hit their products and these are my thoughts. The Woods - Hate them! Not so much for the performance factor, but for the sound they make. They sound like an empty tin can when hit. The older Drivers were sub par, but I think the more recent offering are very similar to the market average. Irons - I have hit the TW Blades and a few of their forged offerings. I liked them very much. They had a very responsive feedback and I was able to work them very well. I will say that the sets I was hitting were upgraded with KBS shafts. I could be mistaken, but I was under the impression that Nike does not make their irons? Wedges - Did not really care for them, but I find it hard to compare anything to Vokey's!!! Putters - I don’t really care for them. I tried the new Methods when they became available....and just didn’t like they way the ball came off the face, it felt lazy! Ball - I don’t like the ball. To be fair I was given all the balls I wanted for free (Platinum’s) and I used them as range balls into the lake behind my house, they were garbage! They chased me away from the ball products. Secondly, I am a ProV1 loyalist, to the point that I am an official tester for their prototype products! Bag - They switched up to a full Nike sponsorship halfway through college. So I have several of their Bags, I would take a PING Hoofer. Granted, they have made big improvements in the last few years. Their Staff bags are KILLER!!! but those are just billboards, so they should be. Apparel - They are the best on the market! I where nothing but their Performance Dri-Fit Undershirts for daily’s and on the course. I have probably 25 golf polo’s, and during the heat of a Georgia Summer, I would wear nothing else. Their golf shorts and pants are also a staple on the golf course as well as the office. Shoes - They make a suitable product. I much prefer my Adidas 360's I think they do spend alot of money in the marketing realm, but so does Adidas with Taylor Made.
  2. The fact is that statement is totally off basis. The last 5 years for golf technology has made a tremendous difference for the common golfer. First there is the ability to adjust the driver to fit the golfer. Until the last few years this was a luxury only afforded to the pros and those willing to shell out some cash. I'm not saying this improves their game, because most golfers would see a much greater impact buying a much more inexpensive driver and spending their money on lessons. Never the less, this is a huge technology leap for the average golfer. Next is the shaft technology. The layering techniques and composite materials have made the shaft of today far better than those of just a year or two ago. And then there is the giagantic improvement in the ball technology. When I was playing my best golf, with my PING ISI Ti driver and Titleist 100 professional, I was a consistent 280 off the tee. With current technology, I can pull that off with my 3 wood.
  3. Myrtle Beach is a great "Quantity" spot. If I went I would stick to the Pawley's Island area. Specefically Caledonia Golf and Fish Club - Considered the gem of the Grand Strand and the TPC of MB. Another Awesome spot is the Renyolds Plantation area. It is home to some of the top ranked resort courses in the Southeast, I would shoot specefically for Great Water, Cuscowilla and the Ritz Carlton Course...all are in the tops for Georgia, rank up there with Augusta and East lake without the exclusivity. nice thing is it is a easy car ride from the Atlanta Airport (1hour) Lastly i would look at the Pinhurst, North Carolina area. You have the Famous no. 2, but there are 7 others. Then there is the Pine Needles resort as well. All are fantastic courses.
  4. There is a set at the Atlanta PGA Superstore in LH Prototype for 499.00 on clearence!
  5. She has been replaced but the much more qualified Win McMurray!
  6. I'm selling my Rare Black Jelly bean bag for 1450.00 DZD (Algerian Dinars).
  7. Maybe he just really likes the nifty Red Staff Bag???
  8. Callaway is the most strict when it comes to the # of clubs to be carried by staff pros. I could be mistaken but I believe it is 12 and the ball. Where some of the others, Like Taylor Made, is 3. Maybe he takes this deal to branch out and use some equipment he preferred, but coul not contractually use.
  9. I'm looking for this extremely rare limited edition Black Jelly Bean golf bag.....
  10. This thread is completely worthless if you leave out the likes of Bobby Jones and Ben Hogan! Both, where taken from or walked away from the game in their prime and still are in the arguement...that in itself is amazing!
  11. I think the word "compress" is used because the force of the club compresses the material inside the golf ball.
  12. I have the prototypes, I hate to see that they mucked with such a clean good looking club!
  13. For me..I enjoy playing with alot of higher handicapped guys. I play in a weekly game and most of them are 7-18 handicappers, I can play my game and enjoy the round with these guys. a few things that drive me crazy, from playing with others. 1. Do not take yourself so seriously, last time I checked that Master's wasnt calling. There is no need for banging your clubs, cart or strings of obsenities becasue you missed a 20 footer or did not stick it tight from 150 yds. Enjoy the game and play within yourself. 2. If I pull out a 3 wood and go for it 265 out....you do not have to match me, especially since it is you 3rd or 4th shot. 3. When I hit a bad shot, for the love of God, do not give me advise! 4. Keep the pace of play going. 5. Know the rules of golf and understand how to score things. I hate getting to the end of the round and some crazy score comes out of their mouth because they didnt count some of those pesky penatly strokes. 6. Lastly, because I card a 68 or 69 on the round I am not ready for the Tour...of any kind!
  14. You might also contact the tournament in its current for the Pebble Beach Pro-AM and see if they are intrested in displaying it for the tournament. I know that some of the PGA events have a area that displays the history of the tournament. You might loan it for their display and get some tickets or such out of it....???
  15. WOW, that is a fantastic piece of golf history. I would find a way to display it an preserve that unique one of kind item.....good find from the parents!
  16. I got $400 in gift cards to PGA Superstore. I really dont need or want anything.....any suggestions? Thought about a Laser Rangefinder, but not sure? Any feed back there?
  17. Not in tournament stroke play.
  18. It was indeed the White Board
  19. I'm all for it.....as long as it is a Georgia Bulldawg!!!! I Have oldschool knit RocketSocks on the 3 wood and hybrid. Just Kiddin...to each their own. I just hate the guys that have a different crazy headcover on 7 different woods in the bag, or the person with a Tiger....its been done, find something else!
  20. 9 sets at home right now, can get rid of these due to sentimental value. 1. PING S57's - (Current set) 2. PING S59's 3. PING I3's 4. PING I2's (CuBe) 5. Callaway Prototype Blades 6. Titleist - 981's 7. Mizuno MP33's 8. Cleveland Tour Action Blades 9. Cobra "Norman Grnds" prtotype blades
  21. That's odd since one of Davis's best friends is Wally Ulhein (CEO of Acushnet - which owns two of the three title sponsers Titleist and FootJoy)
  22. Oh, and for the poster that mentioned that the average par 4 is 350, or 120 for the average par 3? Does he mean from the red tees? My buddies son plays in our local father son matches, and they set up courses like that…for the 7 year olds, and he shoots 82-83? Look at some of the par 3’s this year on tour and some have approached 300yds, Par 5’s over 620yards. Take your Wedge, Wedge, Wedge, 2 putt to a 600 yard pard five. Heck I’ll give a 5 iron? Play a real course with some teeth, and tell me you would shoot an 88 first itme out....no dice!
  23. I love this question..... Like I have posted the last two times in several weeks it has showed up....the guys on the Nationwide Tour and then the PGA tour are unbelievably TALENTED… Golf absolutely has genetic predispositions that make it easier for one over another. First off there is the mental aptitude to put it all together on a regular basis. Hitting certain shots in a given situation takes creativity, which if I’m not mistaken is a quality of intelligence? Then there is the muscular and skeletal makeup, which allows a person to torque and release that tension in a fluid repeatable powerful stroke millions of times. There is the intense hand-eye coordination required to move you hands into the groove at the split second to separate a putt for birdie and missing the green. Then there is the vision to see the breaks, read the greens and maneuver the course, until the recent advances with vision correction, this attribute stifled many careers. I was one of those “lucky” kids that was very fortunate to grow up around the game. I started swinging a club at 3, and it never left my side. I was exposed to some excellent instruction from a former tour player (before it was a lucrative sport). I practiced day and night, read every magazine and book…it was my passion. I played in high school, I played AJGA and travelled…my parents spared no expense to let me chase whatever I had in mine……So why am I a better than average golfer and not on tour???? Now for the 3rd time I tell this story. My college roommate and teammate, is a current successful member of the PGA tour. I played a round on a respectable Nationwide Tour event holding course a month or two back. I played well with a 67 (-3), my former roommate goofed around and fired a 62 (-9). Let me tell you there is a great deal of a difference between the + handicapped golfer and the PGA tour pro, and the average 15 handicappers might as well be on a different continent. Some of us were born with the gifts to play a game for a living, others where not. Just like some of use were born with the gifts to be musicians, doctors, scientists, etc.
  24. Anything I called an "outfit"....sounds like my wife in here, next ya'll be asking if the orange makes his butt look big.......
  25. It is all about the money. Many of these guys are carrying "prototype" equipment, that is not available to the public anyway so it is all about the name on the side of the bag and the front of the hat. Ask Tiger, the front of his hat is the most expensive piece of real estate in the world. Some carry custom Irons, stamped with their sponsers brand, while others carry other brand equipment. Each brand has a designated minimum # of clubs to be "staff pro" and they must carry that number in order to get the endorsement deal. There are others that prefer a particular brand of equipment and seek out deals with that particular brand.
