Low handicappers playing with high handicappers
steelernation replied to jetsknicks1's topic in Golf Talk
If you read the entire post, its pace of play i have issue with. When I play with 25's they are slower than 10' 15's etc. Some 25's are not slow as i stated, they I have no prob with. Ive also shaved off 5 strokes in the past 12 rounds, used to be a 24 HI in 2009. Hey i could play with a 5HI who is slow and yea that will get under my skin. Regarding bad shots, yes I make them. Thats not the issue; pace of play is. To generalize, higher HI's take longer than lower HI's, but this is not always a clear indication. Sorry if I sound like im profiling. -
Going to start walking next year what shoe provides the best comfort?
steelernation replied to shaank0's topic in Golf Talk
I wear Hagans from Dicks. their very dry, but with any shoe, foot inserts always help. -
I can deal with the pain...its not playing golf that hurts most. im gonna give it a go....WHY the hell would a women stand in front of a man with a driver in his hand? shes lucky to be alive.

Anyone here ever get a pinched nerve in neck from walking/carrying your own bag? Maybe a strained muscle in neck?

If I hit every ball square and straight(ish) yes, they'll all go 300 or longer. "If" doesnt happen all the time. I might get 3 or 4 a round, the rest are duck hooks, tops. Ive found my 2 best rounds were based off of hitting the ball 250 260 down the middle on all 14 holes, maybe 2 long drives.

If you played with me, you would recognize right away that Im on the green in 2 or 3 on every par4/5 except a couple and those I would either pick up my ball and take a triple bogey or quad, depending if I hit OB twice on that hole or I just move the ball to the green fast. I play faster than most single digit HI I know. I dont throw clubs or disrespect others. Usually, I will keep a steady pace on the first 5 holes and ill be 2 over par. Then the blowup occurs and Ill go frantic pace to finish that hole. -

if i play in a 4some i play fast, its not that I despise a 25hi, its just very few of them play briskly. I know a couple that will play quickly and no big deal. When you play a course that diificult and expensive and your paired with a 25hi that loses a ball every other hole, it kinds stinks when they dont use common sense and drop another ball from last known location. When a ranger comes to my group and warns me, if you dont pick up pace im moving you up 2 holes, how would you feel? As a 19 I play 14 par or bogey holes a round then I will post a quad or two and a trip on a par 3 of all things, when Im lying 6 on a hole and im not on the green, and there is a group behind me Ill pick up my ball. Im probably lower than a 19 because i dont use ESC in my scores. I dont care if a guys a 30HI if he can finish a 4some round in 4hours, Ill play with him. -

No, I get the impression that they enjoy my company on the course. I was once a 25 HI but you need to accept the fact that there are two different types of golfers, those that dont play ready golf and those that do. -

I hate to say this, but I cant stand playng with SOME high HI like 25's. If they played like me when I was a 25, I can deal. I would struggle up to the hole, but I would play quickly. I have played with some 25's that take all day to get on the green, the waiting takes me out of my game especially when they will hit balls into hard to find areas. I cant focus when Im playing with a group that goofs off on the course. My best rounds occur when I play with groups that are better than me it brings out the competitor in me. -
To the OP, you didnt do anything wrong. They were huge horses arses. Its hard to keep cool, I know.

Does the PGA Tour need Tiger to win a major?
steelernation replied to The Recreational Golfer's topic in Tour Talk
I think Tiger was still in contention. at one time he may have been 6 or 7 strokes off the lead. -
I get the feeling that the OP has a bigger problem with someone else in "his" fairway. Is this the case? Or is it the behavior of the other group that irks you? If just the presence of another golfer gets to you, your in the wrong game. Otherwise just be the big man and let them polay through, they feel dumb enough being on the wrong hole. Hell I do when I'm on the wrong hole.

If Tiger does not win another tournament, the pga will not suffer. There are plenty of people that would love to see him struggle to win again or struggle to win and only lose in a playoff. He is a great golfer, but he is also the most polarizing golfer in the game. His extra coverage on the tour is also for those who want to see him drop f bombs, throw clubs, or blow up at his caddy after a poor shot. I know I do, I think its funny as hell watching a pro lose it. -
One of my clients relatives played with me in a 4some. He would hit 20 yards deep into woods, and wow find his ball 10 feet into the thatch with a playable lie! I thought i saw him drop a ball from his pocket from the corner of my eye once, then at a party one of his buddies was razzing him when we were talking golf. The old chap said to him, "so Joe! how many balls did you have to drop from your pocket last round?" I guess hes been caught before. Busted
-
Yes, several from the fairway or rough...but Im still a fast golfer. I take practice swings primarily to determine the lie of the ball height wise compared to my feet. I then determine what amount of grip to take in my hand.

I found 4 of them in a garage sale golfbag, think theyre worth anything??
-
I agree I was wondering myself. All of the players hitting 357, Im assuming this distance is more likely 320 330 perhaps the green is deep or the tee is forward...I dont know...Hell Zach Johnson was 10 yards off the green!
-
ball landed in a water hazard, but stayed in high grass, it was playable. I dont want to ground my club, but need clarification on whether my club can touch any grass blades in the hazard before the ball makes contact...its impossible... If by grounding does it mean resting the club on the dirt of the hazard? the fluff of the grass? I have to address the ball and hover the club 4 or 5 inches behind the ball to start my backswing...by moving blades of grass do incur penalty? theres just no way to tell if 10 blades were undisturbed...

What's you avg long distance from the fairway ?
steelernation replied to sam004's topic in Golf Talk
I cant and don't hit a 3 iron because the fairways will get skid marks. Im trying to learn how to use my 7 wood(highest loft wood I could find) its still a work in progress. THis is crazy....I used to deloft my Drive badly..I have hit balls off the tee that bounced from the tee only to carry the 2nd bounce 150 yards into fairway, then roll another 100 yards. -

I wouldnt go that far. 300 isnt freakishly long. 300+ with said 3 wood, yea thats freakishly long. -

LOL The only irons I use are a 8iron & 9iron I carry a 7iron but I never use it. They were given to me by Dad from Walmart! LOL I swing pretty hard, my driver ss is probably 130ish, I just assume that based upon my longest drives. I think my iron shafts are too felxible....gonna get a new 8iron soon and see. -
I wear two from tee to cup. Funny I have white hands and tan forearms

conditions fair no trouble near hole. On nearly all par 4s- and my tee shot is still in the fairway! Im usually hitting into green with a 53 degree or higher from 150. On par 5's if again tee shot is in fairway, I am looking at 250 yards from green to as close as 200 yards, sadly I have no club for that distance since i cant hit off the deck worth crap. I will usually unload with a 8iron and either hit it fat for 100 to 150 yards or might get lucky and hit a pure power draw to 220. I deloft my irons and the 8 turns into a 4. This month Ive been on the same par5 500yd in two, from 200 out and 150 out. I would say with my chaotic game 220-250 yards out %8 chance of getting on 200-220 yds out %15 chance 175-200 yds out %25 150-175 yds out %35 130-150 yds out %40 100-130 yds out %50 10-99 yds out %75 0-9 yds out %90 Par 4's from the tee under 340 yds %5 in one stroke. I go for it everytime from the deck. those numbers are just guesses and are based off of holes in which I am playing my holes fairway, not the adjacent. -
just some food for thought I noticed while playing last night in a practice round that 2 scuffed/dirty balls would die in flight off the tee. The new balls tend to drive from 15 to 30 yards further.
