  1. He's been fined and undisclosed amount for the spitting. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/golf/9397212.stm
  2. I'm just back from the range and worked on keeping my wrist flatter. There's definitely an improvement, all I need to do is practice it so that it flattens naturally, at the moment it feels contrived which is to be expected. I'll post a few pics when I've had the oppurtinity to refine it.
  3. Hey, I've been playing for a year now on and off because of the weather we get here in Scotland. I've had a few lessons, working on posture, grip etc. One thing that has plagued me invariably is slicing and it's only recently I noticed that I have the worst cupped left wrist imaginable. Here's a pic Now onto my question. Should I have it cupped, bowed or flat?
  4. I was talking to my local pro about certain rulings and he posed a scenario which stumbled me somewhat. Hypothetically of course, say you mishit your teeshot and then faced with a shot to the green with a glass window directly at your target. Instead of navigating the ball around the obstacle could I play the shot through the window? Please forgive the improbableness of this actually happening
  5. Someone's a fan of Ben Hogan's Five Fundamentals :P
  6. Hey fine people, I've been watching golf for the best part of 12 months now and I've never seen any player with notable tattoos on their arms. You could denounce this as a silly topic and I wouldn't blame you, but I was wondering if there was perhaps some sort of rule forbidding tattoos on Tour. Are there any players with Tattoos on Tour?
  7. My putting could improve. But the thread title is the club that gives you the most trouble. Trouble being the operative word. I'm not particularly troubled by the putter.
  8. I like Mike Weir and his pre-shot routine and was suitably impressed why the way he played at Congressional. On the other hand, Stuart Appleby yet crashing and burning going into the last round as leader. Shame.
  9. Great shoulder turn at the top of the backswing but I agree with erik on this one. My right leg doesn't straighten at any stage of my swing which helps me have a nice hip turn (belt buckle facing right toe). Any pics of the downswing and follow through?
  10. I'll never forget the time when I was trying to navigate down a massive slope with my cart, losing my footing, falling on my arse and my bag fell over with my clubs scattering everywhere. I just started playing the game and never had any golf shoes so was sliiping up all over the place.
  11. I'm at the range about 5 days a week for about 2 and a half hours. My time on course is at weekends where I'm looking to play at least once or twice depending on how I feel.
  12. Slightly off-topic Erik, but how many days a week do you play?
  13. Definitely my 3 iron, in fact, I'm seriously considering replacing it with a rescue club.
  14. I always hinge my wirsts at the top of the backswing but not in the motion you've described of 'lifting the tray'. I've never tried it, but wouldn't it promote a more open clubface going up meaning you have to compensate on the way down invariably affecting your consistency?
  15. Luke Donald gets my vote, a very consistent iron player and was second to Tiger at Medinah last year. Oh and because he's British and carries Mizuno
  16. It's going to be like putting on glass. My anticipation levels are astronomical right now. I think anyone in the field would take even par over the four days. Narrow fairways, thick rough, 13.5 on the stimpmeter. Good luck fellas
  17. Wonderful photos really enjoyed looking through them :)
  18. Thanks green I appreciate your comments. My ball flight is normally rather high, I wouldn't say penetrating, but certainly a lot higher than the trees you can see in those photos. I'm hitting the range tomorrow for a few hours and I'm going to work on your suggestions. Keeping my right arm tucked in, keep my swing below parallel, and keeping the shaft inline with my right arm. Perhaps this will offer more consistency which is considerably lacking at the moment. Any more suggestions then please feel free...
  19. wow, 210 yds using a 6 iron. I'm lucky if I can reach 180yds. And I mean lucky. I'm impressed mike. Going back on-topic, I would love to join you on this quest for consistent ball-striking which I'm trying to achieve by truly embracing the mental side of golf. Instead of focusing on any bad shots, I will remember my good. I f I hit a bad shot, I will forget it and move on. I think this will relieve me of tension which kills me at times.
  20. very funny story Thankfully, I've never had any experience playing with weird people, all mine have been relatively sane apart from one perhaps. My current partner likes to throw his golf clubs at rabbits, behaviour which would surely get him thrown off, but still, everytime he spots one I can be sure to see him lunging whichever club he is using in it's general direction.
  21. The only advice I can give you is practice, practice, practice. That way your confidence will soar like a sweetly struck 3 iron. Go to the driving range, if you have a backyard practice chipping, putting etc. In no time you'll be confident in your game therefore worrying less about your performance in front of others.
  22. I love golf. And I love this forum. So I'm coming to you guys for advice on how to improve my swing. Today I went to the range and I'm hitting the ball more consistenly now but I fear I'm still rushing it and there's definitely room for improvement. I've been playing golf for almost a year now so go easy guys (criticise constructively please). http://media.putfile.com/golfswing-67
  23. Very nice guide gascan, I'll save this to my favourites should I decide to take a more hands-on approach to re-gripping. On a seperate note, I got fitted yesterday and decided to take your advice and purchased the MP-60s. Stylish is an understatement, every club just oozes sex appeal. Thanks for the recommendation
  24. I foolishly bought the Sasquatch 460cc 4 months ago on the back of gushing reviews and praise. That's not to say it aint a good driver, I personally couldn't warm to it. I've since bought a mizuno mx-500 which I prefer far more. Oh, and the sasquatch headcover is a severe pain, you really have to yank it hard whenever you put it back on.
  25. camx, The skycaddy is held in very high regard, I've not used it myself, but a quick glance at the Equipment forum shows some very positive reviews. You can find it here... http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4452 Personally, I use a more practical means of getting the ball close to the flagstick, and that's judgement. Knowing how far you can hit your long, mid and short irons is key to consistent approach shots, but judging distance comes from hours of practice on the range. Good luck pal.
