True you're right people do that. But I believe they do it without seeing the pros. I laugh because I do it as well. See them on tv miss a shot and laugh and say "terrible he sucks" when in reality when I've seen them at the tournament in Charlotte every single pro hits incredible shots! I think people should definitely go visit a local event... really eye opening.

Tall golfer (6'2") looking for lie angle info?

I'm 6'3 and just play off the rack, I was fitted for standard back when I started... Never really questioned it till now though lol -
What DON'T you consume before/during a round?

Man I avoid energy drinks and anything that makes me shit. Energy drinks I find myself kinda trembling standing over my ball... not good lol -
Can someone explain with maybe pictures exactly what he means by this? Is this cocking the wrist (hinging it) at the top of the back swing forming a relatively cupped left wrist instead of flat? How does this help fight a hook vs a flat left wrist at the top? I noticed my left wrist is pretty flat at the top of my backswing and this could be a big help to my problems striking the ball. I'm looking for a little more clarity on this secret move though. Thanks

How to stop hooking the ball with my irons!
bkoguy07 replied to bkoguy07's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Wow I appreciate the indepth responses. I started swinging a little less flat and a little more out - in and that kept it a nice 5 yard draw/straight shot. I tried hitting a push draw but I don't like the way it looks at address , it just messes with my mind. What I do is aim slightly right and it draws back 5 yards if it doesnt draw I usually miss slightly right .. Thanks for the responses everyone! -
How to stop hooking the ball with my irons!
bkoguy07 replied to bkoguy07's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I mean it really depends on where I'm at on the course lol. The ball is still traveling the appropriate distance but is rolling out hard(which is expected) after i miss about 15-20 yards to the right of the target(aimed about 5-10 yards right so I can draw it in.. so the hook actually hooks about 30 yards instead of the 10 I'm looking for). And then the ball just continues to roll My divot is pointed where I'm aiming (I use alignment rods to help with alignment when practicing.) -

Not really, wouldn't that just create a push hook? -

How to stop hooking the ball with my irons!

Yeah my grip is neutral so I feel like I'm definitely coming from too far inside. Possibly too flat a swing plane and then not correcting it on the downswing? I need some swing thoughts or drills to help me still swing inside out so I can control my draw but not overcook it and hook it. -
After a long battle with a slice/fade I finally beat it. I changed my natural ball flight to a draw. With my driver I hit a nice high draw with my misses being a hook. My irons are weird though. I hook the irons almost consistently - essentially a really strong draw/hook. How can I stop hooking the ball with my irons? I wouldn't mind keeping a relatively straight to a draw ball flight because I enjoy it, but man I've been hooking it pretty hard with my irons. Any tips?

What helps me is keeping a lil more weight on my left foot (im RH).. 60/40 I'd say. Helps me get allot crisper ball contact.

Buddy of mine par 3 170 yards, had a bad back so he was messed up all day hitting it short. Decides to pull out his driver to take a swing. Hits it hooks into the trees and bounces out hits the flagstick and falls in for an ace. par 3 170 yards with the driver. Yeah i was shocked. it was hilarious.

probably 15 started playing last year... Don't have a lot of money..but i practice like crazy (practice for free)

I mean its kind of hard to believe don't you think? You hit it farther than many pro's. Your benchpress of 275lbs has absolutly nothing to do with any part of your golf swing as it is a pressing movement. I bench easily 45 more pounds than you and can hit it no where near as far as your 3 wood even with my driver. I don't think you are lying but I just don't think you know how far you hit it. Just post a video and everyone will shut up and start giving you real advice.

I have a similar problem but its only because I barely ever play. I practice probably 4-6 times a week short game and ball striking but only get the chance to play once a month. I can immediately tell I am nervous on the tee. I noticed what settles me down is a solid preshot routine just like I do at the range. Usually settles me in and I'm good by hole 3 - 4 (already wrecked my score but who cares) ... hopefully when I have a chance to play more this summer I won't be as nervous in the beginning of my round as I usually am.

Man you're a real bomber

I'd say its worth arounnnnd 59-70 ... just a guess though.

When we say haney emphasizes a looping motion - are we speaking about it in such a manner as Furyks? Or different? Furyk brings the club straight back or over plane and loops back down into position and on plane, correct? Similar to furyk just not as exaggerated?

Hey everyone, only hit this wedge once didn't really like it, so I'm looking to get rid of it. 52* 10 Bounce Make an offer http://s457.photobucket.com/albums/qq294/nkim18/?action=view¤t;=Photo0100.jpg http://s457.photobucket.com/albums/qq294/nkim18/?action=view¤t;=Photo0099.jpg http://s457.photobucket.com/albums/qq294/nkim18/?action=view¤t;=Photo0097.jpg http://s457.photobucket.com/albums/qq294/nkim18/?action=view¤t;=Photo0095.jpg It is essentially brand new.. Hit it at one range session and didn't care for it. Some people love them.

Deadlifts work everything. They are great, add a lot of mass to your back traps forearms.

Some people in this thread don't know what they are talking about. On a side note since no one else has addressed this - where is your back exercises? You seem to neglect one of the largest muscle groups in the entire body.
