I'm sure it depends on many factors. So what's your strategy? I always aimed at the center of green or the fattest part of the green. My GIR may be higher than otherwise, but I 3-putt very often, which is the 2nd most frustrating thing on the course (chunking a shot being the first). Recently, I have been aiming at a middle point between the pin and the center of green, which seems to produce a better result. 2 weeks ago, I have learned from here not to go after back pins. So for back pins, I use distance to the center. Any tips that you want to share?

Of course, this is for a non-competitive round. My fellow single capper always go for the hero shot after penalty. Does ESC affect your strategy?

Our league picks a tee box that's closest to 6500 yards and 125 slope. Our league handicap ranges from 2 to 20. I found this to be comfortable so when I play in a new course, I follow the above rule to pick a tee box. But often I let my playing partners decide.

I'm so glad to see 80% of poll and 100% who replied said their handicap is decreasing. I guess visiting thesandtrap.com is correlated with getting better at this game.

Interesting thread. I probably experienced all of the above. But nobody mentioned about rushing through the shots. I am in a league that is notorious for slow play. Last time we played, a lady 4-some had to play through us. That's how slow we play. When I first joined the league, I got accused for slow play. So if I miss a shot, I tend to rush the next shot without considering all the options. So a bad shot tends to result in another bad shot. On the other hand, if I play solo with strangers, I tend to relax more and rarely blow up holes.

How's the trend?

jwolf, What's your camera's FPS? What's your shaft flex? Curious to know because shaft bends like a C shape.
-
Thanks. Yes, I'm using a regular flex graphite. And the camcorder is 60FPS, which will give digital artifact due to scanning from top to bottom. What I don't like about my swing is I still have some weight on my right side. I need to transfer more weight to left side while keeping the head behind the ball. Here's another picture (it's right before impact).

Has anyone suffered injuries due to golf? As I get older, I'm getting more worried about this issue. I heard that stretching can prevent these injuries. Is it true?

Here's mine.

Personally, I don't see any problem with that. A didn't give advice voluntarily. B asked A for B's swing faults. A answered. Whether to listen to A or not is B's decision.

I'm not asking whether you are a sandbagger or not. I'm curious to know how comfortable you are playing with your handicap. If medal play vs match play matters, please specify.

I occasionally go to a course solo and get paired up with others. If I get paired with a guy who shoots in mid-70s and if he's approachable, I always ask for advice on the 18th hole. In many cases, surprisingly, they have watched my swing closely enough to point out my swing faults and have given me good advices. Unfortunately, I have not yet been asked to give advices. How's your experience?

I'm confused. I read several sources. Here's what I gathers. Can anyone confirm this? Maxfli C3 gold is Taylormade TP red. Maxfli C3 gold is not Taylormade TP LDP red.

I'm your height (don't know wrist to floor). When I address, like you said, my club toes are pointing up. But I found this is normal after hitting it off with tape on a lie board. The fitter said the lie is correct. Here's a suggestion. First, check the lie on a lie board. The toes pointing up doesn't necessary mean upright. If the clubs are too upright, then you have 2 options. Flatten the lies ($$$) or grip down (free). Gripping down an inch does wonders!

New Mizuno MX-Series Wedges (2009)
acegolfer replied to cueboy's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I play with MX-950. If you can't find MX wedges in US, you can get MX-950 wedges in 51, 56 and 60*. I bought 51* off ebay. Are they good? It's as good as your swing. -
How Often Do You Rebuild Your Swing?
acegolfer replied to acegolfer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I don't have a definition for major rebuild. I guess it's personal. Does any one want to answer JB's question? -
It seems that I'm always rebuilding my swing. In my mind, I have changed my swing completely about 6 weeks ago. And I make minor tweaks almost every practice session. I'm curious to hear others. Has anyone not changed his swing for several years?
-
I think this is true. My league shopped for the lowest cost to get official handicap 3 years ago (before I joined). We ended up with myscorecard.com, which is $9.95 per year. But it's not automatic. You need to belong to a USGA sanctioned group in addition to get an official USGA HI. I have not seen a lower cost than $9.95 a year.
-
Whatever you do, don't blame the ball. If you want a cheap premium ball, try Taylormade TP LDP RED.
-
If not, how do you calculate your handicap?
-
There are several reasons why people chip with lofted club such as 56*. 1. Riding cart. It's hard to bring half of the clubs to the green when you are riding. 2. Soft fringe. It's unpredictable how the ball will bounce if you try to bump and run. 3. Small green. You need to stop the ball quickly. 4. Lots of hazard around green. When I lived in north, I chipped with anything from 7i to 60*. But in S. Florida, most people just bring 56* for greenside shots.

About 5 years ago, I was a big time cheater. I took mulligans, improved lies, treated OB as lateral, didn't putt out. The only thing that I didn't do was probably recording a wrong number on the card. Even though I was shooting 70s (with cheating), golf was not fun because I knew it was simply wrong. 2 years ago (after 3 year lay off and moving to a different state), I joined a league that play by the rule. Even though I can't shoot 70s, I feel good about my game now. I have no problem playing with cheaters as long as nothing is involved. I understand that they are trying to have some fun out there.

Do the right thing. You are better than that.

My buddy exactly knows what he is shooting after each hole. On the other hand, I only check what I'm shooting after each 9 holes. How about you? Do you keep track of how many strokes you are over after each hole?
