Two straight losses for me.. I couldn't get reliable enough backups in for 3 RB/WR byes this week and got taken down a notch by the now-#1 team.

Hey guys, I found out yesterday that I was one of 64 finalists in Toppers Pizza's house pizza contest, where you had to create a pizza (name and ingredients) and submit it for a chance to have it featured on Toppers' menu, along with pizza for a year and $500. The 64 finalists are set up in a March Madness-type bracket, with rounds of heads-up type matches deciding the winner. The victor in each matchup is decided by the number of "likes" and unique comments (meaning 1 comment per person) on the image that Toppers creates for that person's pizza (name, pizza, ingredients... Mine is the Big Thin Greek Pizza). I was hoping I could recruit some of you guys toward my cause. :) My matchup for Round 1 is on November 5th at 11am-12pm CT. Round 1 only lasts 1 hour, with later rounds lasting all the way up to 6 hours. The image that Toppers will upload goes up on their fan page at the start of the matchup. Their fan page is located at: www.facebook.com/ToppersRocks I also set up an event page on Facebook so that it can serve as a reminder for those who may forget: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=101879406547769 Thanks in advance for anyone who wants to help!

Wouldn't the question be "When is it too cold to keep playing golf?" but anyway, I basically only play in 60+ degree weather. Since I'm still a beginner, when it gets colder I end up having one more thing to be annoyed about, so it puts me off my game :P

Bwahahaha. In our league, I scored over 110 points thanks to a pretty much overall awesome performance from everyone. Undefeated!

A hook, if only for a change of pace.

+1 on the AVS Midsize Pistol. I "inherited" mine with my Heavy Putter and I really like it. Given the weight of the putter, the grip just fits well at its size. I don't think I could manage it with a smaller grip. -
I missed the draft as well, though have made a couple moves to juggle things about during the byes. I'm undefeated thus far. :D though my WR corps is somewhat lacking, and am pretty much even this week against my opponent in projected points. I need another LT breakout game, or someone else like Rivers..

I picked those up as well, and had the same result. Such comfortable shoes, and in my hard-to-find 12.5. -

Ouch... Definitely have to agree with you on your little bit of advice. In January, after several months of prepping to run a half marathon, I had a peroneal tendon injury (only a strain, as is common with runners) the week before the race. I was so ticked... and ended up not seriously running for a few months after as I lost the motivation. Just plan out a way to get golfing again so you keep that motivation! Although I'm sure getting that motivation is a lot easier in terms of golf than it is for running... haha

Actually, he's 8 now, considering it was posted 36 months ago...

It's not the tree branches that like to attack my ball.. It's the ball that's attracted to the trees. I hate trees on the right, since my ball keeps seeking them out. Then again, I have a slice issue.

I have TW10 for the Wii and I've had difficulties hitting a full swing with the Wiimote. My impulsive side has thought about getting a PS3 (to sadly complete the console system triad) but I've passed thus far.

Any updates on stats and such? -
Without the putter, I'd have to say I use my 3H the most (at the moment avoiding driver and 3W until I can get lessons next season so I don't ingrain something awful), then my wedges... Haven't played enough to really set up a hierarchy, but I'd probably say my 52* then my 60*.

The often overlooked golf shoe, and why its worth investing in quality.

I ended up finding a pair of cosmetic-blemished Tour 360 4.0s on sale with golflocker.com for $84.95, so I pounced on those. :D I'll probably blemish them more in one round than what I'll find with them, they said. -

Finally pulled the trigger on new golf shoes to replace my 10-year-old (not worn for most of 9 years out of those 10 lol) shoes today. Golflocker.com has factory blemished Adidas Tour 360 4.0s for only $84.95 and free shipping. :D -
Horrible, horrendous night at the range
Shripe replied to Golf Novice's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I had this issue a couple days ago as well. Granted that since I don't have lessons under my belt, my swing isn't exactly prime for flushed shots, it was just a lot worse than normal. I can generally manage to catch the ball without topping it or chunking it, but that wasn't at all guaranteed last time. I even had a couple of those embarrassing shots that send the ball about 10 feet right and about 5 feet forward... >_< -

I second the comment on the 4.0s fitting my feet better. I had the choice (as a 12.5) to try ton those, the Innolux, or another Adidas shoe I couldn't remember. Tried on two of them and stopped at the Tour 360 4.0s once I put them on. Immediately they felt so much better than the others, and they were comfortable to walk in. I just didn't want to pay $180 at the time. I'm still holding off even though I've found them on eBay for about $112 ($100+ship). The only golf shoes I have are spikeless and from 10 years ago, more of a style pair than functional, and I haven't bothered to get new ones (mainly been playing in my $100 running shoes :P). -

I'm eyeing a Clicgear 3.0 if I can find one at a good price... $200 seems high, and Golfsmith/GG don't allow you to use discounts on Clicgear items (or I suppose Clicgear doesn't allow it). I want one out of necessity since if I golf at the course near me, I'm walking a mile each way in addition to the course. Just walking a mile back (when I was dropped off) the first time I golfed there, I somehow hurt my leg from carrying the bag and was away from golf for a few days. -
9/18 - First Annual Sand Trap "Forward Tees Tournament"
Shripe replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Well, since I couldn't make it, I'm going to have to use my old attempt, which was my first try at that length (heck, that course) anyway. Estimated a 60 on a par 33 9-hole course (w/par 3s and par 4s, 2414 yds and 62.4/100 from the forward red tees), hit a 58. Not sure what else I need to say. I wasn't all that great on placement on the green, so my putts weren't so good, but I don't have exact data since I didn't realize you had to SAVE a scorecard within BBGPSGolf. Worst hole was a 10, had a couple 5's as well mixed with 6's and 8's for the other holes. I didn't keep score on the main scorecard either. :( -
Also, I wanted to add that I almost always wear a polo shirt when golfing, though there have been times where I wear a normal tee if I'm only going to be at the range. I happened to pick up a couple good Izod polos at Boston Store a month or two ago at $15 each (half off plus coupon), nice deal. :)

I'm not one to wear pants during the summer, as I'd be quite uncomfortable. To date I haven't yet played any golf with them, as I mainly stick to cargo shorts already. Since I have no plans to hit any course beyond the inexpensive munis, it doesn't matter to me. And about the cell phone, I don't really use it for calling all that often, and on the course it's only for GPS purposes.
